Crabs Legs
by Crumpet inokay poor excuse for a thread - but can everyone take a look at my avatar and just say what you see.
its a cultureless experiment!
i'd prefer not too many insults but i guess i've been here long enough to live with the worst you have to offer!

Another lawsuit... this one in Oregon.
by Elsewhere incomplaint: negligence, breach of confidential relationship, intentional infliction of severe emotional distress.
once again the elders appointed a convicted and confessed child molester to a position of responsibility as an officer and ministerial servant of the congregation.
this time the accused name is jerry anderson crabb of the lancaster congregation of jehovah's witnesses - 4795 macleay road se, salem, or 97301. sadly, as one would expect, he has been accused of sexually abusing a child on multiple occasions.

Since we're keeping this at the top, I have a question: If churches, etc. are either required or strongly encouraged to do background checks on volunteers and employees, pastors and other ministers, why don't JW's do this? Bee

Insensitive talk assignments
by Steve Lowry ini once was assigned a talk on masturbation when i was about fifteen or so.
the theme of the talk was to discourage masturbating (actually to forbid the practice), as it was considered by the society a no no.
looking back on it, it offends me to this day that they would give a kid such a sensitive and embarrassing talk assignment like that.

I had to give that talk. Never once did I actually mention the word "masturbation". God, it was MORTIFYING. I think I was 16. And I had to give the talk with my best friend.

Thanks JWD
by mavie ini've grown more mentally in the past 3 months than the past 8 years.
the support here along with the freedom to think without restrictions is great!
i'm starting to see how many different points of view are out there....and that it is ok to disagree on different points of view and still be civil...something not taught as a dub.. it's like opening my eyes to everything around me i never noticed before.

Mavie,
I really like it here too. I left the "borg" nearly nine years ago and apparently, I have forgotten A LOT about the weird things the WTBTS put out in their magazines. I was reading some articles on www.watchtower.cc and my mind was totally boggled that I ever thought this shite was the "truth".
I kind of feel like my eyes have been re-opened.
Have a great weekend.

Sadly, I have no baby pictures of myself. I wonder what my regular pioneering mom would say if I rang her up and said, "Hey, mom, can you send along some baby photos of me? I want to post them on this exjw forum I visit." "What? Nooooo...they're not apostates! They are just really smart people who woke up one day and realized they were tired of being brainwashed!"
No, really....I think I will ask my sister, I think she might have a pic or two of me when I was little.

Computer Game Recommendations
by Uzzah inokay, i used to be the guy with all the latest gadgets in fact i was the first bethelite i knew to get a personal internet account and the first to upgrade to a 14.4 modem (dating myself eh!!).
but for the past couple of years i haven't upgraded my home pc.
it has been primarily for my home based businesses (email, word, excel and powerpoint type stuff and casual browsing) so my faithful p2, 10 gig hard drive and cd reader (only) has been sufficient, but damn it i want to be able to do more!

Uzzah,
I personally don't like FPS games that much....I am not good at running and jumping and killing things...I am more of a puzzle/rpg girl. I am currently playing Dreamfall, which is the sequel to The Longest Journey. I really like both of these games because they allow you to get REALLY involved in the game world. I also really enjoyed both Syberia I and II. The Syberia games are visually stunning. Just beautiful graphics if you have a good system -

How many people do you 'witness' to?
by cyberdyne systems 101 ini find these days that i'm talking to so many people about being a jw and why i am not one now, and in a sense 'giving a witness' as they would term it - only from my point of view its to say why they should avoid it.
i always say to people to ask any witnesses who call on them to ask how the animals managed to cross over the continents after the flood?
like how did the kangaroo's get back to aus?.

The more time I spend on JWD, the more I talk about being an exjw to my friends, co-workers, and family. I have one coworker who was studying with a witness for awhile and she asked me SO many questions that I had to actually do some research and then I got to tell her all about df'ing and stuff. It was kind of fun being a real live apostate! I like the t-shirt idea, too!
