  Devils Advocate-A Question for X-JW's

  ok, i am going to play devils advocate and ask the question: are the jw's correct about anything?

  surely there has to be something that is commonly agreed upon to be correct.

  i am not talking about what current jw's say, i am not talking about simple things like: read the bible, or be a witness.

  i was talking to one of my brother-in-laws about his time in bethel.

  he put in about 5 years.. anyway, i mentioned the post about lyman calling the new black brother "nigger", and he also said that it did not surprise him.. but what i found even funnier was the experience he had with dan.

  dan sydlik had been staying at the bossert hotel while his apartment was getting renovated.

  i just read the story about the family in oregon, gone forever, because of the pressure of shunning.. in my opinion, shunning is the big story about jehovah's witnesses.

  WOULD YOU LIKE TO EXPLAIN HOW THE SUNIING IS GOING TO HELP RAPE AND MOLESTATION SURVIVORS 'TURN AROUND IN THEIR SINFUL COURSE?

  Df'ing will help to maintain the congergation clean in this respect.
  As you know those that are df'd are unrepentant. However rape
  and molestation go beyond human behavior. It is, I dare to say, unnatural. Would you rather we not expel these ones from the congergation? Does Jehovah forgive a repentant heart?

  You are correct. And that is why Jehovahs Witnesses teach that
  you must first love Jehovah, than you will not want to sin. The
  idea of refraining from sin in fear of punishment does not work.
  That is why the teaching of Hell does not stop sin. In fact
  as a former Jehovahs Witness, (I am assuming you were), you have
  knowledge of our beliefs regarding serving Jehovah. We serve
  him first out of love. Not fear. If fear were our primary motive
  it would be selfish. Are you saying Jehovah never uses discipline?

  MATURE and LOVING human beings desist from 'sinning' when it causes harm to other human beings, not *because they get disciplined*.

  actually this in incorrect, for example take the
  example of many who have been df'd and reinstated for fornication.

  Would they have stopped had they not been disciplined?

  allow me to explain. mav is parroting because he is still under the mindset that jehovahs witnesses are the only true religion..

  I would think that Mav again has looked in the Bible to
  see if their is only one true relgion. And yes you are correct
  in stating that someone else from another faith can show you
  other viewpoints from the Bible. But if you believe Mav is
  parrtoing anything it would be more accuarate in stating that
  Mav is parroting the Bible. Again the idea of a "mindset" is very
  deceptive. Are Christians not taught that redemption is only
  found through the blood of Christ? Is this a Christian mindset?
