i have been inactive from jws since 2003. i don't post here very much -- do more reading than posting.

but i just had to tell y'all that i got a one-page tract this evening which is an invitation to attend the deliverance at hand convention.. yes...the end is coming pretty soon because never before in jw history has an invitation or tract been distributed to a city not designated a convention city.. the end is also coming pretty soon because i was told at the convention there will be a lot of talks about noah and what he faced.. in addition, the end is very near because later on this year there will be several announcements coming from the society.

Really? Maybe they want to announce that the fidele and discreet slave will consist of other sheep completely in near future.

Or they will announce that Brooklyn will be sold and shut down (new appartements will be built there).

Or will they actually announce that 2034 will come Armageddon? 120 years after 1914? Like Noah had to preach 120 years?

They make preparations for an unbelievable announcement for sure.

What "Discipline" Did You Recieve While A Witness?

were you "disciplined" by the elders (or jehovah god) for anything while in the "truth"??

Me and my friends were counseled back in 1981, when I was 16 years old. Some of us young people (aged 16-20 years) made a trip to France with tents. We had a good time traveling Paris and the Atlantic Coast of France. We did not forget to study the watchtower on our journey. In La Rochelle we dressed in long skirts (girls) and ties (boys) and sat down on the camping place and held our watchtower-study. We were brainwashed as it had to be.

But when we came back home, the elders addressed each of us to tell us that we should not do this again. How easily could we have fallen into the trap of immoral conduct. Far away from home in a mixed group of boys and girls.

As far as I remember this journey, nothing ever happened. It was sooo boring with these theocratic-minded almost-ministerial-servants.

Dutch Society did announcement about DC at last meeting

the dutch branch of the society, has send a letter to all congregations in the netherlands about the dc this summer.

they stated that the series of dc in 2006 has end in a loss of 75.000 euro.

Big video screens in the DC?

I am puzzled. Are there also such screens in the US?

This year I will attend the DC on Sunday (23rd July) accompanied by friends from the ex-jw-forum and I hope the German DC will also have big video screen.

But in what other countries do they also use these screens? I am curious.

Why do the majority of "newbies" disappear ???

i have noticed that, in general, there is a "core" of regular posters on jwd that have been members for several years.. however, it seems the vast majority of "newbies" disappear after a couple posts, days or perhaps a week.

how many "welcome" or "introduction" .

threads have we had here where the new member disappears within a day or so, never to post again?

I have not been posting a lot yet and I presume I will not post that much in future. In my case it is just because I have difficulties in expressing myself in English. I like reading your comments even though often i do not understand all and everything, esp. when you use slang or how do you say? words that are not in my dictionary. You know?

I am regularly posting in the German equivalent of this forum. It is infolink-net.de; There I am going now to have about 500 postings.

Now I want to tell why I am also here: I am always surprised that you ex JW in USA and around the world have exactly the same experiences and feelings like we in Germany. The JW-Organization is really the same on the whole world. They are doing the same stupid things everywhere. And I like to read postings about what happened in the Brooklyn Headquarters. Sure, we have Selters but we in Germany always think of Brooklyn as it where something special (the faithfuldiscreetslave ist only there). So I like the scandals and uncoverings which you can tell of.

In the German forum often the newbies tell us, that they like to read our postings. But for some reason or other they are not involved in writing.

When I was still in the cong (in the 90s) I heared that the chinese government has implemented christian religion into the school schedule. And for this education they use the book "My book with bible stories" (the yellow one, I do not know the english title).

Some weeks ago our chinese interpreter, a girl of about 23 years, was visiting our company and my parents (dubs) told her about Jehovah and Jehovah's Witnesses. She knew the name of God is Jehovah because she had learned it from this very book. I emphasize, she is NOT studying with JW, but she has used this book in school.

Can anyone confirm, that the WTS has furnished China with this book?

As far as I know Chinese people have a conviction even though most of them are raised as communists. Their belief is that you should not reject any God that might be there. I mean, if they come into contact with a new religion (for example JW oder other) they are friendly against this 'new' God because they want to show respect for this God.

But this attitude is shown everytime they get to know a new religion. So they are willing to hear the 'good news', but they are not willing to become Jehovah's Witnesses.

This is, at least, what I have learned from Chinese people themselves. For some time I had contact to the chinese group in Munich (Germany) and moreover I know chinese people from my work.
