It's funny, because I was thinking about that too earlier this week. When I left, I had to de-condition myself and teach myself how to be a regular person. I wish people luck all the time, I say "bless you" when people sneeze.....I celebrate every freakin' holiday I can think of! Peace, bee

Ever realize you're forgetting and like it?
by Mysterious init just struck me today how much jw behavior i have forgotten as opposed to the parts that are irritatingly hard to stamp out.
i realized how often i toast, buy meat without checking the label, swear when i drop something, research anything i want on the internet, go to metal concerts, etc.
i think sometimes we don't think of how far we have come but only dwell on how far we have to go and we shouldn't.

by blindersoff inthis was great fun.

This is sort of off topic, but "campaign" related. I got a flyer on my door Thursday inviting me to the upcoming DC. When did they start doing that? This is the second encounter with JW's in a week. I am starting to become paranoid. Have they found me? B

ARRRGH. Hate this weather today!!! No way it was only 97. I live in Gladstone and driving back from my sister's place in Oregon City, my car told me it was 102 degrees!!! My poor hubby is lying on the living floor with the fan blasting him, watching "Deadliest Catch" because it shows men working in really really cold conditions. Bee

My Friend is dying
by oldflame intwo weeks ago a very dear friend of 20 years had a heart attack.
he went to the hospital and they inserted three stents.
we all thought he was going to do well afterwards.

Old Flame, I am so so sorry to hear about your friend. A very good friend of mine died on the 19th of June. His death was sudden (he was 25 and physically healthy) and I am still in shock. I have to echo what another poster said earlier--surround yourself with people you love and who love you if you can. And if you can't do that in real life, come here and we will surround you with sympathy and good wishes. Peace, Bee

Name the good things that Jw's have or believe....
by AK - Jeff inwe always seem to get focused on the bad - and there is plenty of it for sure - and anyone who follows my posts knows i am no wt apologist by any stretch.
but focusing on the postive is a good thing in the 'moving on' process i think too.
what do you think jw's had right?.

No fiery hell Also--and I don't know that I can attribute this to the WTBTS--but I have hung onto to the idea of the "golden rule" and I have to say that I am a very moral person, by reasonable standards. All of that may have been from my parents, but I am willing to concede that maybe going to meetings, etc. had a hand in a bit of that. Oh, also--learning how to sit through boring-ass meetings helped me later with school and work. Bee

Thank you serendipity, I like your avatar. I used to post under a different name (don't remember what it was). It's been awhile since I have visited this forum and I decided I wanted to come back. ;) Bee

I heard that Dixie Chicks song, "I'm not ready to make nice" and I thought to myself, "Self, that needs to become your motto." Most of my life I have been the one to stop the boat from rocking when other people were trying to tip it over. I swear, I would make a great referee or mediator or something. But, you know what? I'm tired of playing well with others. So, Purps, you hang in there and keep coming back here to vent and let it all out. Peace, Bee

Min, I have to say that I agree with the people who have suggested that you let your mom be about the blood issue. If she's a true believer, there really isn't anything that you can say or show to her that will change her mind. After all, there are still people out there who believe the earth is FLAT. I know it's hard to see intelligent people be so stupid about things. My parents are JW's still and talking to them about these issues is like talking to a wall. No rationality, no logic. I'm sorry you're going through this. Bee
