I did, because my friends didn't. My hours weren't stellar but they were good enough. When they wanted to make me an MS, I hemmed and hawed during the discussion but they still gave me the job. Of course when I stopped toeing the company line, they summarily dismissed me.

Not married yet, but I was a good little boy for the Borg. I really didn't cheat. Every other JW ex-friend of mine cheated, though.
So now it's weird to be 24 and behind the curve when it comes to that. I'm working on fixing the monumental dry streak, though.

i encountered some private conversations among witnesses about the subject and it's ugly.
yes, there is suffering as many of these victims try to live on charity and can't find jobs in the worst economy since the depression.. some of their private observations include shock that you need a college degree for nearly any job and that the watchtower society couldn't have picked a worse time to do this to them .. all the while these complaints are discussed, i try not to show that i am astounded by their bizarre "logic".

Thanks for providing updates on these laid off people. I do feel bad for them; I don't like hearing news of anyone cut off and left to drift, even if they did choose to give the best years of their lives to the Borg. This could have been me. I realize now that I was being groomed by the P.O. to learn how to work on cars and take that skill to Bethel (of course, who knows if I would have even gotten past toilet scrubbing?). That could have been me giving the best years of my life to the Borg.
But in the end, it's still a choice that they made and they'll have to deal with it as best as they can. I hope they can realize that they've been hosed by Mother.

bethel friend calls me the other night...

he and i first met back around 1986-7 at pioneer school in his hometown.
we were both young ms's with dreams of bethel.

Well written, KW13...only I'd say, I'm not going back inside that hall. It feels too good to be out of there. The last few months of meetings felt like being in a vise. Heck, the night that's now open is like my new Friday night with all the cool stuff that goes on.

The Early Fade Sheparding Calls.....
by lepermessiah ini went through some earlier topics, but wanted a little more input.. i wanted to get some ideas on how some of you handled the sheparding visit requests as you faded.. we had one about a month ago, and fortunately the elders did most of the talking.
everytime i was about to comment on something, the other one would chime in so i didnt have to go off on any tangents.
i was told last night by my wife that they would like to come by again.

I wonder how my fade is going to go. I think I've got a slight advantage in that around the time I stopped attending meetings, my folks went to a different hall and my sister started going to another hall as well.
Not one phone call from elders or friends--just one from my grandparents--and I haven't been to a meeting since mid August.

Documentary About The Flood and Noah's Ark
by Blue Grass inabout a week or two ago i watched a documentary about the flood in noah's day entitled "in search of noah's ark".
two things i found very interesting in this program is a theory that one person had about how they believed the flood was caused due to a meteor hitting the ocean creating a tsunami that flooded the entire earth.
scientist were unanimous in their view that this is a very plausible scenario and that there is no way to rule this possibility out.

I saw a more plausible documentary. It said that the Black Sea was a shallow lake, until a land barrier that kept the Med at bay collapsed, causing a huge flood. Cant remember the exact figures, but the Black Sea is about 600 feet deeper now. There is evidence of streams flowing in and ploughs abandoned in the fields. In Turkey they still make what is known as "Noahs Pudding." HB
The event you're referring to is the cataclysm at Lake Euxine (aka the Black Sea). It happened around 5600 BCE and triggered one of the largest mass movements in human history into Europe. I think it would be really fascinating if stories of this event passed through the generations and eventually became the basis for more well known deluge stories, like the one in the Epic of Gilgamesh.

Burning literature (pics) and police called on Snakes :P

i had gotten rid of two bookcases worth via a thread or two here, mailing it to various jwders for (hopefully) nefarious purposes.
i was down to one last 32 gallon rubbermaid container.

What was even more depressing for me was the interviews added as a bonus to the DVD. There was an opera singer who gave up her career to peddle literature for a living. There may have been an instrumentalist interviewed as well; I don't remember. But it really distressed me to see this because it reminded me of my performing arts upbringing and how I subtly deep-sixed it all to follow the P.O's recommended path.
