  A question for the English

  i have no intentions of starting a flame.

  but, i have a few questions.. i was reading this thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=24652&site=3&page=1 and it occured to me that americans and brits have a lot not in common.

  i will admit i am not very educated when it comes to england.

  ex-jw's are a bunch of $&^%& style posters, all seam to have one thing in common.. they never stick around for a proper debate.. just fire away some accusations, and leave.. gets on my nerves.. why wont witnesses stay and make their point against reasoned arguments?.

  Actually sleepy wasn’t describing a style of poster, he was pretending to ‘be’ a style of poster – you know the sort: an irate JW who stumbles across this board, mouths off at us all and then disappears without a trace, not wanting to get involved in a serious discussion.

  I agree that sleepy’s communication skills leave a lot to be desired but hey, as an ExJw he probably never got the chance to get a decent education.

  Now what I want to know is how you knew I had bad teeth?

  sleepy was 28 yesturday.. 28 on the 28th march.. that will only happen once.. but doesn't time fly only a couple of years ago i was single , living at home, fully involved with the truth.. today things are totally different.. i wonder were the next few years will go?

  Well actually Shimmer I have got bad teeth...

  And it's well known over here (UK) that Americans 'tend' not to 'get' ironic humour, I've heard it from many many people who have visited your wonderful country, and wonderful people. And I have also experienced it myself many times. I'm NOT saying that all Americans are like that, but enough are for the rest of us to notice a pattern.

  Can't you read the suprise in sleepy's replies? He didn't mean what you think he said.

  Don't forget sleepy, Americans tend to have no sense of irony, that's why your attempt at humour backfired.

  Or perhaps should I say they think slightly differently than we Brit's, so we need to take care so we don't inadvertently upset someone, like I've probably upset bitter mango for lumping a Canadian in with the 'mericans.

  Memorial attendance down?

  last night 3 congregations met at the assembly hall for the memorial.

  there were just a little over 800 there which really surprised me.

  in past years every congregation around here usually had at least 300 in attendance.

  The Society have had a big push this year to get as many inactive ones at the memorial as they can. Obviously the figure is going to be used as propaganda to pacify an increasingly awakening rank and file. They are coming out of their trance because the old 'drugs' of fear and guilt are losing their effect and many are realising that the big 'A' isn't coming to save their sorry asses.

  At my congregation there are about 100 pubs and they had an attendance of 150 last night.

  well, for the first time in 30 years i didn't go to the memorial.. it's actually a given me a great sense of relief!.

  i hope that this is beginning of a long and happy relationship with god!

  up until this past year i wasn't even sure if he existed.
