Struggled getting "Heaven knows I`m miserable now" in though LOL."
Giving talks at a kingdom hall? What could be more appropriate!
That's a fantastic song actually to describe the life of a dub, with a little change here and there
"I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour
but heaven knows I'm miserable now
Someone knocked upon my door, and now I wear a suit
and heaven knows I'm miserable now
In my life
why do I give valuable time
to people (in Brooklyn) who don't care if I live or die
Two decades in hell pass me by
and heaven knows I'm miserable now
I was looking for a lie, and then I found a lie
and heaven knows I'm miserable now
In my life
why do I give valuable time
to people who don't care if I live or die
Armageddon's near, at the end of the day
better study the Watchtower
"You've been a pagan too long" she said
and I naturally fled
In my life
why do I smile
at people who I'd much rather kick in the eye
I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour
but heaven knows I'm miserable now
"See the WT's true history?" she said
and I naturally fled
In my life
why do I count my time
for people who don't care if I live or die"
"Liar" written by the Watchtower, er, I mean, Henry Rollins
in darkness
and seclusion
yeah I know
you've been out there
tried to mix with those animals
and it just left you full of humiliated confusion
so you stagger back home
and wait for nothing
but the solitary refinement of your room spits you back out onto the street
and now you're desperate
and in need of human contact
and then
you meet me
and you whole world changes
because everything I say is everything you've ever wanted to hear
so you drop all your defenses and you drop all your fears
and you trust me completely
I'm perfect
in every way
cause I make you feel so strong and so powerful inside
you feel so lucky
but your ego obscures reality
and you never bother to wonder why
things are going so well
you wanna know why?
cause I'm a liar
yeah I'm a liar
I'll tear your mind out
I'll burn your soul
I'll turn you into me
I'll turn you into me
cause I'm a liar, a liar
a liar, a liar
I'll hide behind a smile
and understanding eyes
and I'll tell you things that you already know
so you can say
I really identify with you, so much
and all the time that you're needing me
is just the time that I'm bleeding you
don't you get it yet?
I'll come to you like an affliction
and I'll leave you like an addiction
you'll never forget me
you wanna know why?
cause I'm a liar
yeah I'm a liar
I'll rip your mind out
I'll burn your soul
I'll turn you into me
I'll turn you into me
cause I'm a liar, a liar
liar, liar, liar, liar
I don't know why I feel the need to lie
and cause you so much pain
maybe it's something inside
maybe it's something I can't explain
cause all I do
is mess you up and lie to you
I'm a liar
oh, I am a liar
if you'll give me one more chance
I swear that I will never lie to you again
because now I see the destructive power of a lie
they're stronger than truth
I can't believe I ever hurt you
I swear
I will never to you lie again, please
just give me one more chance
I will never lie to you again
I swear
that I will never tell a lie
I will never tell a lie
no, no
ha ha ha ha ha hah haa haa haa haaa
sucker
sucker!
oh, sucker
I am a liar
yeah, I am a liar
yeah I like it
I feel good
ohh I am a liar
yeah
I lie
I lie
I lie
oh, I lie
oh I lie
I lie
yeah
ohhh I'm a liar
I lie
yeah
I like it
I feel good
I'll lie again
and again
I'll lie again and again
and I'll keep lying
I promise

Strange Talks part 2
by ilovegravy ini`m not new here, ive been cruising for a few months now, i`m about to send in a letter to da myself.
6 months ago, that would have been a scary prospect, but reading this site on a regular basis has given me the courage to pull my plug.
i`d go quietly, but i want to muck up the numbers lol.... anyway on the subject of strange talks, i`ll never forget when i was a ms, and me and another ms had a "bet" the plan was to see who could get in as many song titles into their 15 min item, or even better a service meeting item...i`m proud to say i got 7 smiths song titles in and later went on to record 12 elvis titles in a service meeting item.

