Remember when our youth and innocence were used and distorted in this way? And we happily clambored together like robots, not quite believing everything we said and did but going along with it and even subtley pressuring each other, too. Getting SOMETHING out of all the attention and back-patting. Tho later we would feel SO ashamed of it all. We were really believing we were actually doing something awesomely good. I felt so sorry for these girls. But then I thought of how LUCKY they are to be living now - in the time of crisis the letter writer refered to. And in the time of the internet. Now we can know someone will actually be there when they fall.

Wow. I hope this author is finally finding some peace and some friends. I hope he knows about us, too.
I would like to make a suggestion about the list. ('If you knew you were going to have to do these things and follow these rules, would you have ever let them into your life?')
I would like to see that list written up in such a way that it could be easily copied and distributed. We could 'save' a lot of people from ever getting involved in the first place.

Were you df'd while suffering depression???
by Pistoff ini have a son who was disfellowshipped while suffering serious depression and who was not actively "sinning".. i feel this is outrageous and want to know how widespread the practice is.
please tell me what your experiences are, i am interested and want to try to get the brothers to factor this in, so we can stop losing people to depression.

DO you REALLY think this is THE END OF JW's?
by minimus ineverytime a new revelation comes to the board, some suggest that this is the big one.
whether it be the blood issue, the u n debacle, the silentlambs saga, some cryptic comment about jw's and their involvement with churches, it seems like nothing effects the jehovah's witnesses rank and file.

I'm not so sure that's true.
It's been the WTS that's been adept at keeping everything secret and everyone blind and uninterested.
Depending on how these future lawsuits pan out and how the march turns out and the things that follow after that, I think it could suffer hugely.
Kind of like the Hare Krishnas or several other 'cults'. Everyone knows something about them, they continue to exist, but they no longer have the power to captivate blindly anymore.

Dr. Morse is a pediatrician who was moved to explore the near-death experiences of children, because there was less cultural/religious influence in their backgrounds.
He's since done other books, too. But the one I mentioned was definitely one of my FAVORITES of all time.
Is this the same one you mean?

Try these books for fun and inspiration...."Closer to the LIght" by Melvin Morse. For brainy intellectual types like yourself (and me - and Dr. Morse!!).
"Rediscovering a Felt Presence of God" for anyone raised in the WTS who is just damned afraid of all things spiritual.
Truly, there's a big world out there that JWs are so afraid of. It's a wonderful place and God is always RIGHT THERE so don't be afraid to have a look.
Everything is NOT pagan and irrelevant, a sham and not to be trusted.
And everyone is not lying and seeking attention and being manipulated by Satan to harm you.

again this case is a civil case and not a criminal case.
the case involves one vicki boer who now resides in eastern canada.

and he also has plans for a very public protest march in the very near future.. can't you see them putting him between a rock and a hard place by dangling his reinstatement over his cancelling the protest?.
