  edgard metelus, a jehovah's witness, took part in a prayer service in petionville with some 200 faithful, most of whom managed somehow to find presentable sunday clothes amid the chaos.

  "we continue to pray for haiti and to thank the heavens, because without prayer there would have been even more victims," he said, as the group raised its voice in praise to god.. "even more victims without prayer"?????

  That doesn't make God look very competent, or very fair. Why save some and spare others? Why couldn't all be saved?

  Could it just be that this is the work of plate tectonics on an island next to a fault line, and due to the buildings on the island, some would perish in the quake? Hmm, I guess not, that kind of answer doesn't explain anything.

  For those who didn't know, Larry Graham is one of Jehovah's Witnesses (and I haven't heard anything to the contrary, so I'm going to assume it's still the case). He was part of Graham Central Station and later had a solo career. GCS's 1976 album Mirror is unabashed JW doctrine set to funky hooks, which made it tough for me to listen to because I love Larry Graham's work, but the lyrics of most of the songs made me cringe.

  Googling the lyrics to Larry's conversion song, "Save Me," yields nothing on the first page, so I've got them all for you right here. I've enclosed question marks around the only unclear parts.

  what is up with current jws?

  do i suddenly have a leprosy that i didn't catch in the mirror this morning?.

  my mom had surgery recently and once again all care taking duties have fallen into my lap.

  My guess is it's a combination of natural lack of social skills combined with increased hatred for ex-members which drives the increased incidents of rude behavior. As long as we don't tolerate it, I think that sends a strong message.

  i get a 403 message for the watchtower comments web site... the youtube channel hasnt been visited by v in 8 months and it was april when v was here last?.

  i received this crap from my jw mom today.

  i hope it doesn't "encourage" you to go back .

  you see, when i left, i immediately felt the relief of not being burned all the time by all of the gossip that occurs within the congregations, circuits, etc.

  a few months ago there was a thread about a couple of elders at the mill hill bethel being disfellowshipped because they disagreed with some wt doctrine (i can't recall exactly what it was) and that several other betheliteswere under 'investigation'.

  i haven't heard anything since, does anyone know anything more about this?.
