  Im gald you posted TracyLee, your story is just horrible and what makes it worse is its all to common.

  You were smart and got out early. i stuck it out for another 20 years trying to blame myself and exonerate the elders.

  As much as i wanted to, I could not find a halfway decent excuse for the WTS actions. Finally when my oldest child approached the age that I was when it happened, that was it, I could not make excuses for those men any longer.

  The two witness rule would be laughable if it wasnt so tragic.

  Read what the WTS says very carefull, it will be very obvious where their interests are.

  Standfirm, I encourage everyone to go to the links you posted and read what the society says about themselves.

  Im sure everyone here is intelligent enough to know that there is not a organization out there that would put in print, "yes we treat children like shit". It is only the norm that the society would have nothing but praise for themselves.

  I encourage you to read it very carefully and notice what it does and does not say, notice the loop holes. Notice how they take pride in the two witness rule.

  Then come back here and read real life story after real life story, all saying the same thing.

  Standfirm, Ive said it before, and I will say it again. You are reporting on what you have READ, we are reporting on what we have EXPERIENCED.

  Paraplegic JW example used at assemblies

  it seems like every time our circuit failed to meet the field service goals set by our co, the very next circuit assembly would invariably include a talk that mentions a chronically ill paraplegic sister who would dial the phone with her tongue to make return visits or conduct bible studies... i must have heard this experience at least 6 or 7 times in the past 20 years or so.

  and every time i heard this recycled talk, they would add even more guilt-inducing twists to it.

  to me, it eventually became way to difficult to believe...

  What about the sister in the iron lung? Shes the one I remember the most.

  She was a full time pioneer, she witnessed to her visiters using a mirror hung above her head, and if she could pioneer then why cant you?

  Every time, all i could think of was, what else is she going to do just laying there?

  i had an argument with my mother over the phone because she was trying to tell me that the witnesses preach the entire world.

  i asked about china and it stumped her.

  several days later we were talking (arguing) on the phone again and she told me that "she asked an elder and they said the reason that china is not in the annual report is because it's all underground there.".

  I hate it that after all these years they can still punch my buttons too.

  I just wanted to be seen as polite, respectful and not a wild-eyed, angry mental defective.

  If I could only manage that, I would consider it a success.

  When I picked my dog up, and he saw her the crying just stopped,after petting her for a minute or two he started smiling and giggling.

  I watched a tv show once about therapy dogs. This woman had several dogs that she took around to childrens hopitals and events for special needs children.

  She had one tiny chihuahua, that was paralized and ran about on his front legs with his back legs in a wheeled contraption. Most people would see no value in a dog like that. But she took that dog around to children confined to wheel chairs and they all adored him, because he was just like they were. One mother said that she took her wheelchair bound son to all the events that involved that dog because it was the only times she got to see her son smile.

  That tiny little special needs dog was worth his weight in gold.

  I guess I am a little jealous of Jaycee because she's believed by people no one is telling her 'oh it was not that bad, or the Garrido's at least loved you, look at least they gave you a tent to live in, or you could have had it so much worse, etc.' That was all the things I was told my the JW's who knew of my abuse.

  This is the part that hurts me the most too. It is an unplesant topic, no one wants to talk about it, expecially the family. Everyone wants the issue to just go away, and I dont think most of the people are aware of it, but they try these tactics to get the victim to shut up and then everyone can pretend it never happened.

  I have never received any validation from the JWs or my family over the abuse issue. They just want to minimize as much a possible.

  They must protect the image of the society at all costs, or their whole world and belief structure will come tumbling down. And they will throw loved family members under the bus, to protect that.

  as I'm happy that being raised as a JW, I never felt free to blow my mind with drugs, blacken my lungs with smoking, or become a spermbag with some incurable veneral disease.

  I was surprised to find that most people on the outside do none of those things.

  Its a lie they use to scare and control you.

  You are perfectly capable of making your own life choices

  Sticking a tom in a boot to castrate him was a common practice in the past. So were all sort of castration without medication.

  In my childhood I assisted in the castration of dogs, cats and a couple of horses all without any medications. It was awful

  Most people, at least in developed countries, have more respect for animals now. But cats are still a common target of all kinds of abuse.
