Got my copies of August and September Awakes today! Funny and sad story.
by hubert ini was in my truck in town and talking with my sis-in-law whom i met on a side street, and while we were discussing something, she noticed a group of 4 people, 2 women, and two girls, walking up and down the other side of the street, then they got in their car, and stayed there.
so, when she left, i pulled right up next to them, and asked them if they happened to be j.w.'s?
the driver gave me a huge smile, and said, "yes, we are!

Ah yes, nothing rouses a dub more than an interested person dropping right into their lap, eh?
On a side note, I especially wanted the August Issue, because I heard it had an article in it about blood, and that the w.t. was starting to quote doctors saying that blood is an "organ". Well, we all know where this is going, don't we? So, I open the August issue, and on page 3, they mention blood being an organ 4 times, in one small paragraph ! I guess they want to make sure that the j.w.'s see it, so that when they change their policy (again) and say j.w.'s can have organ transplants, oh, which by the way includes "blood", the j.w.'s will already have this in the back of their (empty heads) minds.
This might be an escape plan of theirs. But I doubt they'd reverse the blood ban. It would raise WAY to many flags in a dub's head.
I also feel bad for those kids. Nothing was better than a "Staff Development Day" on a Friday or Monday and just chilling out all day long.

Sting Rays Being Slaughtered and Mutilated in Irwin backlash
by Crumpet inhttp://uk.news.yahoo.com/12092006/140/irwin-backlash-stingrays-slaughtered.html.
at least 10 stingrays have been found dead and mutilated on australia's eastern coast since crocodile hunter steve irwin was killed by one of the animals last week.
the killings have prompted fears of "revenge attacks" against the normally docile fish.

In the US, there were instances of Arabic persons and anyone looking remotely Mid-Eastern being assaulted after 9-11. It's truly sad that cruel persons repeated this disgusting behavior on the innocent animal kingdom.

In respect to headcovering, can you get away with a sheet of toilet paper??
by Gill inwhose idea was it anywhere and is there any mention of it in any awake or bodgetower?.
the idea, that women when taking the lead in anyway or praying should have something on their head as a sign of respect suddenly struck me as a sign of total disrespect!.
i understand a woman may put anything on her head as a sign of respect to her superior male colleagues, including a used kleenex....i've seen it so don't doubt it!!.

My mom used a napkin one. Although it was clean, I don't think it was of the sanitary variety.
The reason is "because of the angels". Apparently, the angels get pissed off if a woman prays without having something, anything, on her head.
What a silly requirement. One time I went on a BS with an older pioneer sister. She was concerned about having a head covering. I didn't really know the rule, or care, at the time. Just to be on the safe side, she asked the householders if they had any hats or scarves. They didn't have anything. All she did was ask me to pray, and she conducted the whole thing, head uncovered. Believe it or not, she was not struck dead!! The angels were sleeping, I guess.

Society goes nuts--yet another "special" campaign for September!
by sir82 inin an earlier post here http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/114651/1.ashx i noted the society's "special campaign" for september, an "awake" magazine dedicated to the topic of evolution vs. creation.
there is a "special campaign" to highlight that magazine all month.. got a call from our po last night.
there is going to be yet another "special campaign" in september -- a new "kingdom news" tract.

Listen inthetruth, if you're gonna be an apologist, you need to take some cues from Thirdwitness. He doesn't embarass himself in topics he doesn't need to (only the more hot-button issues), and he's better at stretching the truth than you are.
Making false claims that are EASILY debunked is not the sign of an experienced apologist. You gotta make it easy for yourself, man! I mean right now, I can get the pdf of the new tract campaign, which really does say "False Religion's End Is Near." In fact, everyone and their momma on here has that pdf too. I can even take a picture of the KM if you want. Out and out lying isn't the best strategy for you.
Secondly, I can also direct you to a sound file of Fred Franz talking about all the things that needed to happen before "September 5, 1975" and the wealth of publications that pointed to that year as the likely start of the millenium. Secondly, claiming that it was only a few misguided JWs that thought 1975 was going to be the start of the millenium ignores a huge fact: all beliefs and doctrines come from the top down (not the ground up as you claim), and even if a group started this theory, the Watchtower did nothing to stop it. But that's not an issue, because you know that all beliefs come from the top down, and the Society is responsible for every doctrine.
You need some practice before you take your game to the court. You're looking kinda lightweight to me right now.

Heavy metal and hip hop (rap) and rock get their own category in the WT index......
I feel bad for hip hop. Because of the garbage ganster rap out there, plus all the mainstream crap that I won't touch with a 10-foot pole, good lyricists and the fundamental elements of hip hop get a bum rap too. I'm talking about turntablism, tagging, and rhyming (breaking doesn't draw much ire, but I doubt the average dub would take part in it). I appreciate good muralists like Daim (one of his pieces is my desktop) and good turntablists like DJ Q-Bert and the X-Ecutioners. I can't talk about it with other dubs, though. Real, talented players in the underground and out of the mainstream automatically equal Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent in the average dub's mind. I really can't stand it. They're mentally incapable of figuring out that there's stupid hip hop, and there's stuff worth paying for. They don't get it and they never will, no matter how harmless the content is.

The JW female
by fullofdoubtnow inas a follow - up to dansk's thread on the jw male, i was looking at a bit of info in quotes, and found this bit of crapola from the august 22nd 1967 awake, which gives "reasons" why the man should be the head of the woman:.
however, the facts show that the headship of a man is both somatically and psychologically sound and in the best interests of all concerned, even as we shall see.
thus a leading authority on the human body (soma), gray's anatomy (1966 edition), tells the interesting fact that as regards the human skull there is no difference between the male and the female until the time of puberty; but then as adulthood is reached the difference becomes more and more apparent.

Yes, this enlightening and scientifically airtight message has been brought to you by the same folks who gave you such hits as: "[Aluminum cooking utensils are] a curse to humanity and their manufacture and use should be forbidden by law" and "It has never been proven that a single disease is due to germs."

Try this fullofdoubtnow-- I saw some JW sisters I knew working a block on a Saturday morning about a year after I left the Borg. I went around the corner and parked my car. I had a leaf rake in the car and proceeded to start raking the leaves in a strangers front yard-it was late autumn- with my back to the street. When the two sisters arrived and greeted me I turned around and gave them a big hello. The older sister let out a big gasp when she saw "Numero uno local apostate" and ran back to her car leaving sister newby standing there by herself wondering what had just happened. I heard later that the sisters were always watching out for me, lest the phantom apostate surprise them out in service.
That's hilarious, Moshe! What a shock for those poor dubs!
Johnny Cip, you're gonna have to tell me about your exploits.
