this is the entire letter written to me by my sister:.
"do not continue sending emails to me or attempt to contact me or my family.".
It's probably the hardest thing i've ever done, but when I got a letter like that from my family I just respected their religious (cultish) beliefs and moved on.
That's been about 5 years now, and I plan on calling them soon to see if they've changed their minds (kind of like JW's do at a "do-not-call" home).
It's hard to do, kind of like emotional suicide.....but it's the right thing to do.

I agree with Golf. Plus, the religion was chosen for me at birth, then I chose not to be a part of it. If my family and former friends don't want to have anything to do with me, well, that's their loss! Gymbob
i've often thought that the closing prayer at jw conventions is a study in psychology in and of itself.. consider the typical scenario.

About a week ago, my wife (who has never been a dub) asked me what JW prayers are like. After I give her a rough idea, I then tell her that it would be different if it was a closing prayer at the assembly or convention.
A few days later my son who is no longer a witness but was raised as one comes over, and I tell him about the prayer story with my wife standing there (minus the comment about assemblies and conventions), and he says to my wife, "Oh, but it would be really different if it was a prayer at the assembly!" I have a ex-jw friend (35+ years) who lives in Valencia, we golf together and he keeps me balanced.

The elders were going to DF me for just trying to walk away on these same grounds, so I basically just said "you can't fire me....I QUIT!" Then I DA'd myself.

as a young dub in the 80's me along with many of my friends got married, either in our teens or early 20's.. in my area, if you were over 25 and not married, it was percieved that something was wrong with you or you were probably engaging in sex with a "worldly" person.. by why did so many of us feel the need to get married so young?.
i believe it was because of one of three reasons.. 1. you wanted to get out of your parets home.. 2. you had already gone "too far" with you girlfriend or boyfriend.. 3. you were just an average normal teenager and you knew this was the only way you could legally have sex.. .
was this true in your area?.
Because my wife has everything I could ever imagine....
1) Big knockers.
2) A job.
