Luke 23:43 - And Jesus said to him, "Positively I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise."
NWT places comma here , giving a totally different meaning to the verse.
Now the average JW uses this to back their doctrine and it seems in itself virtually impossible to reason with them on it.
I never really considered this point as a JW, the punctuation used in this verse was used by Jesus on many occasions 76 times in the NT, heres the big hitter to ask your visiting JW or family member. Why is the comma placed there in this verse but in every other instance where Jesus says this phrase the comma comes after the first instance of the word you.
As i read on another site , to render the verse like this is the same as saying "let me tell you the truth, today is was etc etc" we wouldnt say "Let me tell you the truth today, i was etc etc" its pointless and pretty much senseless.

Hi I.wonder,
Firstly welcome i dont think ive spoken to you before, maybe you should try to gently ask a few questions whilst studying "the truth" with your husband, especially if the chance arises to look at the history of the society. I DO sympathize with your situation, i was virtually always shunned for get this "reading too much".
God bless you and yours

Concerning the failed prophecies, not long before i left i tested the honesty of a few elders.Whilst out on field service i asked them about 1975 and the end ( these were older men - been in the truth for over 40 years ) they both said it had never happened "no such announcements were made anywhere" one truthful elder however told me he had actually heard it said from the platform.
incredible how they can ruin yourlife and keep on lying to keep you in ruination.

This is the way i found being a JW to be in a simplified fashion
Get taught evil doctrine,
accept it because you keep reading their tracts/books,
learn never to question it as the FDS are always correct
start attending between three and five meetings a week
be forced out on ministry if you want to be baptized
become accepted ( except you can never be as good as those "born into the truth",
get baptized,
be even more accepted because your baptized ( but still have no true friends )
lose your social life
become depressed
be told you need to do more on the ministry thats why your depressed
do more on the ministry
become more depressed ( except now you dont even have time to see the doctor )
plod along unhappy and feeling worthless because your pleasing God.
in some cases become suicidal ,commit suicide and then none of your so called brothers and sisters attend your funeral and God rejects you so all of the above was in vain.
Some however,
start to read the bible and realize that if Jesus yoke is light and unburdensome then surely living on prozac just isnt right.
Look deeper into the errors in JW doctrine
Go and tell the elders what you think about their lies
DA OR BECOME DF'D
go home celebrate your birthday the same year ( without feeling guilty )
have more knowledge about how a cult can control your mind
actually have time to read the bible
hang around in places like this
find time to question witnesses and cult who come to your door
attend apostafests
Serve God through Faith accepting his Grace, not believing the works ( placing tracts / magazines ) you do will save you.
oh yeah , and finally go buy a decent bible translation, one that A satanist didnt translate.
Die Happy >:)

A most notable bible verse
by Ade inecc 12:12 "and further, from these, my son, be warned; the making of many books hath no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
in this verse there is a fluent sweetness to the eyes of the ones seeking gods love and a sharp bite to those who lose love and become a mere student of words offering up argumentations of men from their doctrines.
it has exceptional applicability in numerous situations, possibly even to people who keep trying to offer you extra biblical literature.

I see,
therefore we must conclude that in this matter we wouldnt come to an agreement, as i feel either a writing is inspired or is not.And any such letter/tract i read that is contrary to the document of God ( as i see it to be ) is a worthless persuasion of Satan. Hence i read very little or accept very little other than the bible.I am thus skeptical of all religion and its writings. For i believe we worship in faith and Love .
God bless you and yours

If God had provided the bible we wouldn't be arguing over it nor wondering which parts are genuine and not fiction.
I believe the bible to be a great effort of man and a condescension of God. When a man has the spirit of God he has no need of a bible (remember the gift of the spirit was given to a christian population that was so illiterate that the letters and tracts that were eventually made into the bible could only be understood when read out aloud.) If we deify the book we splinter into factions.
i cant understand the reasoning here my friend - no offense intended, if a man has the spirit of God, and writes a part of the bible or any religious writings, then God has led his spirit to write it, therefore either the bible is written of people with Godly spirit or not, this is contrary to your post.
Respectfully
