by frankiespeakin in.
i am very curious about the progress we xjw's are making on the internet in exposing the wt in other languages,,i know the french, german, english, and spanish, are well represented on the net,, but what about russian, polish, greek and all the others.
if you have any info on this please share i'm sure all xjws would be happy to know more about this on a world wide scale.. i just have a feeling that this expose is building up momentum, and that the wt is in it's last days which should cause the gb considerable stress.

My next question, I think there was a comment in the Watchtower after 1975 criticizing anyone who sold their home thinking the end was coming in 1975. Does anyone know where it is?
Yes, there was an article in 1976 or 1977 WT, criticizing those, who sold property...

Jehovah's Witnesses facing problems with building religious centre in Slovenia Ljubljana, 3 June: Following the controversy surrounding the mosque construction in Ljubljana, another religious community is facing problems in building their centre, as the residents of a village north of Ljubljana have been protesting fervently against the Jehovah's Witnesses having their centre there.
The villagers of Duplica pri Kamniku took to the street earlier this week to prevent the launch of construction works, claiming that the centre will deprive them of parking space. The police was called to intervene on Monday [31 May] evening, with one resident taken to hospital after a brush with the police.
The residents also filed a petition with the Kamnik local court to suspend the construction, however the court dismissed it as ungrounded. The residents are meanwhile still awaiting a response to their complaint sent to the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning.
A dispute over the construction of the centre has been going on for some time. While the Jehovah community has all the necessary papers for the construction of an educational centre, they still need to get the go-ahead on religious activities.
As Marko Sustersic of the Jehovah's Witnesses told the daily Dnevnik, they are the victims of the dispute: when purchasing the premises, they were promised that they would be able to conduct their activities in peace.

This is a big story currently in Slovenia, with JW's all over the media...They are trying to build a new branch office with 50 residential rooms for bethel workers. This new object will cost about 2 millions of euros, which is a lot for just under 2000 JW's in our country. They have chosen a very strange location for this object, in the centre of residential area, with school and kindergarden nearby.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES BAN IN MOSCOW UPDATE
by izobcenec inat the time of writing, there is no news on any appeal against the ban recently imposed on jehovah's witnesses religious activities in moscow.
however, this perhaps gives us an opportunity to review the facts and to get a few points straight.
most people seem to have very similar views on this religious group and the principal concerns appear to be over the blood transfusions and the methods in which jehovah's witnesses promote their faith.

At the time of writing, there is no news on any appeal against the ban recently imposed on Jehovah's Witnesses religious activities in Moscow.
However, this perhaps gives us an opportunity to review the facts and to get a few points straight. Most people seem to have very similar views on this religious group and the principal concerns appear to be over the blood transfusions and the methods in which Jehovah's Witnesses promote their faith.
Although we follow no religion ourselves, we have taken a closer look at this group and its faith. Initially, we too had doubts about many of their "rules" and this was based on a lack of understanding and knowledge. However, in the last few weeks we have gathered a lot more information and see things in a different light (so to speak).
The one thing we have discovered is that Jehovah's Witnesses follow a very good set of moralistic rules. Some may be open to debate and it's very likely that some of their followers may not adhere to them totally, but this is true of every religion on the planet.
Let's take a look a look at some of the areas that are important to them: They believe that a husband and wife should be properly married in the eyes of the law. A husband should never hit his wife or mistreat her in any way. A father should work hard to care for his family. He must provide food, clothing, and housing for his wife and children. A wife is expected to care for her family lovingly. Parents should never discipline their children in a harsh or cruel way. Marriage mates must be faithful to each other. Adultery is a sin against God and against one's mate. They do not listen to or tell dirty jokes or unclean stories. They are against Sex before marriage, adultery, bestiality, incest. Every form of gambling is tainted by greed. So Christians do not take part in any kind of gambling, such as lotteries, horse racing, and bingo. It is wrong to take revenge or to return evil for the bad things that others might do. It is not wrong to drink a little wine, beer, or other alcoholic beverage, but heavy drinking and drunkenness are wrong. It is wrong to mistreat animals or to kill them just for sport or pleasure. Smoking and taking drugs are not permitted. In each congregation, there are elders, or overseers. They do not dress differently from others. Neither are they paid for their work.
This does not sound like a group who "Incite religious discord...break up families....endanger life" in fact, if you were to take the religion from their rules, you would have a set of morals that many should consider following! Unfortunately, a body affiliated to the Russian Orthodox Church seem to have a different opinion and seem determined to keep the ban in place.
In March we saw headlines like "Church hails Jehovahs Witness ban" and comments such as "We think that the Jehovah's Witnesses doctrine and the organisation's activities provide a legal reason for banning it," Moscow Patriarchate spokesman Mikhail Dudko was quoted as saying.
Perhaps the area we most admire about their religion is the fact that their elders do not get paid for leading a congregation. How many other religions can you find that do not give their Church "workers" a salary? Does the Russian Orthodox Church pay their leaders? Obviously Jehovah's Witnesses need to raise money to cover expenses like any other religion, but this is done by way of donations. We believe it is wrong for someone to get paid for preaching, if they truly believe in their faith they should be prepared to do it for love and for free (as the Bible states, this information was given to them for free!).
It is a little sad that another religion can be so vindictive of another, something the Russian Orthodox Church have indicated that Jehovah's Witnesses are guilty of. It is also of some concern that very few (if any) other religious groups have shown any support against this ban and are either afraid of speaking out or secretly support Moscow's decision. Maybe Moscow should take a closer look at some of the other religions that operate in the City, as these clearly do not practice what they preach (love thy neighbour!).
Yes, the situation regarding blood transfusions is a difficult area, but as we have already reported, not all blood saves lives (some blood can be contaminated). This is an area of their belief that we must try and understand, but then you have religions where the eating of pork is forbidden. What if someone from that religion was faced with the decision of either eating that meat or starving to death, what would they do?
Clearly, there is a lot of misunderstanding about Jehovah's Witnesses and a certain amount of prejudice. Our advice would be to study the facts for yourself and not belive everything you hear from others. We hope the authorities in Moscow will take this advice and rethink the ban.

