Saturday, June 14, Dallas, TX
by cruzanheart inwell, it's not exactly on the date but the first opportunity thereafter!.
it's been a hell of a ride.
we were both regular pioneers when we met and we weathered the storms of getting married (both sets of parents did their best to keep it from happening), chris leaving the borg, me staying in for another 15 years and two kids, his family disowning him, my father's suicide .

JW's unwritten dress code and personal appearance standards-FROM WHERE?
by Thechickennest inone thing that always use to puzzle me was the personal appearance standards, espessially for meetings and service.
the men always were expected to where a tie, suit, jacket, etc.
no beards were allowed-mustaches were ok!

about a decade before my dad died he got really sick and had a hard time breathing. Ties made it worse. Guess what happened? He was no longer allowed to give talks (service meeting, he was not an elder so no pub. talks) :( how sad is that!?!!!!!!!!

A little about me
by MominAustin ini, too, was raised as a jw.
my mom still goes to the meetings and out in service when she can, but due to age, she has some troubles (she's 69 and legally blind).
my oldest sister is very active although her teenage daughters are inactive and disfellowshipped for very unfair reasons.

ok- I am back. I've just been lurking. Just had baby #2. No advances on the new church. I'm still an honorary member. I love the people there but not sure where it's going to go.

What is the one thing you will never give up no matter how hard times get?
by snarf inwith the talk of everyone trying to cut back and reevaluate their necessities due to the rising cost of products from gas to food, what is the one thing that will never go in your life...a "luxury"item that has wound itself so deeply in your soul you would be incomplete without it?.
my item is a daily frapuccino, those little devils are so delish that i can't even think of going a day without.

Isn't that the truth (no pun intended there - LOL) I was talking to my mom about a year ago and she mentioned how I "know the only true happiness is when your serving Jehovah" HA!!!!!!! I've never been HAPPIER in my ENIRE LIFE and I haven't been to a meeting in YEARS. -- I didn't say this but just mumbled something . :D

When my mom told me about this (I knew months before she did from these boards, heheH) I told her that was kind of silly, if they started too early they were going to be wasting time, people would still be at church or eating after church... she said -- you know how this system is -- people don't go to church anymore ((ROLLEYES))

It's a long story but I did a good fade.......and something happened a few months into my fade process so I had to move......the hall wasn't "equipped" for my new situation and they didn't want to bother to make it so......just wanted me to try and work around it.....I know I am being vague and I am sorry....I guess I just faded well/they didn't care enough combo.
