  WT magazines in different territories

  when i was a jw i always had a question that i don't think i ever got to the bottom of.. it was do the jw's in different countries get different versions of the watchtower and awake magazines?.

  it always struck me that the magazines were always very america-centric and a lot of the issues addressed wouldn't be applicable to jw's overseas.

  living in the uk i found some of the articles to be extremely patronising and i could only imagine what an african or russian jw reading them would be thinking.. there were articles about conserving money by only taking one holiday a year or only having one car in the family.

  As far as I know the society provides them.

  For a sizeable donation, of course. The wt does nothing for free. There is always a price.

  Although from Canada, I now live in the Philippines. I do my utmost to avoid the watchquirer and asleep magazines, but...every so often one passes my line of site. I cannot comment on content, but the cover presentation is very much local.

  when i was in my teens, i had spent the night at a jw's girlfiriend's house.

  we stayed up most of the night but were required to get to the kh the next morning for the sunday meeting.

  i sat in the back row and apparently nodded off.

  Many years ago, probably early to mid 70's, I was attending a special talk at Massey Hall in Toronto, Ontario. About halfway through the program, an elderly man about half way back stood up to (I found out later) use the washroom. The speaker, happened to be the CO, stopped talking, pointed to the elderly fellow, and said very forcefully "SIT DOWN UNTIL I AM DONE".

  Boy, I wish I knew then what I know now.

  if you are a fairly intelligent or reasoning individual, how do you just ignore flaws or holes in the wts reasoning. If dubs are as informed about the bible as they claim, when you read certain scriptures and hold it up against wts theology...there is a big problem

  If one can't ignore the flaws and tow the wt line, the only sane answer is to leave.

  Your second point is very true. That is why they are taking such a shit kicking these days. Their "theology" can't stand up to the information available on/through the internet, and our collective ability to share that information.

  Guess we are both on the same page here afterall. hehe