It is everywhere. It is possibly the worst drug out there, mostly due to the fact that its cheap, and you don't have to grow it you cook it. I thought you might be from Oregon when I read 'Meth' because that is the state where the epidemic really took root. I live in the NW too, and it is just appalling the statistics of Meth, especially on the West Coast of the U.S. For those of you in a different country, meth uses psuedoephedrine, the ingredient common in most cold medications, mixes it with a bunch of toxic chemicals, and you can smoke it, pop a pill, not sure if you can shoot up though.
Another thing you might not know if you live in another country, is that meth accounts for 70-90% of other crimes in some areas..like theft, robbery, even rape and murder. It's famous for making you age about 40 years after doping for awhile. Scratching your face, picking at yourself, losing teeth etc etc.
Meth addicts kids also account for (esp. in the NW) a LARGE percentage of the foster kids in the system as well. It is the most innocent who always lose the most with this drug.
I saw a story where these meth addicts taught their 9 yr. old how to cook meth (which is very dangerous as the meth can explode if it isn't cooked right...all those chemicals)....so they'd have her cooking the meth. They were also meth fuelled sex maniacs, and she told the counsellors that they constantly had pornography on the living room telly, would openly have intercourse, and the little girl was sexually abused as well.
It is a very very evil drug, extremely addictive and cheap. -

I was giggly and skinny. Actually, I've always been giggly, found pretty much everything funny growing up. Really good home environment, though now the parents are separated and well, fight alot. I tried to play soccer in my sophomore year, having never played it before. I got put on the wing position where you run up and down the field...and at that time I would get to math class and lay down on the floor because I was so exhausted and didn't know why. I would even lay down under racks of clothes in Department stores. Found out later that I was so tired because I had Epstein Barr virus (MONO) and, er, I like to blame my shoddy soccer career on that! I liked History and photography and drama. Of course, I'm only 23 now. A series of events led me to drop out (shoot!) and get the GED. But, I will be pursuing higher education, and am verrrry happy that I didn't fall in luuurve with a local dude and get preggers before I was 20 like too many of the girls I know.

Here is a true Rip Van Winkle story
by CaptainSchmideo infrom cnn:.
warsaw, poland (reuters) -- a 65-year-old railwayman who fell into a coma following an accident in communist poland regained consciousness 19 years later to find democracy and a market economy, polish media reported on saturday.. wheelchair-bound jan grzebski, whom doctors had given only two or three years to live following his 1988 accident, credited his caring wife gertruda with his revival.. "it was gertruda that saved me, and i'll never forget it," grzebski told news channel tvn24.. "for 19 years mrs. grzebska did the job of an experienced intensive care team, changing her comatose husband's position every hour to prevent bed-sore infections," super express reported dr. boguslaw poniatowski as saying.. "when i went into a coma there was only tea and vinegar in the shops, meat was rationed and huge petrol lines were everywhere," grzebski told tvn24, describing his recollections of the communist system's economic collapse.. "now i see people on the streets with cell phones and there are so many goods in the shops it makes my head spin.".
grzebski awoke to find his four children had all married and produced 11 grandchildren during his years in hospital.. he said he vaguely recalled the family gatherings he was taken to while in a coma and his wife and children trying to communicate with him.. .

They are certainly not E-nlightening.
Anything that defends a twisted and deceitful entity is tremendously harmful, and since it is harmful and deceitful, I suppose one might view it as wicked. If one of my family died from not receiving a blood transfusion based on a lie by a corporation, I would call anything that defended that corporation twisted and evil. -

Getting rid of books, bound volumes, etc.
by ShareyTee ini've been inactive for about 10 years now, and its time for me to get rid of some of my wt stuff, but what do i do with it all???
i have all the wt stuff on a bookshelf in a spare bedroom, but now i need this shelf space.
what i most want to get rid of first are the wt & awake bound volumes.

