  Finally going to college...

  even though "the end" is so close you could reach out and "touch it with your tonge" i'm going to get my degree.

  i have been inactive for more than ten years, but because of the wife i still go to church (i just can't call it "the hall" anymore, at least in my heart) on sundays from time to time.

  and guess what, when i mentioned that i was going to go to college, i was asked why i would want to do that?

  Name the good things that Jw's have or believe....

  we always seem to get focused on the bad - and there is plenty of it for sure - and anyone who follows my posts knows i am no wt apologist by any stretch.

  but focusing on the postive is a good thing in the 'moving on' process i think too.

  what do you think jw's had right?.

  Thank you for all the kind comments. My story has been told many times, so I did not want to bore you with the details. But suffice it to say, I was raised as a JW. For as far back as I can remember I was told not to worry about - INSERT PROBLEM HERE - because the end was coming so soon. I was never encouraged to do well in school, and just barely passing was good enough for my parents...who thought my time would be better spent serving Jehovah. Geez, it's a wonder I ever amounted to anything. Thank God at least I loved to read, and in 1997 I bought my first computer and went on the Internet. The net saved me. I can really see why the GB fear it so. I met some very interesting and intelligent friends online, including a Doctor and Engineer. We made jokes about my "outcome based education", and they gave me the encouragment I never had to improve myself. I guess this paid off to a certain extent already, as I aced the English placement tests, and was placed into English Comp 1A. I feel that I will do much better than I ever did in High School, as now I WANT to learn. I'm really looking forward to this. If I do well, I intend to transfer after two years to a State University, and get my BA. Who knows where this will lead. But at least I can dream of a Juris Doctorate.

  Oh don't get me wrong. I no longer believe they have "the truth." My point is I would not care if they did. If THAT is the truth, I would rather die. BTW, you should have heard my wife when I told her I was going to get a degree in Justice. Actually it was not too bad until I told her than one of the possible job areas was law enforcement. LOL. I just really wish my eyes had been opened thirty years ago. But I must tell you, it felt really good to register and buy my books. I think I'm really going to enjoy this....and the Pysch classes will no doubt come in handy at "the hall." LOL.

  it is interesting to note that clive thomas (canadian branch office) spoke during his part in such a way as to betray the fact that he was personally aware that what he was saying was false.. it's one thing when a local onion gets exuberant about parroting the gb's nonsense.

  it's quite another when a bloodsucker like clive comes from the branch and does a "bait 'n switch" the way he did.

And guess what, when I mentioned that I was going to go to college, I was asked why I would want to do that? Didn't you hear at the convention just HOW CLOSE the end was? At this point I wanted to tell this idiot that I heard the same thing 30 years ago, and that I was not going to piss off the next 30 years the same way...but I just said, "oh well, I don't go to many meetings or go out in service anymore, so I have a lot of spare time on my hands." LOL!!! BTW, I'm getting my degree in Administration Of Justice. (Law) Who knows, maybe I'll get to give this butt-head a ticket one day. At the very least I'll have an education that I should have gotten years ago.

  BTW, I don't know about the rest of you, but even IF, (and thats a HUGE IF) these guys are right, I would rather die than spend eternity with these communist-like morons. As my nephew put it, "the after life is a crap shoot, I intend to live THIS life the way I see fit, and not as others tell me I should live it." I could not agree more.

  Those Elders that got caught viewing porn should have been using a product that a JW must have invented.....CCleaner. I use it everyday. And not to cover up porn trails....I would never do that. ;)

  I'm one of those living a double life, as I feel I have no choice. But I do it really good (Years of practice will do that.) I don't go to the book study or Thursday night brainwashing sessions anymore though. But at the Sunday meeting, and conventions, I wonder just how long I can go on without sneezing and screaming BullShit. And I know it is just a matter of time before someone sees me rolling my eyes. This thread reminds me of one of my favorites Heinlein quotes where he talks about "for the first time in my life I was reading things not approved by the prophets censors, and the impact on my mind was devastating." If you want to know what I REALLY think of JW's, go watch my Monk-Mail. LOL.

  Holy Geezas, if it wasn't for my few "wordly" friends and my private retreats to the mountains (where I can read my forbiden books and smoke a cigar) I would go positively "ape." As it is having to live around a bunch of braindead automotons is driving me nuts. (Actually thats not quite true...an automoton is a "self-operating machine." We all know the GB is pushing the buttons.)
