New JW Scam?? Here in Australia...
by TheApostleAK init's good to be back on here.... ok, is anyone aware of this particular scam that seems to be big here in adelaide, south australia.
i've heard a couple of times were jw's have befriended old people (particularly one's that live by themselves) and get them to a) join up or b) become good friends with them.
after being friends for a while the jw's 'suggest', 'coax' etc, to the old timer to put them down (the jw's) on their will.

there is a difference between asking for donations (no matter how annoying its worded) and scamming someone.
All of this "the borg is evil" talk is really funny. You guys are like the ANGRY XJW CULT

I saw Sigur Ros in Philly a few years ago...absolutely stunning. Never saw something like that before in my life.
I think if a band is great, there is always a chance it will break into the mainstream.....I have loved Fountains of Wayne since the first album came out 8 years ago, and was really happy for them when they broke in a big way....
Portishead hasn't broken up by any means....they are still recording...the album was supposed to be out this year, but its been delayed till 2005

I going to picket my parents convention this weekend!
by Atilla inok, my parents have pissed me off so much with their denial and their refusal to even acknowledge my complaints against the borg.
they pretend everything is perfect at the kingdom hall and expect me to play nice to their dub friends so as to protect their own reputation.
this weekend in philadelphia, they are going to to their little convention and i have some evil thoughts.

you'll look like a crazed apostate....confirm everything they think about you. Its really stupid. You should just show them how happy you are by living a great life.

We finally saw Fahrenheit 9/11
by Mulan indave got home early on wednesday so we hustled off to the afternoon showing.
(cheaper seats).
it was amazing...................very compelling, and thought provoking.. one of the most upsetting things was towards the end when he revealed that of all 96 (not sure of that number) members of congress (senate and house) only 1 member had a child in the military, actively serving.

That article is full of errors Richie....sure, its not the jobless recovery, but as I said its been proven that many many people are accepting lower paying wages and come off the unemployment rolls...Aren't you in Canada anyway? I can see firsthand how hard it is for some friends both in Seattle and Philly as well as New York...not for everyone but for alot of people.

Nice post Mulan....Michalina and I are curious to see this movie....Michalina is more sold on Kerry than I am, but I think a movie like this is good for debate about what is going on in this country.....I think if you are brainwashed on either side (like several people in this thread) than you just aren't reasonable....like the JW's at your door on a saturday morning. To say things like "if you oppose the war, you aren't human" is ridiculous.....I support our soldiers, but i'm still not sold on the war.....Safer country since 9/11? I dont think thats a valid statement either.
I did not like several scenes in "bowling for columbine"...some of it came off as shoddy manipulative journalism.....
Roaring economy? Are you smoking crack Yeru? People who made $25 an hour are accepting jobs that pay $12 an hour and so they count as having found work....My dad works in manufacturing and is worried every day he will get laid off.....they forced him to take a 3.8% pay cut just to keep his job....and oh yeah...no more raises. Just an annual bonus....Yeah, the economy is really coming back. Give me a break. It is if you make minimum wage up to about $16 an hour the economy is providing new jobs....anything more than that....good luck. Maybe in the part of the country you are in...but i'm in seattle and my parents are in Philly...both cities have it hard.....

I'll take Kerry over Bush any day of the week....great post Mulan....just because someone changes their mind doesn't mean they "flip flop"...
The fact is is that so many things can be pointed out about any politician......better of both evils is my point of view...

Is this term a witness or "apostate" saying?
by freedom96 ini was talking to a work associate the other day.
i referred to someone as not being da'd or df'd.
he paused, chuckled, and said he had never heard that term before.. he has been an elder for twenty years.. i related the story to my wife, and she suggested that maybe those terms are "apostate" and not circulated around the hall.
-
DIM
they are cult terms, used by jw's and xjw's alike, since both groups are cults.