I don't think you should burn them, it's not like if you don't burn them you're going door to door and entice people to the WT.
Especially the books from the 50's,,,somebody just posted somequotes that I had never seen from a book ofthat decade..
where would we be if the books that are needed as source material to quote and prove was printed by the WT, got burned????
I don't personally own any WT publications, but I would be interested to look through them and see if it says anything. I don't think a former member should burn their books if they are rarer! -

WERE TONAL LANGUAGES ONLY SPOKEN JUST ATER BABEL?
by badboy inpeople who speak non-tonal languages are more likely to have a more recently evolve form of the genes aspm and microcephalin.. this raises an interesting idea.. possibly no non-tonal languages were spoken at the time of the towers of babel.. how would a jw explain?.
-
smellsgood
Ok, I'm not arguing that the tower of Babel in the bible was a true story, but these quotes are a little misleading IMHO
Nabopolassar Inscription , KIB iii. 2.5 : "Marduk commanded me to lay its foundations firm in the breast of the underworld, and make its top equal to heaven ".
smellsgood: Well, I do believe that most of the Babylonian history recorded on the inscriptions is about buildings. Building this, building that. Also, the date (in the 600 B.C.) would be MUCH too late for a lifting of it to be put in Genesis!
Enuma Elish VI 60-62 : " Let its [E-sagila's] brickwork be fashioned ...The Annunaki applied the implement; for one whole year they moulded bricks. When the second year arrived, they raised high the head of Esagila toward the heavens [Apsu]."
smellsgood: the Enuma does in some peoples opinion predate Genesis...so there's that at least.... This passage does not have much resemblance at all to the tale in Genesis, and the generic Genesis quote, everyone talked about bricks in the old writings, in so many instances, so it is disingenuous to compare a mention of bricks in two separate tale to a lifting of a myth
NOW, Enuma Elish V1,,, in a complete way that isn't cherrypicked
51-70
"Let us build a shrine whose name shall be called
‘Lo, a chamber for our nightly rest’; let us repose in it!
Let us build a throne, a recess for his abode!
On the day that we arrive we shall repose in it."
When Marduk heard this,
Brightly glowed his features, like the day:
"Construct Babylon, whose building you have requested,
Let its brickwork be fashioned. You shall name it `The Sanctuary.'"
The Anunnaki applied the implement;
what was quoted by Leolaia 60 For one whole year they molded bricks.
When the second year arrived,
They raised high the head of Esagila equaling Apsu.<<<<62
Having built a stage-tower as high as Apsu,
They set up in it an abode for Marduk, Enlil, and Ea
In their presence he was seated in grandeur.
To the base of Esharra its horns look down.
After they had achieved the building of Esagila,
All the Anunnaki erected their shrines.
The three hundred Igigi . . . . . . all of them gathered,
The lord being on the lofty dais which they had built as his abode"
Genesis 11:3-4 : " Let us make bricks and bake them in a fire....Let us build ourselves ... a tower with its top reaching heaven ".
Leolaia: And on the confusion of languages in a story that has nothing at all to do with a tower:
Tale of Enmerkar : "When there was no snake and when there was no scorpion, there was no fear, no terror....In those days the land of Martu, resting in security, the whole universe , the people in unison spoke in unison to Enlil in one tongue . Enki, the Lord of wisdom, ... changed the speech in their mouths, [brought] contention into it . Into the speech of man that [until then] had been one."
smellsgood: Now this is just a complete misrepresentation of that passage in the 'Tale of Enmekar',,, none of it is actually talking about a confounding of languages at all. It's actually the REVERSE. It's talking about the already MANY TONGUED people addressing Enlil together in a single language!! Yeah! I don't see any mention of an [until then] clearly, whoever added that was trying to make this story into something it was not. Where did you get the bracketed inferences from? They are not accurrate! As one can readily see with the unedited version:
"Chant to him the holy song, the incantation sung in its chambers -- the incantation of Nudimmud: "On that day when there is no snake, when there is no scorpion, when there is no hyena, when there is no lion, when there is neither dog nor wolf, when there is thus neither fear nor trembling, man has no rival! At such a time, may the lands of Cubur and Hamazi, the many-tongued, and Sumer, the great mountain of the me of magnificence, and Akkad, the land possessing all that is befitting, and the Martu land, resting in security -- the whole universe, the well-guarded people -- may they all address Enlil together in a single language! For at that time, for the ambitious lords, for the ambitious princes, for the ambitious kings, Enki, for the ambitious lords, for the ambitious princes, for the ambitious kings, for the ambitious lords, for the ambitious princes, for the ambitious kings -- Enki, the lord of abundance and of steadfast decisions, the wise and knowing lord of the Land, the expert of the gods, chosen for wisdom, the lord of Eridug, shall change the speech in their mouths, as many as he had placed there, and so the speech of mankind is truly one." "
Genesis 11:1 , 9 : "Now the whole world had one language and one speech .... Yahweh confused the language of the whole world .
So, rather the opposite of the tale of Enmekar,,,what do you say? -

