Getting Old, Didn't think it would happen to me.
by Undecided inuntill the last year i stayed 50 years old.
now it has finally hit me, i'm getting old.
i never felt my age and could do about any thing without pain or feeling like my body couldn't take it.

I got the 'prodigal son' treatment from my parents last night
by mavie inyep, i opened a letter and received a highlighted 5 page print out from the watchtower library cd.
i find it somewhat insulting they think i'm lost and wasting my life.
i'm curious to see how others have responded to this kind of treatment..

Or you could ask if they would meet you half way on their driveway and then call all their friends to celebrate!!!

Ran into a JW and DFed, DAed, or faded?
by pierogi inokay, i'm interested in experiences where you are dfed, daed or faded and you ran into a jw somewhere.
if you are dfed or daed, most likely they'd just ignore you.
this is unless you ran into them at work (like a restaurant, bank, grocery store) where it is there job to talk to you.

Independent thinking
by under_believer inthose of us who are still attending meetings for one reason or another often hear the phrase "independent thinking" bandied about, from the platform, from the society's literature, and from comments from other witnesses.
independent thinking, we're told, is a snare.
it's dangerous.

So true. Whenever they start knocking independent thinking I feel so angry. How does anyone dare to tell others not to think on their own!!!?? And how do over 6 million people go along whith that?

On a (minor) downer
by Fe2O3Girl inand it is all vicarious, but boo hoo.. i had a phone call first thing this morning from a good friend i used to work with, to tell me that one of our old colleagues had collapsed and died at work yesterday.
it wasn't someone i was close to, he was a quiet bloke, but nice, with a great dry humour.
and he was only in his forties.. so i ring another lady we used to work with to let her know the sad news, and she tells me her husband has pancreatic cancer and secondary liver cancer.

by Undecided inmy brother was in a meerting with the elders and one of them asked this sister if she knew what fornication was.
she said having sex with someone you don't love.
one of the elders laughed and said if that was true several of us would be commiting fornication.. ken p..

It's no secret that many JW marriges are loveless. They stay for fear of DFing.

Told wife that I don't like going to the meeting
by XBEHERE infinally said it out loud even though my actions have been showing it for quite some time.
a fight ensued and now she isn't talking to me.
the wierd thing is when i just didnt go she didn't say much (she hasn't been for over 2 mos for a medical reason) but god forbid i should actually vocalize that i don't want to go... i didn't want to give her any fuel to call me an apostate so i just blamed discouragement and my dislike of the elders which she already knows.

willyloman and onthewayout gave some good advice, you should listen to them.
