We had the marriage one at our wedding, wonder what they use now they've got rid of it? See they got rid of two of the ones i liked about youths and children too. Admit i used to like 225 and that's gone. At least they got shot of some of the more painful ones to sing lol, wonder how bad the replacement ones are! Used to dread the songs, was constantly in giggles at the dreadful singing lol. (wow i must be getting cured of them at last, i can speak about something to do with the jws and not get het up anymore yay!)

When you were a JW....

if so, what did you think of that person at the time?.

good for you lavendar, as soon as i mention the shunning by them just for leaving because you don't want to be one anymore, that's usually enough to put people off, they can't believe it!

I was about 19 when i started studying and my family were against it. My dad ignored me for ages and threatened to throw me out but that was cos he was embarrassed at having a religious fanatic in the family!
My 'best friend' who studied with me (was allowed to hang out with me as i was such a good girl lo tho not a jw), prepared me well tho and told me that my family would be against it and this would prove its the truth and i must carry on, and showed me scriptures that seemed to back it up, such as one where it says father would turn against son (or something like that) and that u have to pick up ur torture stake and follow Jesus etc. Can't quite remember them but there were definite scriptures that , when they started speaking against it all made it look like the jws were right and then i was more determined to become one. V clever and manipulative, as soon as you start to study they can get you hooked! That's why i try and educate people before that, so that they won't even want to listen to them.

What Cong you from???

me, i'm from hayes cong london and golden ash northants... spent time in others too but mostly those... oh, also a short spat in kempston cong bedford... all in england... :).

I was only ever in one congregation and that was one too many, in the south west. Big yearly convention was at Plymouth stadium.

What happened to your marriage after you stopped believing?
by JerkhovahsWitless ini know some posters here went through or are going through some painful things right now because of no longer believing when they have a husband / wife that still does.
others were able to free the minds of their spouse.
i'm assuming the latter is a lot more rare.. anyone that wishes to share their story, please do.. i'm looking to pass the info on to someone who doesn't totally believe, but may marry a jw.

Mine was only in it because he was brought up in it and was scared of his family. Afters years of fading i was ready to split up if it came to it as i was getting constantly nauseous over leaving the religion and was going to leave it even if he wanted to split up as a result. Fortunately as his family got quite nasty with me and he saw our former friends shunning me and i have this everyday still, i am surrounded by jws lol, it gave him such a disgust that altho he hasn't left officially he has nthing to do with it or them. We are a much happier couple for being out together.

I especially love seeing the witnits walking up our neighbours path on a sunday to meet there for field service, whilst i'm still in my jimjams cooking the boys pancakes instead of dragging them out in all weathers to be bored stiff!