I would add that your post Gumby confirms why I was reluctant to post in the first place, that I would be seen as preaching rather than trying to distinguish.
I don't want to be labeled, or regarded as anything other than a poster. I hate labels, and I hate the way that people get pigeonholed and marginalized due to labels. I don't want to be put in a box and when anyone sees my posts think of a label they've attached to me rather than what I'm trying to post. Too much negativity in labeling a person. So again, that is why I was hesitant to post, that I would automatically been seen as a Christian bent on preaching. That's not my desire at all.

So tell me smellsgood. Will Jesus destroy the Jehovah's Witnesses when he knows they worship him the way they do because they THINK they are doing it right? Will he kill all who are misled? Even the Muslims? They think your the one who's gonna die ya know....and they believe as strongly as you do? Your not gonna tell me your not the judge are ya now cuz I'm almost positive you believe the witnesses are goin down....regardless of how sincere they are.
smellsgood: Gumby, I've never claimed to be a Christian, nor am I an active practitioner. What I do understand is the message of the Watchtower, as well as I am able, and the message of Christianity, as well as I am able. Just like I can intellectually distinguish the difference between say, a tree and a Polar bear, so I believe I can INTELLECTUALLY distinguish the differing messages in Watchtower and Christian theology. It is a scholarly pursuit, which leads to your next question. I never said I was a believer. I am using the New Testament and the Watchtowers words because I as an observer and apart from these two can very clearly see the differences. :)
Btw.....what's in this for you? Are you preaching to us so as to gain the Lords approval?
smellsgood: I was afraid it may appear as if I was preaching, although that wasn't my intent whatsoever. The purpose of me using the Christian words and Jesus words were merely the best way I could think of to show what I believe is a marked difference. I don't claim any religion, and am not preaching, or trying to win anybody over to ANY religion. I am identifying distinguishing characteristics of Christianity, and the Watchtower. You see, when I started out learning about the WT, I also read books that juxtaposed this right next to other cults in the vein of Christianity. In order to understand the way these cults worked, and how they distinguished from "traditional" orthodox if you will, Christianity, I had need of having a good idea of what traditional Christianity taught. To contrast and compare. This is one of the ways that cults always contrast and compare with Christianity.
If you keep silent, will the Lord kill you for keeping quiet? He can't do that, your saved by grace and not by works......can he?
smellsgood: This doesn't apply because I'm not preaching Christianity, nor is it my intent, I am contrasting and comparing the Christ in Christianity with the unsaving (this word is necessary not as my belief, but for comparisons sake) Christ in WTism.
Hey, if I smoke weed....will the Lord kill me when he comes? What if I live with a girl I'm not married to but I believe in Jesus and love him? What if I get drunk like twice a month....but I love Jesus?
smellsgood: ummmm. eh? *shrugs*
Please understand it is necessary to use biblical language in reference to Jesus, in order to show what the NT teaches, what a nominal Christian believes. That's what I was doing.
Gumby.....who needs to just be calm and take his prozac and to quit playin around
smellsgood: I like it when you play around though :)
