"They no longer attend meetings"

word has got our that mr. and mrs. truthseeker no longer attend meetings.. we still live in the territory of our old congregation.

instead of taking the time to call us and see how we're doing, the "friends" prefer to talk about us behind our backs, one of whom passed information to my wife's mother (who is a loyal witness) that we do not attend meetings.. just waiting for the ball to drop.. .

Haven't been to a "memorial" for 8 years because we decided no meetings meant no meetings. I didn't want to become one of those people who only came for the memorial for the last 30 years.

Same here, Blondie. When I walked out of the KH three years ago, (almost to the day), that was it. When Memorial came and went, it felt a bit strange to miss the first one, after going for some 25 years. It was at that moment, when I realized I did not want to go to the Memorial because I was happy for the first time in my life. I then ordered CoC, and that confirmed what I already knew.

Jehovah's Witnesses a religion with nothing to celebrate

this is a re-hash of a post i made a few years back when i had only just 'left'.

but as time has gone by i have become even more convinced that the witnesses are, how can i put this, a fairly miserable lot.

it seems to me that what separates humans from other animals is our culture and traditions.

We celebrated Christmas as a family up until the time I was 7 or 8 years old, (when the bOrg transformed my mother into one of the collective)...

It was an odd age to stop, just a couple years after I started school, (a mindfuck, if you'll pardon the term).

It would be another 25 years before I would celebrate again.

This will be my fourth Christmas together with my new family.

but to be fair, jw's teach that most all of these characters refer to the leadership of jehovah's witnesses, the governing body.

Toward the end of the class, there is a "shredding" party that would make Nixon proud. Everyone has to turn in their binders, it is loaded into carts and taken into the Patterson basement, next to a garage, where we gleefully shred every bit of the schedule, and all of the tests. YHWH knows they don't want that crap getting out.

Wow! Talk about blatant duplicity!

i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.

he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.

I only knew Ian a little bit, but enough to know he was a good man. My condolences. This is awful news. Please know you are in my thoughts.

just to let everyone on here who knows my dad, that he is seriously ill, and unfortunately on life support.

he has renal and respiratory failure as a result of the quickest onset of pneumonia i have ever seen... it came on in the early hours of this morning.

he is waiting for an intensive care bed but the nearest one is 200 miles away.

The Reason ex-JWs Don't Communicate Well With Others

i've been giving this a lot of thought.

i'm thinking that, as a born-in, i was raised thinking that everybody who wasn't a dub was stupid and i had to go door-to-door to enlighten them.

and that the ones who were so stupid and stubborn as to not respond to my message (which was all of them, lol!

Jeremy, I've tried to discuss this with my Dad but he doesn't "get it." I'm one of six children. Three of my siblings are Dubs, three of us are out. My dad is not a Dub, except by association with my mother, which affects his mindset considerably. Anyway, he can't understand why his children don't come around him and visit him and have a strong sense of family. I've tried to explain to him that, being raised as Dubs, we had to try to distance ourselves from him emotionally because he was not a Dub and was going to be destroyed at Armageddon. We were taught to distance ourselves emotionally from all non-Dubs. Even when you're no longer a Dub, it's hard to learn how to embrace and be close to people because, even with the Dubs that you loved and cherished, you were trained to watch them with a suspicious eye and tattle on them if they did anything of which the WTS didn't approve and were taught to be prepared to switch off your heart if the person were, heaven forbid, DF'd. I feel Dubs are trained from birth to keep all good, strong emotions at arm's length. I guess I'm talking about the conditional love. But when you've been taught so well how to love conditionally, it's difficult to train yourself how to act differently.

Ouch!...But so true...
