I loved helping out on the hot food. It was just an excuse to miss the convention, think that's why they stopped it.

in god s holy word the bible you can find evidence that god s kingdom was not established in 1914. and according to the prophecies it will be estblished later in the future.
and we can not calculate the time point.
in acts 1:7 the apostles asked " lord, are you restoring the kingdom to israel at this time?
Ive done a bit of research over the last hour or so, particularly with reference to VAT4956.
It seems to me that that are lots of secular discrepencies over the dates of the fall of Jerusalem and i would be very interested to research further over the forthcoming days. Any info you have JC would be greatly appreciated.

god bless you.
so you worship god on sunday?
didn't god commanded us to keep the sabbath day?
Are you trying to spam this? You will notice you're only allowed to start 2 threads

You've come to the wrong place if you think JW's only worship on a Sunday. Witnesses do believe the Sabbath is a Saturday, so maybe you should have done a bit of research before you preached your Seventh day views here.
Witnesses also believe that the Sabbath should no longer be observed, that the need to keep the sabbath was done away with along with the Ten Commandments at Jesus death.
Witnesses worship every day, not just a Sabbath.
Maybe you should have looked into this before you started to preach at us. But not only that, you will find that many here are ex JW's not practicing. I would like to say where you can take your preaching, but i think it will be moderated.
God bless you too.

the following scriptures given show the reasons why i cannot worship the god of the bible.
call him jehovah, yahweh, yhwh, lord, father, jesus, whatever you will.
the passages are taken from the new world translation, because we are all familiar with it and also it was the only one i really had at hand.. gen 3:16 ... " to the woman he said: 'i shall greatly increase the pain of your pregnancy; in birth pangs you will bring forth children, and your craving will be for your husband, and he will dominate you.
A newbie here, posted recently that sin is a social construct, i feel that is right. It is something that has been made up by man for control.Sounds like stuff pumped out of a university sociology class. I know something about that since sociology was my Bachelor college major. Wrote many a social construct paper.
Let's start with a definition of sin:
1. transgression of divine law
2. any act regarded as such a transgression,
3. any reprehensible or regrettable action, behavior, lapse, etc.;
4. to commit a sinful act.
5. to offend against a principle, standard, etc. First, God is pretty clear that he put notions of his law inside of the human. I can see this law at work in my 3 yr. old. He seems to know that drastically harming his brother is wrong...even though he is none too happy about his little brothers' arrival and wanted to know many, many times when he was leaving.
To disregard that definition of sin by saying it is from a sociology class is a very loose argument. That's the same as saying i am going to disregard everything you say because you are a christian.
Your own definitions have been taken out of something, maybe a dictionary but not the bible. The bible clearly says that the wages of sin are death. How can we be born like this and get punished? Surely an unloving God.
Your 3 year old shows that he knows the difference about right or wrong already, without being told by the bible about it. You've kind have shot yourself in the foot with that one.
Punishment can only go so far.... but it is necessary at times. God, the father has chosen which times are which in our development, both individually and collectively.
So it's necessary to kill unborn babies, babies, children, pregnant women, women, men old and young, firstborns, cities, civilisations?
Thanks for your wisdom on the matter, i feel so much more enlightened.

i just got into a discussion recently about the laws regarding justified employment discrimination.
next thing we knew the conversion went on to college admittance.
can jehovah's witnesses apply to med school?
Hi and welcome Rev Sara
You have asked a number of questions and i will try to answer them for you.
Can Jehovah's Witnesses apply to med school? Can they become doctors? Or nurses? Or Vet's? Or even vet techs?
Yes, to all of these. However further education is discouraged amongst young witnesses.
Can they give blood transfusions even though they can't accept blood?
I didn't think that they could and am surprised at Lady Zombies post. I remember when i was a witness, we were even limited to jobs that involved serving food that had blood in it, such as black pudding and certain game meats. Although doing these jobs would not be a disfellowshipping (ex communicating) offence, your standing in the organisation would be limited and certain ' priveleges' wouldn't be allowed.
Then, there was a debate about could they be organ donors or receive organs?
Witnesses accept organ transplants as a ' conscience ' matter. This being that some witnesses cannot justify it therefore would not accept it. However faced with a life or death situation and no clear guidelines most witnesses would accept it. The witness will justify it on the basis there is no clear statement from the bible on such matters, only on abstaining from blood.
Can they receive transfusions if it is their own blood? Can they have surgery and have their own blood circulated back into their system during the surgery?
Witnesses cannot store blood for future use, this is based on some scripture that says blood leaving the body must be poured on the ground, i can't think of the verse at present. They also seeing it as ' eating ' blood which the bible condemns. However, again on a ' conscience ' matter, they can view blood circulated back as never leaving the body. For instance, some would see kidney dialisis as an extension of their circulatory system, therefore never leaving the body.
I hope these answers have helped. What witnesses fail to realise though is what a precious gift from their God, life is.

has anyone tried it?
if so for what ailment and how effective was it?
some people never experience any side affects others have severe ones,
I'd like to see evidence of that. It's safe to say that long term use will produce side effects. Whilst Marijuana is good for pain, it should not be confused as a medical drug. Much research has to done, it can be very damaging.
Paul

Using Marijuana on a regular basis for medical use has to be done with caution. The side effects of regular use is well documented, paranoia, depression, etc. Years of regular use makes a person very moody, producing a couldn't care less attitude, giving problems within their personal life. Alot of research needs to be done to gain the beneficial side of cannibis and removing the harmful side effects.
If anyone wants to use Marijuana on a long term regular basis, then balance the side effects.

You have mentioned there was a revised Jewish timeline but have not given any evidence for such. I admit that i not a bible scholar, but have taken 587BCE as the date, based upon Zedekiah's elevenths year reign and also Nebuchadnezzars reign starting in 605BCE. From what i have read most scholars dispute between 586 and 587BCE, but i have never heard of anything different.
As i have said i am not a bible scholar but if you say that there are two Jewish timelines i would like to see the evidence for such, rather that just you saying so. I am open minded and if there is evidence i would be interested to see it. Also if there are two timelines, how do you know which one is the correct one to take? Most academics must take the original was as the true one if they point to 586 or 587 as the date for the fall of Jerusalem.
Going back to what i originally said though, was to inform the new poster that the JW's do have it wrong with 607BCE.
Saying that i haven't learnt anything is a very condescending line to take.
