See Awakes critical view of doctorine change in OTHER faiths! HYPOCRITES!!!
by Lady Liberty inrecently shadow posted this on another topic, however it is so good i felt it deserved it's own thread.
remember when you are reading this that the watchtower wants all of us to ignore our questions regarding change within the organization.
calling it new light.

I made my wife think....
by roflcopter inshe recently went on a rant about how i need to go to meetings and that she knows the wts is not perfect but its the closest thing.
she kept trying to gode me into spilling everything... i simply put it to her in an illustration and it made her really think.... in response to her telling me that its the closest thing to the truth i told her my feelings: "if i was eating a peice of delicious chocolate... and then the baker told me she picked up dog poop with her bare hands and didnt wash them before she made them... would you still eat it?
sure it still may taste good, but would continue to eat it?".

Do JWs qualify as Christ disciples based on John 13:34, 35?
by Sola Scriptura inim a long time lurker first time poster.
i am an open minded jw who believes in freeness of speech.
i love my faith and my worldwide brother and sisterhood (even though i see much room for improvement in how things are run).. i thought i would stir things up a bit with the following question:.

Suppose you're a JW and you want your children to stay in...
by stapler99 inwhat would the best strategy be?
i ask this because thinking about my upbringing, i don't believe what the watchtower seems to suggest, that the more spiritual you are, the more bible study you do, the more field service you do, the completer your meeting attendence is, the less worldly association your children have, etc., then the more likely it will be that they will "stay loyal to jehovah" !hurls!
i don't have that many cases to consider, but i have seen youngsters getting baptized whose famailies don't seem to do that much field ministry and miss a lot of meetings.

Do what we've done. Ever since we've been fading our grown kids are stronger in the "truth" then than they ever were. It's like teenaged rebelion, do anything that your parents don't do. Go figure.

Did the Societys Literature Ever Make You Question or Doubt It?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .style2 { font-size: 18px; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; color: #005959; } .style3 { font-size: 16px; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; color: #005959; } --> did the societys literature ever make you question or doubt it?think back to when you thought like a jehovahs witness.
do you ever recall when a magazine, book, pamphlet or tract made you start to question .
or doubt the written material?

Yep, the trumpet blasts being convention resolutions always seemed weird to me even as a young girl.

I saw the show and saw the similarities as well. I felt they dealt with the issue in a very sensitive way.

Are all those "minor prophet" books relevant today?
by becca1 inaccording to the wt, just about everything in the hebrew scrips.
has a "type" and an "architype".
it all applies somehow to the "last days".

"Minor" refers to the lenghth of the book, not it's importance.

Do you know this feeling?
by DeusMauzzim indo you know the feeling of looking out of the window at the sky, thinking 'there will be no armageddon, everything is well, i followed my conscience...' ?.
do you know the feeling of just going for a walk, all alone.. and realizing that you are alive and out of it, that there is no god counting your hours and meetings?
that is was all just a bad dream, that you are free now to follow your own moral compass.. it makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time.... do you sometimes look at the faces of total strangers in the streets or on the train, wondering how you could have ever thought that most of them could be murdered any moment by some 'loving' god?

According to the WT, just about everything in the Hebrew Scrips. has a "type" and an "architype". It all applies somehow to the "last days". Do you think this is so, or were they just talking about the issue, kingdom, person at hand? I always found the books and WT studies that dealt with these (ex. Amos, Micah, Habakuk...) tiresome, and the explanations farfetched. The same goes for the book of Isaiah (I had to struggle to stay awake when we studied it in the BS).
So, are they relevant today?
