JW Theology and the NY disaster
by msil inif i am misquoting the theology espoused by jws then please correct me.. but i am trying to appreciate their theology as far as death and armageddon are concerned.
we know that the jw belief is as follows: "he who has died has been acquitted of his sin".
this is often used to imply that almost all who die prior to the great tribulation or armageddon will receive a resurrection of life or judgement (ok we know sodom dudes, judas and the flood victims wont get one according to jw theology).

Gas Prices
by larc inwe have been informed in dayton that gas prices will go up by midnight by 4 dollars a gallon.
i hope this is another false alarm, but i am filling up in either case.

price outside of Philadelphia is still between $1.39 and $1.50. there seems to be isolated incidents all over the country, but there will be a gas price freeze within the next couple of days.

WTC Destruction a Mild Preview of Armageddon
by mikepence inyesterday's horrific destruction of the world trade center left me speechless and in tears.
yet, faithful jw's view such a horrible tragedy as minor when compared to the horrible destruction that their god will rain down on mankind any day now.. i challenge any faithful jw to explain to me how they will watch the *entire world* come to a similar fiery end, and then *rejoice* at the vindication of god's name.
will you be telling people out in field service how you view such horrible destruction as a good thing?.

My mom left a frantic v/m for me here at work while i was on lunch break saying how "the gas prices are going up and blah blah blah...".....this is interesting for two reasons - (1) she doesn't know what she is talking about and (2) she could barely hide the glee in her voice. what a loving sister who is a pioneer! i feel sick inside.

What I heard the JW's say in light of this tragedy

at least i hope not.
there are some good, caring people, but here are some stark contrasts i've observed today that remind me of how glad i am that i'm not part of such an overall unloving group of people.

although i'm a JW in good standing, my wife and I are planning on leaving the org. ASAP. I no longer believe many of the teachings.....yesterday i experienced both sides of what is expressed in this post....my mom who is a regular pioneer made several disgusting comments and only cared about the JW's who may have been killed. HOWEVER, at bookstudy last night nobody made any comments like that and actually were pretty reasonable and concerned. I really don't think you can say that ALL people of a group are a certain way. That is really close minded.

i think of all those poor people and their grieving families, and my heart goes out to them.. well, you know, i have to say this: ....my money is on you.. i think you nailed it this time.... what is the verse about them "growing faint out of fear"???.
all i can say is..stay tuned.....you guys ain't seen nothing yet..... the fun begins when the terrorists are identified and recompense is sought by the united states.. oh, and not to mention the ramifications in the global markets..... yep, like i said folks...."welcome to the gt.....and the finale is the big a"... this is a day that will go down in world history.. chipster

i ate lunch at my moms today, she is a regular pioneer and pretty insane when it comes to being a JW. I can confirm that she kept saying things like "oh, i just know that there were brothers and sisters in the bldg" and stuff like that. When i reminded her that many, many people lost their lives and that it was tragic, she seemed shocked. bloodthirsty and pathetic. i've never been so angry with my mom.

i actually was doing a search, jus tryin to learn how michael jackson's appearance came to be so radically changed..(that's a whole nother topic, and i came away, feelin sorry for him, after all i read, but, another time ) and ran across this forum.
im 41, was "raised" in the truth, my mother and her whole side of our family are long time witnesses, my father converted when i was around 4 years old.
