Agreed with sass_my_frass, as written this makes little sense. Also, a small investment of time Googling reveals that this verbatim article is all over the place but with nothing to back it up except itself. In other words, the only "official confirmation" is from the original source itself, round and round; gee where have we seen that tactic before.
As well, it seems that "Dylan Pattyn, who is writing the soon-to-be published article for Time Magazine" is actually a guy who is affiliated with the original source and is planning to submit a freelance, unsolicited article to Time Magazine -- not exactly what's implied by the article, which makes it sound like he's a neutral Time columnist writing an expose.
I'm not discounting the larger and very real issues of Net neutrality, but come on folks, it's a good thing to vet sources and information.
My guess is that this is an overblown conspiratorial reaction to Canadian providers introducing per-visit charges FROM CELL PHONES. Which is true, but a big stretch from what these people are implying.
Show me one "official" source that doesn't loop back to the "original" source and I'll reconsider. Otherwise, I don't buy it. -

How can I prevent harrassment to my kids from self-righteous dub relatives?
by candela ini live with my hubby and children outside of my native country.
we will be going home for a vacation soon after many years.
we're faders and most of our jw relatives have adopted a don't ask-don't tell policy about our decision and we are perfectly fine with it.

How Can We Expose Child Abusers - Who Got Away with it as Witnesses ?
by flipper ini got the idea for this thread by talking with a friend this weekend who had been abused by a father when young.
this person confronted this parent about it and got a very self righteous reply back from the offender.
already a precedent for exposing the watchtower society has been set.

Homerovah, I don't think anyone here is advocating "no action." What is being debated and examined is the TYPE of action, and rightly so. Simplistic extremes are rarely good solutions, especially in matters of such complexity and fragility. One size does not fit all, and the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
(Edited to say, I type too slowly and others are expressing what I'm trying to say more eloquently than I can. I need to walk away from this thread.) -

I have. Sort of. He now knows (didn't always) that I "interact with apostates" and use many "apostate" resources for my research. He accepts that but doesn't want to know the details, which I respect.

I understand and appreciate the sentiment of this, but it is a can of worms that could very easily backfire. Publishing names of abusers without "official" documentation to back it up exposes the victims to legally pursuable liability. I'm not saying that it's right or fair, but something like this could end up with perpetrators successfully suing and re-victimizing their victims, or those acting on behalf of the victims.
If you are looking to compile a list of known abusers, I would suggest vetting the list via the public record. The very LAST thing you want is a situation that exposes victims to potential repercussions from their abusers via the legal system. And that is a very real possibility with publishing a list of names with no "official" record to back up the accusations. Whistle-blower documentation would apply here also -- verifiable documentation "leaked" from wherever -- but just a list of people publishing names and personal experiences ultimately exposes the victims to further assault from a legal standpoint.
I'm just saying, please be careful with this and make sure you fully understand how the system works, and how it can blow up in your face, because it can. A victim of rape/molestation/abuse having to pay restitution to their abuser is a sick and damaging scenario that could very easily result from this, if not handled properly. Please consult an attorney and/or other relevant professionals before pursuing this idea. -

My first convention
by kurtbethel ini went to the district convention in san diego.
i got to see first hand the good, the bad, and the ugly of what transpires at a convention.
the worst fears of what i was warned about never materialized.

Thank you for posting this! I have never been to a convention, and so have a lot of curiosity about them (not enough to actually ever attend one though LOL). Your comments and pictures were so light-hearted and fun, I wonder what the people there made of you! It sounds like you endured this event with your sense of humor intact throughout.
I have read and heard about the Keep Moving guys. The idea of that has always seemed so ludicrous to me, and now I have finally seen one. He looks just how I pictured them to look.
I am curious about all the umbrellas, and all the empty seats. Does most of the stadium stay empty the whole time, with all the people crammed into a smaller section? And I see a lot of large fancy umbrellas in those pictures, some of them practically open-air tents. That seems like a hefty thing to lug around. Are they provided, or do all of these people bring their own?
Thanks again for sharing this. I know most people here have endured way too many of these things and probably cringe at the thought, but it's a bizarre curiosity to me and I loved your funny approach to it all. Thanks for letting me experience this vicariously -- the only way I'm willing to do it LOL. -
