Disaster Preparedness Announcement

tonight would have been my long meeting but i didn't attend.

however, my wife attended and she just came back and told me about an announcement they made in the form of a "letter to all congregations..." aparently they (wts) want everyone to be prepared for disasters and measures will be taken to make sure congregations and their members are prepared.

each member will provide their number, cell numbers, and numbers of close relatives.

My Father In Law just brought this up today. My response? ..."Hey, I guess you can't make fun of my lifestyle anymore." (A line from Tremmors.) His response was "well, we are doing it for the right reasons." ??? BTW, he said that the warning to buy supplies came from Jehovah, by the way of his servant. (Yeah, their not inspired right?)

Well at least my wife did not feel the need to run down to the local K-Mart and buy anything. She knows that I have been collecting "Beans Bullets and Band-Aids" for more than 10 years.

could someone please explain to me how an organization can be "spirit directed" but at the same time not be inspired?

sounds rather orwellian to me..

I just had a talk with my wife about this. She of course said that "spirit directed" was not the same as "inspired." I told her that words do actually have meaning and that if she looked up "inspired" she would find that it meant "spirit directed." Her response? - "I don't want to talk about this!" Yup, she's a good little JW all right.

A Hampshire police spokesman insisted there had been a complaint.

So there has been a complaint. So What! I would love to have a cop try to tell me to take a sign like that down. Show me the court order, and yes it would come down. - And probably make national news at the same time. (Just like this did.)

The hell they are! An American is someone from the continents of North or South America, and/or a citizen of the United States of America. It's quite possible to embody "the human spirit of freedom" without being associated in any with America - or wanting to be. Likewise, it's possible to be an American and have no idea of the concept of individual freedom. The USA may have been founded on those ideals but that was a long time ago.

I have to wonder how many people from South America call themselves Americans? Do you think they say I'm from America, or South America?

my daughter leaves for the ARMY thursday

i have four sons and my youngest is a daughter.. she leaves for the army on thursday.

i am in a state of panic and emotion to try to convince her to not go.. i just heard on tv that becuase of the rising violence in bahgdad, bush is sending more troops to iraq.

the developments in isreal and lebanon only seem to be escalating.......the un asking britian and us for help but because of prior commitments......(iraq) are unable.

what if the watchtower announced that they are not god's sole channel of spiritual truth?

along with this admission, would come an apology for all of the misleading and damaging predictions and past teachings.

what if they also dumped the disfellowshipping arrangement, as currently practiced, and allowed for respectful disagreement and disent, on issues such as blood transfusions and military service?

I doubt it. The reason would be I have seen more love in other places. Hell, I think I'd go Mormon if I went anywhere. - And the weird thing is I don't really think they have the "truth" either. Now go figure on that!
