i was watching an interesting documentary called "sex with neandathals" last night, about the possibility that neandathal man could have been assimilated into the human gene pool by interbreeding.. it showed how modern man came from africa, whereas neandathal man came from europe.
at some points their paths crossed, but rather than modern human driving and forcing neandathal man into non existence they learned to co exist.. this is a developing theory amongst some scientists and anthropologists that seems to be getting a foothold.
it has been shown how similar species of animal have interbred, giving an example of two very different types of baboon.
Hmmmm okay so are they suggesting that those of us "pigmentally challenged' got that way because of the Neandathals genes?
No yknot, they didn't develop the theory that far although i assume if the theory developed into mainstream that someone would.
I remember reading somewhere once that there was a hypothesis that red hair came from Neanderthals. O_O
Though they did show that Neandathal has a "redhead" gene, showing that some may have been ginger! However, it was not the same gene as modern day humans.
Good links BTS.

The documentary shown how Neandathal man, far from being ape like was more human, which is now universally accepted. Two burial sites have been found of Neandathal children with objects placed by them. One scientist argues that the skeleton of the child has similarities of both modern man and Neandathal.
Studies are being done with a bone found that contains DNA of Neandathal, it has shown that there are some of the same genetics, such as language, whereas others are different. However the study is not yet complete, so time will tell i guess.
They argue that modern day humans are so varied in terms of colour and genetic make up, that this could be an explanation of the variation. This theory would also explain the "disappearance" of Neandathal man, in that the species hasn't disappeared at all.
Wondered if anyone had any thoughts?

growing up as a dub i always belived mankind was inheritantly good.
that because of adam and eve being perfect, they then ate the fruit and so that sinful side was passed on through the generations.. since leaving i have often wondered whether mankind is inheritantly good or evil.. when wicked acts occur, this makes me think that some have this evil deep down inside of them.
yet when someone helps others i then think that maybe some have good inside of them.. so is mankind inheritantly good or bad?

So is mankind inheritantly good or bad? Are some people born good and some people born evil? Or is it a case that all of us has the ability to behave evil and good?

Hi fb130, welcome to the board.
If you were to ask an average JW about the UN connection, chances are they would know little if anything about it. Many would turn around and say it's all lies.
Below i have put a link directing you to the UN website with a pdf of a letter they have put up regarding the issue.
www.un.org/dpi/ngosection/pdfs/watchtower.pdf
Stick around and you'll find you'll learn alot more about the Watchtower society.

this is a response to a question posed, " how do you know cyrus released the jews in 537bce, rather than 538bce or 536bce?".
by cyrus' decree the jewish exile was ended therefore fulfilling his commission as jehovah's anointed shepherd' for israel.
(2ch 36:22, 23; ezr 1:1-4) the proclamation was made "in the first year of cyrus the king of persia," meaning his first year as ruler toward conquered babylon.
This is a response to a question posed, " How do you know Cyrus released the Jews in 537BCE, rather than 538BCE or 536BCE?"
By Cyrus' decree the Jewish exile was ended therefore fulfilling his commission as Jehovah's ‘anointed shepherd' for Israel. (2Ch 36:22, 23; Ezr 1:1-4) The proclamation was made "in the first year of Cyrus the king of Persia," meaning his first year as ruler toward conquered Babylon. The Bible record at Daniel 9:1 refers to "the first year of Darius," and this may have intervened between the fall of Babylon and "the first year of Cyrus" over Babylon. If it did, this would mean that the writer was perhaps viewing Cyrus' first year as having begun late in the year 538 B.C.E. However, if Darius' rule over Babylon were to be viewed as that of a viceroy, so that his reign ran concurrent with that of Cyrus, Babylonian custom would place Cyrus' first regnal year as running from Nisan of 538 to Nisan of 537 B.C.E.
I will give the guy credit, at least he attempted a response. But notice all the if's and uncertainties in the answer. You would think that such a central doctrine that 1914 is to JW's that the 537BCE date should have some certainty to it.

watch what happens when a highly-unlikely-looking contestant blows the audience and the judges away.

He won Britains Got Talent.
He went on to release an album which i think got to number 1 in the UK and many countries in Europe. The press made a big thing over here that he had done well in the States but it sounds as though not many of you have heard of him.

...oh and he fixed his teeth
ok for those that don't know i have been going to aa for about six months now.. within the aa program step 3 of the 12 step program speaks about turning our will over to a higher power.
as the aa does not align itself to a religion or sect the closing prayer in an aa meeting is said to a god of our own understanding.. when i first went to a meeting and it closed with a prayer i left fuming.
i thought i had put the god thing away 12,13 years ago.
Very nice post Voideater. Food for thought

i just thought i'd briefly introduce myself.
my name is april, i am a navy wife and mother of six children, will be 30 next month, and have been disfellowshipped for almost 12 years.
i was also reproved two years prior to that.
Welcome to the board.

.
i start my padi open water scuba diving lessons later this month and i'm really looking forward to it.
anybody here done the course?.
I dive Nic.
Started in October of last year, love it. I went the BSAC route though, rather than the PADI. It's more club orientated, get to meet other divers and become part of a club, whereas the PADI is better if you just want it for holidays and stuff.
Is it Stoney you're going to be doing it in?
Paul
Edit ... Aaarghh...I've just noticed it's an old thread bumped. There should be some warning or something, anyway i dive.
