This is terrible, I'm so sorry.
Maybe after a little time has passed, you and your family can do something together to honor and remember her. I really liked the story a poster above shared about having a "photo tile" made and putting it under his dog's favorite tree; maybe you could do something like that together with your son.
I am sorry for your loss

Resurrection Hope - People in the Future who think they have lived before
by VM44 inaccording to the watchtower, a resurrected being is a body that has placed within it the memories and attributes of a person who had lived before.. the "life force" is transferred to the body to bring it alive.
also according to the watchtower, the "life force" is impersonal and contains no personality.
it is like electricity in that it is an actuating force.. ok, so in the future there will be billions of people with memories of having lived on the earth.

Well, I think that the scenario "sort of" works as a hope for JWs who are living NOW, because they basically teach that Armageddon is sooooo close, and surviving Armageddon means you'll still be "you" in the new system and not one of the clone beings (I think?). So I can see how it wouldn't be AS disturbing, looking at it like that, because after all why fret about people who died long before you, whom you never even knew. For loved ones who have died that JWs hope to see again in the new system, I believe the average JW just refuses to think about things like this. It's a fragile, shallow hope that falls to pieces upon close examination.
Having said all that, I do think the entire scenario IS extremely ghoulish. I would much rather die and stay dead than exist in such a system, as either an intact Armageddon survivor or a resurrected clone. The whole thing just seems horrible to me and I will never understand the appeal. -

Marking for reference, because I am really curious to see the answers to this.
I have never been able to understand the great appeal of the resurrection and the paradise; to me it sounds like a nightmare (for many reasons, beyond this one). I would much rather be dead! My JW says I feel this way because I don't understand it, fair enough LOL but I've yet to hear an explanation that makes it sound good. Sure the parts about people petting lions and never getting sick and so on and so forth sound good, but any real questions (like the one posed in this thread) that go beyond the silly surface stuff get completely glossed over, as if they just don't think about them and don't WANT to think about them.
To me the whole scenario sounds wretched and creepy and worse than death. -

This thread is an absolute delight! It has made me smile :-)
My humble query:
Dear Happy Homemaker,
For one who has been grossly negligent with cleaning duties over a long span of time, at what point does it make more sense to just burn the house to the ground and start over?
I am asking for a friend, of course

I think I made "The List"
by RR inso jehovah's witnesses came to our door, this is about the fifth time, i always miss them, but they talk to my wife, this time i was home due to the holiday season, the man was an elder, he came with a newbie, thought he would show her "how's its done"), the young women sat there with mouth wide open, as she watched me beat up her elder with his own bible.
well after discussing the scriptures for about 2 hours, (subjects included: salvation, ransom, permission of evil, god's organization), she looked at me and said "amazing, i've never heard it explained quite that way before.".
the elder asked me what religious affiliations i had, i told him, "i am with the associated bible students.

Serena Williams and her "god jehovah"
by worf inafter losing the wimbledon championship to her sister venus, serena williams was being interviewed on the court yesterday, and here is part of what she said: "i thank my god jehovah for being out here".. okay, so according to her words, jehovah blessed her by allowing her to be there to participate in a competitive sports championship match.
and not just any match.
wimbledon!

I think it's great these two young women are so focused and accomplished, and that they're making the most of their talents and thriving and achieving in life. BUT...
The problem I feel when I read about this kind of thing, is that it presents a skewed view of JWs to those who don't know the reality (which is the vast majority of people!). I am an UBM, and I never had a clue what JWs and the WTS were really about until I got "educated" up close and personal. My non-JW friends, family, colleagues, etc also have had no idea, and many regular ("worldly") people think I'm crazy when I tell them what the real deal is. JW celebrities who seem "normal" and healthy and successful and unrestricted don't help these misperceptions.
None of that is the fault of the Williams girls, of course; it's just the fact that every time one of them talks about Jehovah and the JWs on TV or whatever, it gives a subtle witness to "worldly" people purely by virtue of making JWs seem harmless and relatively mainstream, which they most certainly are not. -
