So ashamed this morning........
by Frannie Banannie ini was at the grocery store, wheeling a cart about 1/4 full.
the desire to have some cigarettes was so overwhelming that i avoided my family members with me at the store, grabbed two packs of my favorite brand of cigarettes and hid them under the growing pile of items in my cart.. it was about that time that i woke up.
and very briefly, until i came to my senses, i felt that it was no use to even try if i was going to be so weak as to sabotage my own efforts to be strong..

How old did you expect to be when the New System would come?
by JH ini became a jw at age 28 and no way did i expect to ever get older than 40 years old in this system.. maybe at the extreme, i could have imagined being 45 years old, not more..

I am 47 now. I was told I would not make it to kindergarden, then high school. My mom always told me I was fortunate because I wouold not grow old in this system. Today, I am about to become a grandomther and my mom is 83. You do the math...

Culinary Fads
by Stephanus inremember back in the 80s when olive oil was all the rage?
you had to cook or douse everything with it.
then the tv chefs started to notice its shortcomings - that extra virgin wasn't very good for frying (but great for dressings) or for use in mayonnaise.. remember when you could only cook with polyunsaturated or monounsaturated oils, otherwise you'd drop dead?

The Lesson of Martin Luther...
by Confucious inhey guys.... just felt like posting tonight.. comment or don't comment... but there was a good thought that came to mind tonight for me.. martin luther.... no... not martin luther king, jr.. the martin luther.. and forgive me please if my historical facts aren't 100 percent.. but martin luther went against the catholic church.. he posted the 95 rig-a-ma-role on the church doors.
basically condeming the sale of indulgence from pope leo.. anyway... martin luther went against the so called "norm" of the day.. but one of the things that i learned from him was his famous quote.... "here i stand.
god help me.".

I love the idea. Here's #1
The blood issue. It's either an issue or not. All this nit picky, take this bit but not that bit is riduculous. You can't be a little bit pregnant and if taking blood is wrong any little bit of it you take is a violation of the command.

Where I stand...
by Justice-One ini guess its good that i now know where i stand with at least one of my disfellowshiped sons.
) i told him (in a joking tone just to feel him out) today that i really would like to know the names of the brothers on the committee that df'ed him.
he asked why, and i told him that i thought they might like a gift subscription to playgirl.

Maybe that's not the right tactic to use with this particular son. Think about what makes him tick, who he really is before you say anything. He may find Playboy objectionable for reasons that have nothing to do with the WT His response may have nothing to do with defending the Society.Or maybe he just thinks it's yucky to talk about Playboy with Dad..

Book study funnies - blood
by Zico inthe book study tonight was all about abstaining from blood.
the usual nonsense which we've all heard before, but i thought i'd share some amusing comments from the completely misinformed and delusional brothers and sisters there tonight.
i wish jwfacts, td or any of the other board blood experts could have been there tonight to hear this, now that would have made a good study!

Disfellowshipping
by vanillamocha ini was recently in court for the domestic violence charges against my former (and still in excellent standing) spouse.
he is using all jws to say how he is such a wonderful person, etc - all total and complete lies as some of them are actual eyewitnesses to my abuse.
in his sworn statement, he says that jws do not disfellowship, do not shun, and that i am not disfellowshipped, but that all my "friends" won't talk to me because it is their choice.

Dear Vanillamocha: I am so sorry for your situation. Unfortunately I've seen it before (not the details, but the situation). For some reason witnesses can not wrap their heads around abuse occuring within witness homes, and they fight the very thought of it tooth and nail. I had a good friend in your situation and it boils my blood to this day.
I wish you the best.
