Found sheep, please explain your statement?
Tubal ligation is one of the healthiest things a woman can do for herself. Child bearing is far more dangerous, even the side effects of some forms of birth control are more dangerous then a tubal.
im not a prude, but i just dont like it when the wbts disgusses the facts of life such as childbirth within their articles - (artists impression of a pregnant woman included) it means that all children regardless of age get to understand things they ought not know as yet... am i on my own with this...
awake january 2011 page 16... (ive not worked out how to make this a clickable link, so if it dont work put this into your browser to go to pdf article).

I think the pregnancy stuff is just fine.
I don't like it when they start talking about anal sex, felatio and cunillingus.
I think that is extremely inapropriate in a family setting.
The first time I heard those words was at an assembly when I was about 8 years old. Such a strange hush went over the crowd that I knew they were talking about something very important and so I listened carefully. I even took notes so that I could look those words up when I got home.
Really, the GB has no common sense whatsoever. They ridicule other churches for having "sunday schools" that are age appropriate for their kids. The GB actually think that exposing kids to genocide, beheadings, being mauled to death by a bear, infanticide, detailed sexual activities, denigration of women, stories about how maybe god will tell your dad to "sacrifice" you, detailed instructions promoting slavery, and the mass destruction of the bulk of humanity is a good thing.
So yeah, pregnancy and birth are non issues with me and I have no problems with my kids being exposed to it.
came across this charity today, thought i'd share it with the forum.
if you're like me, there is more happiness in giving than in receiving brownie points and brownie noses from fellow jw's and elders because you hand wrote antagonizing form letters to malawi authorities who knew that your form letter was from an americanjehovah's witness.
to a student in malawi.
Dammit Six, you just made me bawl my eyes out.
I think Malawi is the worst things those mofo's in brooklyn ever did, I hate them for it. They all deserve to die for it. And not just die, they should be burned out of there comfy apartments, raped and then die for it.
Yeah, I reached for my credit card, I bought two desks, I bet the posters here will end up filling a whole classroom.
thank you Six
i really enjoyed friedmans book, and i feel it gave me a lot more knowledge about the world that produced the bible and a greater appreciation for the bible itself.
i would like to ask for your recommodations on what the "next" book about the bible i should read?.
"Misquoting Jesus" by Bart Ehrman is a must read, you will love it if you also enjoyed "who wrote the bible"
ask them if they are aware of stories like these?
good news does not make the news.
it doesn't sell.
Yeah I miss the good old days.
Back when the black folk stayed in the back of the bus.
When a man could beat his wife with no repercussions.
Child abuse? HAH, there never was any child abuse back in the good old days, you simply never heard about it, now you hear about it everywhere!
Businesses were stronger because you could fire any employee for any reason at all.
And only very healthy kids survived, the weak ones died off and were not burdens to society.
And the further back in history you go, the better things get, Lots of cool plagues and genocides.
Yeah, I miss all that
when i was a teenager i was always counseled because i have a speech impediment.
i have a real hard time with r's.
it was a nightmare giving talks.
I remember one young sister that had a problem with saying "and uh, and uh, and uh", she would get nervous and just could not stop saying it. In normal conversation she did not have that problem, it was just when she got on stage.
She would literally get up on stage and say "and uh" for three minutes straight, it was painful to watch. And of course everyone was so embarressed that the entire hall would go completely silent except for this poor teenager saying and uh and uh and uh and uh and uh and uh and uh and uh into a microphone until the brother told her her time was up.
That brother would sit there and count how many times she said it and then tell her if it was more or less then her last talk, this was back when they counseled you in front of everyone.
This same brother gave a friend of mine a W one time, not because she needed to work on anything, but because she had only received Gs in the past and he felt it was important that she receive at least one W. The entire hall chuckled loudly when he said it. It was all my friend could do to hold back the tears until she was alone. She later cried her eyes out and asked me "why did I even try?"
ok i was raised in the "truth" but no one ever studied with me.
my parents were abusive and i got nothing from them or anyone in the "truth" no bible study any attention nothing from anyone.. i read the great teacher book to myself at the age of seven, and when i was in my mid teens i started studying on my own with no help from anyone nor any answers my questions expect to be rebuked if i asked the wrong question so i quit asking it was god's chosen religion after all who was i to question anything.
i conducted the sort of study and this elder looked at me and said where is your head covering.
The napkin on the head thing never bothered me much, what did bother me was when a adult woman must show "respect" to some 11 year old baptised boy whos voice hasn't changed yet.
In my old hall there was a sister with 2 sons, when the oldest was baptised she informed me that she must now be subservient to him. I could not accept that even as a believer. When her second son got baptised she became a peon in her own home.
BTW, neither of the sons remained JW's
the watchtower has always talked about violence in entertainment.
it is one of the watchtower's historical hot topics.. and for good reason too.
virtual violent entertainment is a very new phenomenon in our world.
Nathan is correct, pick up any history book and take a glance at the extreme violence in peoples everyday lives in the past.
Now, most people don't live in violence near as much as out ancesters did, and that was real, not just simulations.
yup, this is a negative thread.. there are a lot of things but i'll start with one.. jws believe god will destroy 99.9% of the world simply because they aren't witnesses.
this view produces the "i am better than you" attitude because they get to live forever and you will die forever.
(not a nice religion)..
They steal peoples lives
my daughter in law just called to tell me she just finished signing up for college !!!!
she will start in january .
she was raised as a witness .
Good for her, I love hearing about the next generation waking up and taking charge of there own lives before they have effed up most of it.
