THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!
by Englishman inhaving had a week away from home, i'm astonished at the way some posters have started to behave.
this site seems suddenly to be full of vitriol.. now i don't pretend to be every one's favourite pussy cat, and i will always be as outspoken as i choose to be, but i do not attack people personally, i only attack what they believe if i am convinced that their beliefs are anti-social or detrimental.
i don't attack the person propagating that belief.

I don't think you've changed. Certainly in the last month or so i've been here, i would say the atmosphere of the board has changed. I would say that some who post here, just want to provoke a reaction.
Personally....i do not post on there threads.
If you feel you have to comment, then just be yourself...i've always found that you are one of the posters who seem genuine and easy to talk to.Yours dig

Marijuana...should it be legalised?

i) who has the right to tell me what to do with my own body?.
ii) alcohol is a legalised drug....each year more deaths occur through alcohol abuse than marijuana usage.. iii) people smoke it anyway and the question is not bein addressed.. iv) it's great to get stoned!!!

You make some sound arguments when it comes to comparing Holland to other countries.
I visited Amsterdam in December and found it amazing how attitudes are so different there. We smoked in one coffee shop, sitting by a window on a main road!....the whole situation was so surreal. In another coffee shop we smoked, a child about 10 or so was in there...he came in with his father to pick up his mom, who worked there.
The whole scene there just seems to be accepted.
Remember Euro2000...no trouble in Holland compared to Belgium...put down to the fans smoking.The fact that marijuana is illegal, in my view just criminalises the majority of the younger generation....may be the situation will change in the future, i don't know. However, i don't think that will be soon...politicians have to much to lose in terms of votes.

Your right, it comes down to balance. I see to many young ones leaving the 'truth' in my area who just seem to go wild with pot. It seems as though they have not been allowed to do do certain things...so when they have the oppurtunity they seem to go to the other extreme.
That said, i'm certainly goin to have a smoke tonight...then a few beers!Yours dig

Take your point englishman about any type of smokin.....
but, u speak about watchin your heart go into the 80's, strugglin to survive...
i have never heard of anyone strugglin to survive after smokin marijuana...have u?
your heart goes into the 80's for many reasons...including goin to the gym, don't get me wrong i'm not equating smokin with goin to the gym but just because your heart goes faster does not mean that you are goin to die.u say lie in bed with lung cancer.....lung cancer is caused through smokin tobacco....there are other ways to smoke marijuana. Another point, what about takin it in through cakes, etc.?
u say keep your pot....fair enough i will, but should others tell me what i do with my life....even if that means smokin pot?

The Long Goodbye......
by hillary_step inafter a transatlantic discussion with my wife we have both reached the conclusion that we will not be posting to this board again.
though we see the board as serving a useful purpose for some, it does not at present suit the path that we have chosen to walk to extract ourselves from the wts.. this board is in an invaluable place for those of you who have recently left the wts and need a place to stretch your wings and share you hurt and pain.
but once we learn to fly, it seems important that we should leave the nest as quickly as possible, lest we become caught in a vacuum between the wts and real life.
