Lovebombing =Pats on the back for me going back to Meetings...I want to punch someone!!!!

after being away for 3 years i have agreed to attend some meetings with my wife who is suffering depression.

she has no friends except witnesses.

every meeting i get pats.......pats on the back during the damn meeting, elders and servants patting me on the back, mouthing "hello" giving me the thumbs up.....the last elder who did it, i almost stood up and punched him....i invented love bombing and they dare use it on me...me!

Oh God... this love-bombing thing is making me nuts... I never heard the term before joining this forum. I have been such an unsuspecting victim of this "tactic." Don't JWs see through their own guise? Don't they see that this behavior is an abomination to true Christianity... Do you think Jesus would have met the Samaratin woman at the well and then after they talked he walked away and pretended it never happened...

I can't see how they can delude themselves into thinking that this behavior toward others is rooted in love and compassion -- the things they always talk about... I could absolutely kill the guy who drew me into this -- making me think we were such buddies, such good friends... he would send me text messages at work every day before and after management meetings... they would say... "Thinking of you big guy..." "You can do it bug guy..." "I have faith in you, big fella..." "I care about you, man..." and on and on and on... How could I not feel good...

Now, it's been over 5 weeks and have not heard or seen anything of him....

Damn... I could kill him...

Now... How do I stop thinking about this...

ok... this is marketman (a.k.a ptucker) and you have all been very helpful in your previous postings.

now, maybe someone can give me some advice on how to stop thinking about jw doctrines, jehovah, and everything else associated with this situation.. i wake up thinking about it... i go to sleep thinking about it... i thought this was it... i thought this was the spiritual direction i needed even though i am questioning every aspect of it now.

yesterday i went to a bible service at another church and i enjoyed it a lot but i kept thinking "what if this is wrong... what if jehovah is the answer..." i need to stop thinking about it... can anyone provide insight on how some of you mustered through.

Friends, Study Partners, and then GONE...

about a year and 12 ago, after much conversation with a jw co-worker, we began a formal study.

we studied religiously (no pun intended) almost every week unless i was on business travel or there was a sickness or other item that precluded us from getting together.. .

during that process, we became very strong, close friends... at least that is what i thought was happening.

First off, there's something screwy with my log in -- marketman or ptucker -- I'm the same person that started this thread earlier... not sure what the screw up is...

Regardless, let me answer a couple things... I'm not a woman... I'm a guy, happily married, 2 kids, pretty normal for the most part... Cradle Catholic that met this guy at work... we became friends and were friends for about 6 months before we started talking about religion... but we talked about just about everything else... I don't think it was superficial which is why the whole thing pisses me off...

We talked about me and my family, him and his family... we gave each other advice. We ran road races, we went hiking, we worked out at the gym, we talked about baseball, hockey, video games, and a bunch of other crap... it wasn't just about religion... that's why it's so freaky to all of a sudden get a "don't have time for you" message...

Makes no sense, unless, as many of the posters have said... the JW conditioning in him won out...

i've been struggling for quite some time now about continuing my exploration of the jehovah witness faith.

i am a "cradle" catholic and have been very involved with the church.

i started to become disillusioned several months back with all of the tradition, habits, and teachings of the church--which i began to seriously doubt.

OMG... I never expected to get responses such as these! I am very unsettled after reading all these postings. It's been about three months since I began this journey. I've been to one Sunday Meeting and two Theocratic Ministry classes. And, I started and then stopped a personal study with my friend. The folks I met at the KH were so friendly and helpful. My "good friend" who has been helping me along the way is a great guy. He never pushed anything on me. Rather, he only answers when I ask. In some cases, he never brings up things at all. I can't imagine that he is not my friend and would drop me like a hot potato should I decide to never resume a study. Could people really be that blatant? Am I just some easily swayed person simply looking to fill a "void" to make me whole? Now, I am more confused than ever.

Isn't there some truth to what JWs state? For example, JWs state that there is only one true God and there is one he sent forth. If Jesus were God incarnate, then how is he also someone who was sent forth by God? It doesn't make a lot of sense does it?

Understanding Jehovah and of Jesus seemed to be pretty satisfying to me. When I was studying, it made you feel happy to be digging into God's word and learning about it. Why did I feel that way if all of this is so wrong?

I've been struggling for quite some time now about continuing my exploration of the Jehovah Witness Faith. I am a "cradle" catholic and have been very involved with the Church. I started to become disillusioned several months back with all of the tradition, habits, and teachings of the Church--which I began to seriously doubt. At that time, I met a guy whose become a good friend. He's a witness and he introduced me to the faith which I knew of but knew very little about. I started a study but then stopped because my spouse is so against it. I've tried to not think about it, but I do, everyday. I honestly believe some of the basic doctrine. I have always dooubted the trinity and believed that there was only one true God. But, there are still several things I am unsure of ... blood transfusions, celebratory days, is or is not Christ God incarnate... I am so confused, and with a very strongly doubting spouse, I am not sure where to go from here... Has anyone been in this situation? If so, your guidance would be greatly appreciated...
