if you've ever been in an accident, you have experienced your sudden rise in popularity.
I have seen it.
An overenthuistic JW follow a lady out of a library who mentioned to the staff that she was sorry about being late with the return of books , but she had lost her son recently. This JW stopped her at the door, gave her a witness, then a couple of days later went to the families home to witness to the Father too.

1 at that time michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise.
there will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then.
but at that time your people everyone whose name is found written in the book will be delivered.. 2 multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.. 3 those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.. 4 but you, daniel, close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end.
1 At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people— everyone whose name is found written in the book— will be delivered.
2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.
4 But you, Daniel, close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.
5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.
6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?
7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand towards heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives for ever, saying, It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.
8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?
9 He replied, Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.
10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
11 From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.
12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
13 As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.
I have found some info regarding Russells and Rutherfords views, but what is the current belief on Daniel 12?
i was watching steve martin "leap of faith" pg rated mind you with some witnesses.
he plays a fake faith healer.
their were a couple swear words, and the brothers asked me to switch it off.. same thing happened with christine applegate movie {pg 13} "don't tell mom the babysiters dead.
Remember the film Wargames in the 80's. My dad was studying at the time and had a few JW's around to watch it.
The following days there was a big hoo-hah, apparently they felt uncomfortable, but didn't want to leave through fear of upsetting my dad. The word 'b*st*rd' was said 3 whole times!! And a kissing scene too!!
A couple of weeks later those same JW's came around to watch Gandhi, and my dad had to ask them if that was ok for them. Afterwards it was discussed that although the word 'b*st*rd' was used again, that because it was a factual film it was a natural part of the story, whereas in Wargames it was said for the effect.
The conclusion therefore was that the word 'b*st*rd' in gandhi was acceptable, but the same word 'b*st*rd' in Wargames was not.

just had a brain fart and i don't think i'll actually try this, but see what you think.. .
i made myself a promise that i was done serving on jcs roughly 2 years ago.
and, with the exception of a rubber stamp reinstatement charade, i've kept that promise.
Creativhoney, without pre-empting anything open mind says some elders come on here and learn things about the troof slowly. Their are elders on here that have used their position for the benefit of others. I personally cannot see why anyone who posts here would stay an elder for long, but this board welcomes all JW's (including elders), we all have a starting point for when we begin to doubt and leave, and for some it's coming on here.
Your anger in my view is misdirected towards open mind, it's not he who has ruined your life.
ex jw boy meets ex jw girl....good thing or bad thing?.
.
I'm definately going to go for the date. It's just whenever i've been on a date before, i go with no expectations other than have a good night. This one's different though, i guess as we both know where we are coming from already. It has also made me think, is it a good thing or a bad thing...guess i'll find out lol
ex jw boy meets ex jw girl....good thing or bad thing?.
.
I tend to agree that it has it's pro's and cons.
Don't get me wrong it's nothing deep, it's just a bit of a blind date.
ex jw boy meets ex jw girl....good thing or bad thing?.

i've been invited to attend a wedding reception of a "sister" that i was formerly close with.
there was no major breaking up of the friendship or anything, other than her not liking a statement i made.
just a distancing apart.
Depends....if it was a close friend i would go, doesn't mean that you have to stay late.

(i had to quote the waterboy!).
with the start of (american) football upon us, i was laughing this past weekend when a friend and i were remembering a km school we attended.. the visiting "brother" (losch) basically went on a tirade against sports, but specifically football.
you would have thought that watching an nfl game was akin to sitting in ancient rome cheering on the lions in the colliseum eating christians.
Aahh we're talking about American Football, for a minute i thought we were talking about REAL football. i can now see the visiting brother's point of view.
Come on England !!! Let's give them Croat's a beating !!
