Shunning is a form of neutrality
Shunning for any other reasonbesides those explicitly mentioned in the bible is not a neutral act; it is an act of loyalty to the WTBTS and done so out of fear.
.
does wt demand an act of wickedness to prove loyalty to the institution?.
is shunning a wicked act of revenge?.

I would think that it would behoove any/all JW Apologists here to provide a proper response to Mary's post. Not snipets of disagreement or snide/non-arguments; but a well put together essay addressing all the points made by Mary and why they think they are not true or do not apply. Barring any kind of such a response, how can any JW apologist response be taken seriously?
keep it secret has been wts child abuse policy for years.
he said the policy that jehovah's witnesses have on how to handle cases of child abuse is without equal in the religious community.
why keep these forms secret?.
I found Reniaa's asking of the question curious. Reniaa - Isn't waiting for and wanting other/false religions "destroyed for their past sins and mistakes" exactly part of the modus operandi for Jehovah's Witnesses? (From all the literature and talks I have heard, it seems to me that it certainly is.) If you have any problems with the FACTS presented, why wont you adress them directly rather than wondering about Barbara's motive? The plain truth is that there is and have been problems with this organization and they have failed to step up to the plate, acknowledge and apologize for their errors, and then fix them. It seems the organization has the same problems as addicts do; they are addicted to their own methods of operation (secrecy, non-disclosure and cover up). And as is common knowledge, an addict can not be helped until the addiction is acknowledged and active measures to remove the addiction are taken.
i read these threads and there are a few that bend over backwards to say why wts is correct on this issue or that issue.. they act like typical jw's that refuse to acknowledge points that may show that wts is not following the scriptures or that wts goes beyond the scriptures in a way that is not supported by others.. the point could be the blood issue or shunning or whether 1799 or 1914 was the start (or finish?
) of the last days or whether there is a faithful and discreet slave class or not.
i don't want to harp on each point.
I'm not interested in disowning the truth or believing information provided by apostates.
Spike - but what about information that is truth that just happens to come from those called 'apostates'? Certainly you aren't suggesting that the mere label of 'apostate' means that they can't possibly have truthful information? Doesn't truth stand on its' own regardless of its' source? And shouldn't every posited piece of information offered as 'truth' be investigated by everyone to determine its' truthfulness? And once the truthfullness has been determined, isn't it proper to acknowldge such truth, no matter where it came from?

......God's disaproval
Can someone please explain to me when Jevovah has ever disapproved of telling the truth, revealing the truth?
I tend to be especially fond of this: Luke 9:49 and Mat 16:12. Now Jesus was Jewish, not a Jehovah's Witness (i.e member of the Organization calling themselves "Jehovah's Witness" which takes it's guidance from the Watchtower and Bible Tract Society). Was Jesus ever rebuked for revealing the wrong actions/beliefs of the Sadduceess and Pharisees? Certainly if Jesus was not rebuked for revealing/showing the truth, and a Chirstian should aspire to act as Jesus has, then certainly no one can be condemned a non-Christian for revealing truths and wrong actions/beliefs?
For all the claims to being imperfect, why cant JWs simply say "We have been wrong about ...." (fill in the blank).
While good/noble motives may be preferable when revealing truth, the truth is the truth regardless of where it comes from (again see Luke 9:49).
former elder, and assembly overseer roberto from france will be joining barbara and joe anderson on tonight's conference call, july 18,2009. roberto was disfellowshipped in june 2009 and after many faithful years of service is now joining thousands of others who are speaking out against the evils of the watchtower organization.
our call tonight will be focused on how the country of france, as well as other european countries are investigating jehovah's witnesses.
the watchtower organization is experiencing difficulties in these countries for the inhumane treatment and exerting too much control over people's lives.
WE ARE IMPERFECT!
This has no bearing on the matter. I stand behind my original comment
The "imperfect men" defense does not stand, and no one should ever be made to believe that they need to "wait on Jehovah" to fix the organizational practices; nor should family be turned against family for directly questioning and opposing the leadership of the WTBTS on this matter. Those exposing this are not villans with axes to grind; declaring them as such (either directly or indirectly) should be considered a form of defamation of character. There is a problem, it needs fixing. I find it beyond imagination that Jehovah would require anyone to sit idle while children suffer. One other thing, everyone knows pedophilia is a societal problem and not just a JW problem; the way JW's have dealt with it IS a JW problem that deserves to be known by the public with its' leadership held accountable (just as how the Catholic Church dealt with it was a Catholic problem and it's leadership needs to be held accountable.)

Reniaa - I am just curious to know if you have read through the legal documentation that has been provided at http://www.watchtowerdocuments.com keeping in mind that these are legal documents from the courts of law; so none of it is anti-Jw driven or anti-jw propoganda. If you feel that Barbara has an axe to grind, never mind her commentary if you wish, but read through all of the testimony and look at the evidence. The "publicly" declared child abuse policy of the WTBTS may sound nice, but what matters is what actually happens in practice; from the top, down. i know, i know, more michael jackson news.
this for some reason has got me ticked off.
if you go to the tmz website you will see a photo of paris and her brother holding the "sing praises to jehovah" songbook.
Whats it take to get something posted in their comments section? I've tried about 4 times and my comments are not showing up. Nothing offensive; just a 'do the homework' comment.
ok, so i'm technically challenged and i don't use the i-phone, but my 19 year old son does and he just showed me this application for jw's and keeping track of their field service!
it shows maps, keeps track of time, addresses , even how to e-mail time to three different addresses!...............here's the thing: how many jw's would know about this if we have always been encouraged to not get to involved in technology.
they would dog technology but i'll bet they will use this on an assembly someday to show how jehovah has blessed them and look at the new tool he has given them and aren't we special.
I'm still looking for a copy of the most current wt library for the iPhone/IPod Touch (isilo format). Any ideas?
rev jackson said regarding the private mj funeral and the jackson family that they are "devoutly religious...jehovah's witnesses, led by katherine jackson," and the private funeral will be held "under the discipline of their religious order...".
the private service may be held this evening.. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/31758315#31758315.
JJ's comments about JW's may be just enough for a large number of people to hit Google and find out about JW's. ONe has to wonder if the WTBTS will enjoy the focus they may be about to get.
