Should be taught? I doubt he said that. Check the editing and Ben's voiceover carefully. He could have played what Dawkins said then twisted it in a voice over saying 'See, he thinks the alien angle should be taught in schools!' when Dawkins had said nothing of the kind.
Intelligent Design offers no science to examine. It only seeks to find holes in evolution. Does that sound like science to you?

Why would a scientist discuss aliens in the first place? I don't know of any scientists that have proof of one.

What this nearly always comes down to is a feeling, nothing more.
The millions of believers are split too. Millions feel certain Allah is with them, millions feel certain Jehovah's Witnesses are the one true religion, millions feel certain reincarnation is a reality. With all the contradictions in these beliefs, millions of these people (and perhaps all of them) are automatically wrong, because they can't all be right.

I've answered how aliens are different to a god, and so did Richard Dawkins in the article above. He also addresses the claim that he now believes aliens designed us. You don't have to read it, but if you're refusing to could you please stop repeating what you're saying? One of the great things about forums is that you can get feedback to your questions. You'll have the chance to shut yourself off from opposite views when you go to church today, but here it's good to be open.

I'm suggesting possibilities. Things like that are a hypothesis. They all get put on the table and then research is carried out to try and answer the question. It's a very humble thing to do - admitting you're not sure of something. It means the search for the answer can continue. Saying 'my god did it' is only going to shut off the search, don't you think?

Two of many possibilities:
1. This universe is part of a multiverse, with all universes in the multiverse having natural beginnings.
2. Time started with the big bang so there was no 'before'. Like saying there's nothing north of the north pole.
I'm willing to wait to see what really happened. You've decided to dismiss the thousands of other gods and holy writings without looking into them and accept the most popular god and book in your society.
On the point of evolution, I've found the only reason people disbelieve is because they don't understand it. If at any point you want to, I can take you through it and show you all the evidence. It would require being open minded though, so if that's not you I'll leave you to your beliefs.

Why are aliens more plausible than a god when it comes to intelligent design?
Simple. The aliens themselves would have still had to EVOLVE. The aliens would not be outside the universe, they would have developed naturally within it.
A being outside our universe who started everything off would have to be *poof* instantly there and there forever, and a whole lot more complex than the universe. It's amazing how believers can say 'well, look at the universe, it must have been created!' instead of accepting it could have been here forever in some form, then go on to accept their chosen deity was there forever, even though they have no proof of its existence. You only have to use your senses to know the universe exists.
Not sure why people would laugh because we don't know how life started yet. Pretty arrogant to assume we should know everything our descendants will come to know. We only landed on the moon 39 years ago and we'd been wondering about it for thousands of years. Even worse to make up an answer because 'I don't know' sounds scary. Big questions of this sort have always had a natural answer where people used to insert their gods. Of course, what progress is being held back with all this superstition? One has to wonder.

It was great believing in the tooth fairy. Even though it wasn't true, it was fun. I didn't hate my parents for lying, I understood it was all for fun.
Teaching me about the lie of God was a mistake however. No fun in that. Only fear and a block to scientific facts.

Doesn't that cover more mainstream Christianity too? The thought that the world is controlled by Satan, they're worshipping the correct god and that only true Christians are his chosen people isn't limited to JWs.
our home galaxy contains up to 1 billion stars...our universe contains over 50 billion galaxies with billions of stars...why here would god take his stand...send his god son to deliver us...a big galaxy with a nondiscript star with a few planets and we are the center of gods attention...makes you wonder....sometimes...

Though I cannot say with 100% certainty of course, I do not see a universe where the most important 'creation' is humankind. I can throw the Biblical god out of the window right away. It's such a small petty god and I feel it completely undermimes the beauty and wonder of the universe.
Think about it: A being that creates everything... EVERYTHING. Billions upon billions of celestial bodies, billions upon billions of life forms. The scope and vision required is unimaginable. Yet this god considers homosexuality a sin, he thought women should be killed if they didn't scream loudly enough during rape, he allowed billions of creatures to struggle for survival in an unforgiving world for billions of years before humans evolved naturally. Mass extinctions, the dinosaurs inhabiting this planet for millions of years while humans have only had 120,000 years. 6,000 years ago (remember the universe is 15 BILLION years old!) he finally lets us know that humans are his most important creation and that they are the only creatures that can live for eternity after death. That is, if you worship him alone for he can get a bit jealous. Jealous?! The creator of the entire universe suffers with a human emotion which evolved naturally from 'lower' life forms?! He will kill you or send you to a place to burn forever if you don't believe he sent his son to the Middle East 2,000 years ago because he cared sooo much for us?!
The universe has been a 'fallen creation' since the start. It has absolutely nothing to do with man. Humans were born into a world which was already full of suffering. Which is why I have to pick up on this point from Sad emo:
Correct theological understanding teaches that God sent his son to redeem the whole of creation , not just mankind - so that includes all the planets and their inhabitants, all the galaxies, all the stars, all the black holes plus whatever else yo want to add - hence all the references in the Bible to 'creation groaning' - and more impotantly the new heavens and new earth - when the redemption is completed, they will be renewed and cleansed
Most of the elements in the Universe come from the DESTRUCTION of stars. Without that 'groaning' no planet would have formed, no life would have come about. We owe our existence to the death of something else's existence.
Galaxies collide, most animals go extinct, eventually planet Earth will be destroyed too. I do hope our species makes it off in time to continue surviving. Science fiction it may sound right now, but that's what was thought about landing on the moon at one time. No one's saying it won't take thousands of years. Of course, what chance do we have to grow and for some or all humans to make the permanent move away from this planet when most of this insignificant (in the grand scheme of things) species believes in a small minded creator that listens to their thoughts and promises eternity in the afterlife for talking or singing to oneself or reading ancient writings from other arrogant and uninformed humans who hadn't even invented plumbing.
The universe is much more wonderous than anything humans have imagined about their place in it or their god, and I wish more people would search for the real answers instead of pretending to be humble about their impending eternal life in a perfect magical realm.
