Your going to the meetings whether you like it or not!
by Atlantis inyour going to the meetings whether you like it or not!
thousands of jehovah's witness children have heard those threatening words backed-up with spankings, whippings, or even severe beatings.
but what if they are too small to understand?

Two funny (pathetic) stories:
1- When I was around 3yrs old. we meet in an old rented building that had bats. Once during a meeting, a bat landed on my arm and I screamed. My dad, left the platform, picked me up, took me outside and spanked me.
2- When my son was little he was very fidgety at the meetings. I would take him outside and talk to him or let him run around so he would calm down. Once, when I came back inside a young black brother approched me in the KH lobby and said: "What that boy needs is a black whoopin' "!

It happend 37 years ago when I was 10 years old.
First of all, my dedication was made while jumping up and down on my parents bed while watchig Neil Armstrong land on the moon (July 20, 1969). I had just turned 10 and was in every sense of the word a "child".
I answered the questions from the "Lamp" book correctly as I was a precocious little girl and had been inmerssed in WT life since birth. My parents did not have a family study with me but I had been on many Bible studies with my mom.
I don't remember a thing said in the baptism talk, though I do remember the song. It was the one about "Jehovah Our Rock". This was in the old song book.
We did not have our own baptism pools back then, so the baptism took place at the home of some witness who had a pool. I wore a pink, one piece swimsuit with a daisy applique on the front.
My dad was to busy with elder, assembly duties to come view the baptism. I was just doing what was expected of me so it was no big deal to my parents.
For dinner we went to Walgreens (they used to have a restaurant). I had a t-bone steak, french fries and a salad with french dressing.
This may sound silly and made up but I assure you that every single word is true.

Rutherford's 1913 Convetnion Speech - A Coverup?
by VM44 inin the january 1, 1914 watchtower this letter from rutherford was published.
in the letter he essentially denies the written record of the discourse he gave at the 1913 springfield convention.
notice how rutherford tries to discredit the written record of his talk.

I read that link about Woodworth. His experience could be explained by schitzophrenia or a severe manic episode suffered by some with bipolar disorder. One thing is true, whether he was demonized or mentally ill or both, anything he wrote in an altered state can not be from a divine source.

Say You're a Bethelite & Monitoring JWD - How Would You Feel About THESE??
by Seeker4 ini'm talking about the new posters, like kitten whiskers, who started posting today (hope this works: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/120817/1.ashx).
and it seems like we're getting a few like this nearly every day.
people who were raised jws, really worry that they are doing the right thing in leaving, yet who have been made to feel not good enough by the wts, who felt they never measured up, who struggled with it, but came to realize that what they'd been brought up to believe was just not the truth.. the same stories are told over and over again, and they come from sincere, good people - not whiny, fault-finding apostates like the rest of us riffraff around here!

zarco: if you are still reading this, don't leave. I am still "in" and could be df'd for posting here as well. But, where else can I go ? To whom can I vent my frustration? And if I don't let of some steam here, how long can I stay in and not make a mistake? Your posting here helps you and the rest of us. Consider it a tool to help you hang in there. Your insights are helping us, please don't leave.

What if we are really alone in the universe?
by zagor inhow would that make you feel if we were the only pleasant accident in inhospitable universe, if such 'miracle' newer happened elsewhere in our universe?
if there are no other alien civilizations that could rescue us or ?show us the way?
as some popular writers like to think.

jaguarbass: I'm sorry you're numb. However, I really don't think that happens to everyone no matter how old. I for one am 47 and intend to live each day as a new adventure of sorts for as long as I may live. I can't help growing older but I don'e have to grow "old".

Dear jwfreak: Please hang in there, many of us feel just as you. My husband and I are constantly talking about how to manage this situation. I am not naturally a patient person so this is really testing me. Let us know how things go so we can all learn together.

jwfacts: thanks for that interesting study. I think maybe the "society" would view that study as proof of "putting on the new personality". Of course I agree with the scriptures that one should follow Christ's example and also to develope the fruits of the spirit, but I don't think it means to change the core personality. Doing so is against nature and can only lead to frustration and maybe even a breakdown.
I have always tested enfj and I've taken many different tests over the years.
Why do you guys think there are so many "n's" in here? We are a small minority yet here we are all lumped together? When my daughter took this test in school she was the only "n" in a class of 30. That's usually how it goes. Do you think maybe our intutive side causes us to question the "establishment" more than more concrete thinkers? Do you think we are more sensitive to suble changes and shifts and so our antenas poke up sooner than others? Is that why we've ended up in this boat, going against the flow?
