  i am in the process of writing a letter to my mothers sister (aunt) about the un/watchtower fiasco.

  my aunt will not speak to my mother or father because they are d'fed (for the un/watchtower fiasco).

  however, i guess she thinks that i am a weak link and she sent me a letter, basically, stating the same thing that all jw's say in defence of the watchtower.

  Is the UN a government?

  the contention of the wts that the un is a government is complete hogwash.

  i don't know why it took so long for me to realize this most basic flaw in their defense strategy.. governing requires continuous sovereign authority over, to control the making and administration of policy within, to exercise a determining influence over, to have decisive influence.. the un is an association of nations.

  like nato (which is also not a government).

  I wonder if the equate 'political body' to a government?

  i grew up in the troof in auburn, ny then moved to ithaca, ny with my wife in 1990. we then were at the owego kh on and off in 1995-2000. i was hoping some of the members of this board might be friends that might have gotten out also.

  I've met a lot of dub's over the years and hope to reconnect with some of them as ex-dubs. Also I hope by using my name an sometimes giving hints about where I live (ENDWELL, NY) I will be able to get a JC in the near future. The Icon just reminds me of how I've always felt about knockin' on doors.

  Will the wts face a Muslim backlash over the new tract?

  they do, after all, classify all religions apart from theirs as false, and we've seen in the last few days that it doesn't take much to inflame the more militant factions of islam.

  there's a large muslim community around here, and i can't see some of them taking kindly to being labelled a false religion.. this may not be the best time for the wts to be distributing such "information", but i expect they will go ahead, oblivious as to the sort of reaction it may provoke.

  i hope that nothing much comes of this campaign, but in the sensitive times in which we all live, i can't help wondering....

  You are forgetting about the money. If Crookland gets razed they collect the insurance money and walk. Most of the 'hard' processes (i.e. printing etc.) have already moved from there. Plus they already have plans for a new crib in the DUMBO neighborhood.

  Looking at the XXX theater, its not falling down like all the other buildings. Must be to many dubs in there. Which holds rule number 3 true.
