  Seen Any Good Movies Lately??

  so, has anyone here seen any good movies lately?

  i saw "bowling for columbine" by michael moore, and it was excellent!

  i saw "rules of attraction" and it was bizarre, but enjoyable.

  Just saw 8 mile with eminem yesterday. Wasn't bad . Saw it at the dollar movie so what can I say. Any movie is worth a dollar.

  JW alternatives to holidays

  even though you couldn't celebrate holidays growing up as a jw, did your parents ever have alternatives instead?

  in my case, we never celebrated christmas, we had "surprise day" usually a week before.

  instead of celebrating thanksgiving, we would have a turkey dinner a few weeks later.

  If you had parents like that then consider yourself lucky. I was out of the truth 12 years and the wife and I still didn't celebrate xmas or birthdays what idiots.

  But now that I've remarried and am fading I'm doing all the things I should have done the first time. I give my daughter a party the month of her birthday. I'm going to give her a valentines gift on valentines day her and her JW mom (and dare them both to tell their JW grandma). And this past xmas I got her a bike and a cd player and my wife a ring.

  The whole thing of not celebrating is dumb. Children need to be children. And they need more in there lives than just meetings and service.

  If you remember you were one of the first to respond to my initital post and help me on my way out.

  As a kid how did you survive the meetings?

  recently my brother, sister, and i talked for the first time about how we survived the meetings when we were kids.

  i loved hearing their stories.. i had a whole imaginary world i went into.

  once the songs were over and the talk started, i would focus on the speaker to look like i was listening and then zone out.

  When you are a child how in the hell can you pay attention to someone who is almost speaking a foriegn language. Words like thocratric order faithful and discreet slave Jehovah's universal sovernty (or however you spell it) Your only choices were to daydream or sleep.

  But now they don;t want your kids to do anything at the meetings but listen. But I let my 9 year old sleep, draw, color, write or anything else she wants to do. And my dub wife dosen't give me any problem because she was raised in the truth and knows how boring the meetings were.

  What don't you miss about meetings?

  i don't miss being spoken to like i was someones best friend when i know they wouldn't pee on me if i was on fire.. i don't miss always standing on my own and having no one come and talk to me.. i don't miss having people talk around me about the great time they had at the latest sport/barbecue/dinner get-together which i wasn't invited to because i'm not spiritual enough.. i don't miss not having friends in the truth or out of the truth because i shouldn't mix with wordly people.. i don't miss being so bored for all those hours a week.. i don't miss all the false smiles people give me when i look at them at the hall and the way they look away when i walk past them at the shopping center.. .................. anyone got anymore?

  I don't miss the ton of guilt they lay on you for EVERYTHING!!!!

  I don't miss getting out and giving talks. Even though thats something I do well.

  I don't miss going out in service!!!!!!!

  District Assembly Instructions

  am i too thin-skinned or does anyone find that annual km insert dealing with the district assembly offensive???.

  i mean, having to read and comment on those same things every year about not cooking in your hotel room, not to steal food if breakfast is offered, not to poop in the sinks, or whatever they say.

  if you have to give those "reminders," it makes you wonder about the people you are sitting next to during the sessions.. *****rub a dub

  Hey,

  Down here in the South they assign us seats. And also that is your section to clean. But most of us just sit wherever and then just go to that section to clean after the meeting. But its funny you look up to where you assigned seats are and there are no Elders or MS. Mostly just sisters doing as they are told.

  some are not sure he exists.

  Probably not.

  I don't feel like I need God in my life to be complete. I"m not one of those who says my life is complete but somethings missing...Oh yea I need God in my life. Not me.