Moscow court rules against freedom of worship;
Ban of Jehovah's Witnesses in city to be decided on appealMOSCOW?Judge Vera K. Dubinskaya of the Golovinsky Intermunicipal District Court of the Northern Administrative Circuit of the city of Moscow ruled today to liquidate the Moscow Community of Jehovah's Witnesses and to impose a ban on their activity. The Moscow Community of Jehovah's Witnesses is appealing the ruling, which means that the judge's decision has not entered into legal force. The Moscow City (Appeals) Court will consider the appeal in the coming months. As a result, the current legal status of the Moscow Community of Jehovah's Witnesses remains unaltered despite today's decision.
"As in the first trial which we won, this case did not involve any specific facts or alleged incidents of wrongdoing, but dealt exclusively with whether the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses are legitimate," stated defense counsel Artur Leontyev. "This question has already been decided numerous times by the European Court, which ruled that it is not within a State's prerogative to examine the legitimacy of religious beliefs, much less pass sentence on them. It is clear that this decision cannot stand on appeal and will only serve to accelerate the review of our application filed with the European Court of Human Rights." This application before the European Court of Human Rights concerns the legal recognition of the Moscow Community of Jehovah's Witnesses and its religious activity. In June 2003, acting on this application, the European Court submitted questions to the Russian government regarding its treatment of Jehovah's Witnesses in Moscow.
Today's ruling was issued as a result of a civil complaint filed with the court on April 20, 1998 by the Prosecutor of the Northern Administrative Circuit of the City of Moscow. On February 23, 2001, the complaint was dismissed by Judge Yelena I. Prokhorycheva of the same court as having "no basis whatsoever." On appeal, the Moscow City Court ordered the current retrial, which began in October 30, 2001. The present Court then ordered a comprehensive expert study of literature published by Jehovah's Witnesses. Contrary to the claims of the prosecutor in the official complaint, the three experts found that the literature of Jehovah's Witnesses encourages members to "preserve the family and the marriage arrangement" and contains "no information urging members to actions aimed at refusal to fulfill the broad spectrum of civic responsibilities." They also found the claim that the literature of Jehovah's Witnesses incites to religious hatred to be "unsupported."
Jehovah's Witnesses are an internationally recognized Christian religion. There are over six and a half million worldwide, with more than 133,000 in Russia. They are officially recognized in more than 150 countries, including all those of Europe. The European Court of Human Rights has repeatedly declared Jehovah's Witnesses to be a "known religion."
