Questions From Readers - April 15, 2015 Watchtower
by sd-7 innow, i'm not a prophet, but i would consider this article to be a uh, spirit-directed excerpt from what could happen--but we are not saying.
questions from readers.
is it necessary to offer thanks in prayer before eating snacks?.

Which sex is most faithfull?
by highdose inout of the brothers and sisters, which sex is most likely to leave the jw's?
does anyone have any theorys?.

Given the shortage of Capable Brothers TM they keep complaining about, I would wager that men are more likely to ditch the Borg. In fact, that is the answer. Even the Borg admitted so in the '50's!

I rather suspect that many who are young and enthusiastically active JW's today
by gubberningbody inare in some sort of denial.
it's like they imagine that perhaps if they try hard enough it will be the truth, instead of a lie wrapped in some shiny wrapping.
why else would some be so incredibly afraid of so-called "apostates"?.

I will add at least one more thing: I did go through the "why is Da Troof not working for me?" in De Nile phase, but this was when little doubts started to creep in right after graduation. The majority of my motivation, however, was based upon the essential "behavior and reward" dynamic.
Edit: "I know understand how much I looked up to him, without considering it" should be "I now understand how much I looked up to him, without considering it."

Here's my take on this, because finally this is something I can identify with:
The ones who are really putting their nose to the grindstone, climbing ranks and so forth, are the ones who have been looking for validation in their lives. Why is it that the weirdos put in the most hours, the career pioneers? Well, they just can't mesh with anything else. I know that growing up, I wanted to feel normal more than anything. I always had a little edge thanks to being smarter than the average kid. And nothing alienates you faster than being smarter than other kids and rubbing it in their faces, or merely their knowing that you're smarter than them. So whenever I could identify with the cool kids, being close to popular, it felt good. I felt validation instead of alienation.
What's the bottom line with my experience? These really good dub kids have no validation from the average, popular dub kids who are in it for more obligatory reasons. They are massively sheltered. This sort of group dynamic drives the "good Witness kids vs. borderline Witness kids" drama themes for a damn good reason: it is very real. I wanted validation from the cool dub kids, in addition to the cool school kids. I never really got it from those dub kids. I recently found out that no one took me into the inner circle of friendship because they all wanted to "protect" me. They figured my rank-climbing and brown nosing meant that I couldn't take their personal drama and secrets. I'd failed to get in good with them in a lasting way. I'm not upset about that, at least not anymore. But I'd failed to truly connect with them, so I sucked up to the local elders.
So when the local elders consistently reward the kids who put in the extra effort, who don't get in trouble, etc., it really does make a lasting, deep impression. I had a charismatic Bethel-trained PO who molded me into a potential elder/Bethelite/pioneer to look out for me. I know understand how much I looked up to him, without considering it. It also helped that my father never came close to the Mike Brady-like "let me guide you through life, son" type of father. I needed a father figure who was worthy of emulation, and my dad never felt good enough about himself to take up that role. So this PO filled the vacuum nicely.
So I disagree with the hypothesis that the ones working hard are trying to overcome denial. Never forget that people could really be working hard because they feel good about what they do. The mouse gets his piece of cheese, the whale gets his fish, and so the performance continues. I'm very lucky that I stopped getting my little slice of cheese and broke out of the maze.

what did you do after leaving or separating from JW's in regards to religion?
by kriptonian7 ini have been struggling to find my place.
i still consider my self christian...but the more i have been learning about my old faith, its been making me feel like i need to find something else that makes sense to me.. i know im not aethiest.
i have always felt that there was a higher power out there.. agnostic?

I think the safest thing to do now for me is to not jump into another religion. I like returning to essentially how I felt as a little kid--I never felt the concept of god, and never understood it on an emotional level. It was easy to go along because as long as you knew how to follow the rules, you were ok. Real emotional spirituality never came close to the hall. What I do feels good, so I'll run with that.

The WT society and Jehovah's Witnesses basically try to change the real definitions of words to accomodate their false predictions. And why do they do this ? Because they want to control their followers. Even by deception. They don't care if they lie or not- they just want control. Peace out, Mr. Flipper
Well said, Mr. Flipper. As I've stated before on this board, I'm really curious to see if this speculation becomes printed, and if so, how in the world they spin it to make sense. I know it won't matter to the average dub; they're too confused by all the changes to understand any of them. At least, that's the feeling I got from the young people. Whenever I'd explain my viewpoints on things, I'd always get, "Wait, that's what we believe now?" because they weren't prepped on the NuLight TM .

Can we belive any of the WTBS's numbers?
by highdose ini think it has been well established on this board that alot of dubs fake their ministry time, probably their magazine placement and return visit count too.. i know of loads who would claim a bible study even if they just had a work college who they somtimes mentioned the bible to in passing.. we have seen a constant flow of newbies on here, coming to the realistation that its false and wanting to leave.
the wtbs its self admits that loads are dissfellowshipped every year.. so when you look at the figures put out by the wtbs are any of them real?
based in reality?

SirNose586
No, they don't make up the numbers. Why do apostates always have to convince themselves the Society makes all their numbers up?
I think a distinction needs to be made from making up numbers out of whole cloth, and allegations of improper counting. Also, there just doesn't seem to be "feel" of true growth to back up the numbers. It's not easy to see what's going on without a birds' eye view of the real numbers, which none of us have. It also raises suspicions to know that they no longer can print the monthly numbers publically, as if to say, "We don't feel you need to know what's going on." So all these things invite due skepticism.
I certainly don't feel that the Society isn't above creative counting methods; they admitted that the standards were lowered in regards to time counting, publisher status, etc.
So perhaps the real problem is that even if they've counted the people properly, it just doesn't feel right because the growth can't be readily observed, and that despite the time and effort put into the work, the Law of Diminishing Returns is schooling the hell out of the Borg.

SirNose586
Yeah, reading that letter makes me glad that I never followed through on the PO's plans for me to work on cars at Bethel (or more likely, scrub toilets for Bethel). It would've made me in too much debt to the org, and therefore vulnerable like this poor chap.

I did not think this sort of thing possible, but I'm glad to be proven wrong. I'm very happy for the two of you, who now are on the same page, and out of the madness. Congratulations and well done, sir!

What do you think will happen to cause an exodus or at least push JWs into further obscurity?
by the_dude_abides ini believe someday it will be as obscure and strange as say the russelites.
the meetings will only be attended by ppl over sixty or so and it will hardly be considered anywhere near as significant a religion as it is today.
i wonder what will begin this process.

SirNose586
A harder thing to predict, much less control, would be world security. JWs thrive on oppressive governments and a general sense of paranoia. When things are much more calm, how is fear going to sell? Without any "persecution" of the work, why should anyone care?
