  If I had to pick one, (that at least describes the importance of getting on with life after JW), Vienna by Billy Joel would probably be it.

  Otherwise, there are a lot more that depend on mood.

  Making friends in the "truth"

  what is it about making friends in the organisation am i the only one who had found it tough?

  don't get me wrong there was some good people but unfortunately there was also a lot of egotism, back stabbing, jealousy and gossiping.

  i could never really fit in any group, everytime i thought i had found a group it was as if i would be sidelined or ditched.

  massive numbers of people are out in chicago and have shut his event down.

  there were scuffles inside the event.. despite his lame attempt to pretend the violence he instigates is nothing to do with him it's clear that it is as the cnn quotes during the last event showed only too well.. this doesn't happen at anyone else's events - candidates have even given up the stage to protesters, not called for them to be beaten and punched.. trump is an ugly person and this is just a small taste of what a future under his rule would be like.. shame on the gop for not kicking his ass out.

  After leaving what did you Major in?

  i am curious if my observations are correct.

  i noticed alot of exjws end up majoring in the social sciences.

  i am also interested in what educational choices people have made either while fading or while completely out.

  I also took the STEM approach and did my undergrad long before I left, having two rather liberal, slightly older JW friends that made it possible for me to go college as a JW. I earned a B.S. in Telecommunications Management at the time, (that was 25 years ago). I much more recently earned my masters of engineering in Networked Information Systems with a concentration in business practices. I am quite certain I would not have pursued a masters, had I remained a JW.
  

  I certainly do not regret any of that, as it allowed to be become quite successful over the last 22 years or so. However, if I had not been raised a JW, I likely would have taken a more pure science route and majored in physics. I still plan to work on a doctorate in electrical engineering.

  I am losing

  i haven't posted anything for a bit, but wanted to express how i am losing this battle.

  it has been over 3 years now since i woke up about watchtower.

  the battle that i am talking about is the tug of war with my wife (i adore her immensely), watchtower is winning, she simply will not give in to my so-called negative thoughts about the religion that we are in.

  It is not an all or nothing dichotomy. The key is, does she accept you for being you?

  A little more to the point:

  If she expects you to pretend, then she really isn't accepting you for being you.

  If she thinks that by keeping you involved that something might spark your interest again, she is not accepting you for being you.

  Those two points you should resolve to be firm about, and make them talk points of serious discussion. You won't be happy in the end pretending.
  

  You also need to be accepting of her decision to remain a JW as well, if that is what she wants.

  If in the end, if both of you can accept whom each other are, you will be fine. This applies to all things in a relationship, not just a person's religious affiliation.
  

  Children can complicate this enormously.

  Wow, another great one from a perhaps the best era in music ever.

  I saw Carl Palmer with his new band a few months back at a small venue in PA. We were right above the small stage. He has a three piece band, all instrumental. The bassist actually did the Emerson keyboard stuff on the bass, (used a 5 string jazz bass and something he called a "stick"). It was an amazing show. Carl appeared to be in great shape for close to 70.

  the girl next door - What we are witnessing is the demise, once and for all, of the GOP. Sorry Republicans and Trump supporters, and no it is not Obama's fault. It is yours, for fucking up due process and obstructing Obama at every turn. Now sit back and watch your control of Congress disappear. Good time to rethink your party affiliation.

  No, they have the power they have because of the $$$ of the gun lobby. If only I had that kind of influence.

  No, it is not rhetoric at all. These are facts based on sound mathematical principles of probability, used across many fields of study. Call me condescending if you want, but if the pro-gun folks on this board applied the same critical thinking skills to this issue as they applied to leaving the WTS, they would see the same patterns of logical fallacy.
  

  Sorry, but the rest of the world gets it. Being different is not always "good". Dislike on.
