Are Believers Truly Humble?
by serotonin_wraith inif you are non religious, do you still feel those with religion show a higher level of humility than others in society?.
on the face of it, i feel most would answer in the affirmative.. but breaking it down, i find it harder and harder to accept.
in fact, i'd call it the opposite of humility.

God's Plan
by serotonin_wraith ineverything that happens is part of god's plan.. atheists are speaking out against religion.. therefore, this is part of god's plan.. do theists have the right to complain?.
on the flip side,.
some religious people will complain that they aren't getting special treatment (immunity from criticism, for example).. even if their complaining is a part of their god's plan (as everything is).... atheists don't believe in their god so don't actually have to pay any attention to that argument..

The Blind Shall See Again
by serotonin_wraith init's amazing what happens when humans get together to solve problems instead of waiting for a god to step in and fix things for them.. one less job for jehovah to do in the new system.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4411591.stm.

My Visits To Church
by serotonin_wraith inwhy would an atheist go to church?
to seek out a god?.
no more than a historian seeks out ra or hathor by researching egyptian religions.. those religions are dead now.

Christians: Do You Uphold the Sabbath Law?
by serotonin_wraith inif the biblical commands are to be followed, and god's morality outweighs or controls our own, i must say i feel the law about not working on the sabbath seems to be ignored for the most part.. some of the laws found in the ot have now been set aside by many christians - not stoning disobedient children, for example.
believers may show how jesus' arrival on earth fulfilled certain rules which only applied to the jews of the time.. can the same be said for the sabbath law?
it still appears in the ten commandments, and i was under the impression those rules had to be followed today.. if all sins are equal, it's a little odd how we don't hear of any groups picketing at supermarkets every week with signs saying 'god hates sabbath workers'.

Who Do You Speak To More - God Or JWD Members?
by serotonin_wraith inif i thought there was a magnificent spiritual being who cared for me, i would pray every day, not just if i felt low and had no one else to talk to.
we don't spend time with friends only when the going gets tough.
we share the good as well as the bad.

Could You Live Without God?
by serotonin_wraith ini have said before in past posts - i think a belief in a god is because of two bad reasons.. 1. ignorance (not always deliberate at all) of certain facts.
the universe and life on earth was not designed.. 2. wanting to believe in a god.. so, to focus on the second, i can see why people would want there to be a god.. you see dead loved ones again, you live forever, you have a purpose set out for you, you feel there's always a being with you through even your most difficult times.
for those who believe in a god, could you live without one?

The Spread of Muslims in Europe
by serotonin_wraith inthe spread of muslims in europe.
it seems inevitable that a hundred or two hundred years from now, the majority of people in europe will be muslim.
this is based on the number of children they are having compared to non muslims, and the presumption that they will be told from a very early age they are muslim too, and taught to believe the same things as their parents.
