  A look at 1975

  a few years before 1975, bruce bainbridge, a jw who was our camping with some of the friends, relates this little story:.

  "on the way to the outhouses that same evening, while walking with one of the congregation's ministerial servants, a tall, impressive individual who hadn't seen me for at least eight years said, " you know bruce," putting his arm around my shoulder and squeezing tightly, "if this old world doesn't come to an end in 1975, i'm going back to my old evil ways.

  Very good point HS, old friend!

  RR, I really do wish you the very best in your journey as a Russellite (Bible Student?). No sarcasm at all intended.

  However, you really come across as a self righteous person while trying to so hard to be cool (cynical) to fit in on this board. You dont need to do that. I feel that most of the participants on JWD are good folk that will go beyond anything to help you if they can trust you.

  Please correct me if I am wrong, but I have never once noticed you giving public support of someone in pain on this board. Maybe you could give a little word of "Christian" encouragement to someone coming out of the JWs? Perhaps a "rahrah" for someone who has taken a real stand against the WT and damn the consequenses. So many on this board give such wonderful sentiments to these ones. Someone who is bereaved, where is RR? Where's the love?

  If you REALLY want to proseletyze, try a different approach, one that shows love. This is not an ad hominem attack, just keep referring to the paragragh above. Can you answer it?

  In conclusion, you simply must find a way to intelligently back up your beliefs with love.

  From one dirty apostate to another (I even take baths)!

  My Bethel Experience Part 18

  this is the fun one......... health, dismemberment, death (natural and unnatural) murder and suicide.. well its sunday afternoon, portland oregon, february 18, 2007.........its been 34 years,.......i 'm just drunk enough, excuse me,.....i mean "self medicated"enough (p.s.

  juni sweet heart.... i love you), to start writing this chapter.........the people at bethel were killing us spiritually!.......and sometimes they killed us physically too.....i'm not letting myself of the hook...i was there and i was as bad them..............no, i'm sorry i was worst then them......and why?.....because i knew better....those bastards didn't know any better .......we need to send them some love........the thing they can't give us ................we need to give them......... love............. "thats all you need" .

  first off....... when you go to bethel, you sign a document stating that if you die while you are at bethel, the society has "the right" to keep your body.........most people, just sign it and forget about it, but don't you think that is just a little strange?..........i did.

  Great series new boy!

  I have read each installment with intense interest.

  A good friend of mine had a severe accident at Walkill on a belt sander where it ripped the skin off of his palm completely. Youchh!

  It was a serious accident that required an immediate skin graft. Well guess what, they trucked him down in extreme pain all the way down to the Brooklyn infirmary (passed about 68 hospitals on the way).

  According to him they ended up grafting skin off of his buttocks to his palm. He also happened to be a quite hirsute (hairy) fellow. He took alot of ribbing about having a hairy palm for a little while! We know what you been doin'!

  They treat their hard workers like cattle and we all really appreciate how you have shed light on the "House of God".

  more "odds and ends".

  i liked lyman swingle (governing body member)......he knew when to curse at the right time.

  i think, thats why i went to him, when i was having so much trouble with debbie's parents.......he seemed "cool" and down to earth.............he might have been bit of a racist though.. one time a self righteous (known as sr) new boy, went to him and complained about what he heard in the bindery..........."brother swingle" the kid said "i heard some brothers cursing, in the bindery!

  There are some that were Jehovah's Witnesses that have become Bible Students. Whatever blows your skirt up is fine with me, If that wet blanket feels fine, whatever.

  On the other hand, your sharing of the ramblings of lunatics from CrazyTasy all the way to recent history is something that they just cant deny. From day one the movement has been a monument to false prophesy.

  I appreciate the time that you spent in refreshing these red faced moments for the WT.

