Thanks Atlantis. Could i have that 1985 edition if you have it?
Paul
does anybody have a pdf or know of the year of the edition, where p23 of the kingdom interlinear states that 'while we're inclined to view yahweh as the more correct way.....'.
apparently the later editions state that 'many are inclined to view yahweh as the more correct way.....' which is on an p 12. .

after looking at some read the bible in one year plans, i have been toying with the idea of giving it a go.
i don't know if anybody has come across these plans, but each day of the week you put about 15 minutes aside and read a bit from the ot, a psalm, an epistle and a gospel.
eventually after a year you've read the lot.. although as a jw i have read most of the bible, i only did it within the constrains of referencing from a wt publication.

Although as a JW i have read most of the bible, i only did it within the constrains of referencing from a WT publication. Most of my NWT was covered in my own writings and comments, like a good studious JW.
Anyhow after 13, 14 years out and during this time trying to go the atheist route, the last couple of years i have examined just about every doctrine with a view to forming my own opinion. In my head i still debate doctrine, whether that's JW doctrine or anybody else's, i guess i have been thinking of late why not just read the bible and see what i can get from it.
So a few days ago i bought myself a NIV, it's so refreshing, it almost feels like a different read to the NWT that i'm used to. Even though i've been out so long, i always used the NWT because of my familiarity with it.
The only issue i have with the NIV is replacing the tetragammoton with LORD, but at the same time i have issues with Jehovah anyhow and think it should be translated as Yahweh. Although there is a translation, i believe the New American Bible uses the word Yahweh i wanted to use a translation that is not doctrinal bias. As the NIV is non-demoninational and uses many different scholars i have opted for that.
It is refreshing to actually read the bible without any doctrinal constraints, i can't believe the WT actually discourages independant reading of the bible.

ex jw boy meets ex jw girl....good thing or bad thing?.

my father (who's an elder) just sent me this link...and i'd like to get yall opinions on it before i call him back:.
apostates and other opposers argue that jerusalem was not destroyed in 607 bce, but in 587 bce, and provide what they claim is archaeological evidence to support this.
if 607 bce is wrong, then the seven times prophecy ending in 1914 ce would be wrong also.. .
The weakest link in the WT argument is the 537BCE date for when Cyrus announced his decree. The WT uses the word 'probable' in estimating the time it took for the Jews to be released, yet at the same time place a certainty on the 607 date.
If the 537 date is probable and an estimate, then so is the 607 date and in turn 1914.

on the handy ladies thread, i noticed that loubelle mentioned changing tyres..
it's t-i-r-e.. also, a car has a hood - not bonnet.. and, it's organization - not organisation.. sheesh!.
sylvia.
Yorkshire pudding is pancake mix Sylvia....flour, eggs and milk. Pour the mix into something like one of those multiple cake tins and bake for about 10/15 mins. They are gorgeous. If you're really adventurous then pour the mix into a bigger cake tin, scoup out the middle and put your dinner inside it...mmm
A further recipe to Yorkshire pudding is toad in the hole. Pour all the mix into a large baking dish, along with sausages and bake....a very cheap meal my mother used to make.

When i used to work at the Toyota plant we used American terms for the cars...hood, tail, sedan, etc. It was confusing to start with, but after a while i began to use those terms in everday language. Even though i haven't worked there a number of years, i still call the bonnet a hood lol

An overenthuistic JW follow a lady out of a library who mentioned to the staff that she was sorry about being late with the return of books , but she had lost her son recently. This JW stopped her at the door, gave her a witness, then a couple of days later went to the families home to witness to the Father too.