  In Memorandum

  it was the 14th of april last year that i had to sit my mother down and tell her i was an apostate.. i was closer to her than anyone else.

  my father and mother are still married, but he let her raise me as a witness, and that meant it was me and mom.. me and mom in field service for 100 hours in july because she had to make her time as a regular pioneer.. me and mom fighting over what to bring for lunch to the district convention.. me and mom up late at night, when she would berate me, and then unload all her problems on to me.. me and mom and our 4 hour family studies, where we discuss 2 paragraphs of a random book, and then she would browbeat me until early in the morning.. somehow, through all that, i pretended to be a witness for years, just to appease her.

  looking back, i don't know if i loved her, or if i was just afraid of her.

  Damn Richie, your eloquently written words shook me harder than a British au pair! I dont think Dylan Thomas could have summed up your experience better.

  I've got to be 30 years older than you, but have endured the same kind of abuse at the hands of my "God fearing" mother.

  Even when I was in short pants, I always used to wonder why my family life was so fu%*ed up if this was God's only chosen channel. Since I left, my mother will not have anything to do with me. My mother would tell me when I was little that she would kill me in my bed if she thought for an instant that I would ever "leave Jehovah". Thank God I left in my 40's. These things have a way of working out in life as I dont think that I (or my loved ones that have come out) should be around her anyway.

  I empathise with your pain and wish you all the best.

  May you find great success in life. The world is your palette and you will have the advantage of not having to rear children the same way you were raised.

  Wow, good question min.

  I used to live on this site especially back in the go-go years of JWD awhile back. I used to keep up with every poster while not posting much at all. The day I may make jedi will certainly be an accomplishment!

  Nowadays I notice posters that have 5000 posts under their belt and I dont even recognize their name.

  To answer your question, I come here about twice a week if that. I never log in either. I have my password written down so as not to forget it as I dont use it frequently enough to stay in my memory.

  I certainly havent cast off my ex-jw brethren, instead I have been consumed by a satisfying life. Whilst not having an advanced degree, I have risen to the position of CMO of a large company. My immediate family has come out of the spiritual North Korea called the WT and I spend most of my off hours enjoying them very much. Back in the early 90's I left a very good job to "reach out" again and be a good example of theocratic headship for my family. Makes me gag to this day. It took me years to get back career wise to where I was, but I am grateful to be where I am now.

  Menopause/Hormone Imbalance -- Need Girlfriend Advice!

  here's the situation: i'm 51 and had a hysterectomy a year ago.

  i'm on premarin.

  physically i feel fine but mentally i'm kind of foggy-headed, over-emotional sometimes and detached at others, and, um, not entirely reasonable a good bit of the time.

  Hello Nina/Girlfriend.

  When my wife and I first left the JWs, we watched alot of "christian TV". On one of the channels we took notice of a Dr Helen Pensanti hawking her products and taking issue with her problems with Premarin. Honestly, she made some valid points about the drawbacks of mares urine.

  My wife was having such a hard time with menopause (irritable mood swings, dryness, dont want to get too graphic etc). She markets quite successfully through the evangelical outlets. So much so that her products are in several chain stores. I dont watch that crap anymore, but we feel that was the only good thing that came out of that experience.

  In our case, it helped my wife greatly. It is a natural product. I am very wary of "natural cures", but it has very much improved her mental clarity as well as other things.

  She may play to the Christian Right, but her product is almost always sold out at Albertson's (I know that you will recognize the local store name) and I panic when we cant find it in stores!

  Big Screen TV`s

  i`ve looked at them all,plasma,rear projection lcd,dlp..the nicest picture i`ve seen to date,is the 62"hitachi rear projection lcd..unfriggin believable!

  !..it was beautiful..cost:$2999.99..any suggestions on big screen tv`s with a remarkable picture?...outlaw

  Hi there OUTLAW.

  I just bought a 42" LCD hi-def tv and it is greatness. I debated on a plasma until I saw how the picture looked side by side. LCD is much better IMHO.

  I also considered a DLP rear projection LCD, but while awfully good, I didnt like the picture when viewing it from the side. Just my personal opinion.

  Whatever decision you make, I know that you will enjoy the home theater experience!
