how about all abuse victims get together and sue the wt for a billion dollars of reparation (in this country certainly a reasonable amount!

...similar to how lungcancer patients sued the tabacco industry.

that should put the wt out of buisness!!!

I was shocked to read in another thread that the cases we have been hearing about on Dateline are the ONLY ones ever to be tried in court against the WBTS.

Considering the amount of mis-handled abuse cases that are coming to light I wonder why there has not been more.

Hopefully the dateline program and the courage of those who came forward will act as a catalyst for others.

But I doubt it, I think the things that have happened to some people while in the JW religion are just too awful and embarrassing for the victims to share with the public, and there are many legal issues that might prevent them coming forward after a certain period of time.

Good idea in theory though.

been inactive for about a year now, have quite a lot of anger that needs attention!

wondering if it would be a good idea to write down my grievances and put in a letter of disassociation, or simply fade and deal with my anger another way?

Boy, that anger eh!? I remember it well, when you first realise how much they've screwed with your life and mind.

Personally I have never seen the need for DA'ing myself, I feel that it gives the JWs a (too) convenient pigeonhole to put me in. Others find it gives them a sense of closure though.

I agree with Path, take your time, talk to folks, and make an informed decision when you're ready.

Amazing Survived Major Heart Attack

i just spoke on the phone to amazing (jim whitney) who is in intensive care in a chicago hospital.

on monday he had a major heart attack, had a stint put in an artery to unblock things and may have bypass surgery.

he's comfortable enough right now, but of course will have to make some big lifestyle changes.

do you remember those little demonstrations that are given at assemblies?

did they give the characters in the demo names to match their character at yours?

for example brother lee love, brother stressed, sister mature, sister nervous, brother joyful and my all time favourite sister new-in-the-truth!.

How we poor saps used to laugh at these feeble jokes. Hell, it was the only thing that lightened up a dull day.

They don’t do it so much at our assemblies anymore. I remember once a brother was introduced onto the stage – Brother Hassle; which was greeted with much merriment, only for us to be informed that it was his real name!

It certainly threw him off his stride to be laughed onto the platform!
Oh, such fond memories! [:D)

What does the average Witness know?

i have to wonder what the average witness today knows?

i guess they are under orders not to talk to anyone that might actually be able to inform them of any facts that are negative or unflattering to the society, but what have they found out anyway, through whatever means, even the publications?.

1. do they know that russell got a lot of dates from the measurements of pyramids, including 1914?

I think they 'know' a lot of this stuff but filter it out, or just don't make the connections.

My JW wife went to the States in the 1970s and visited Russel's grave site. She took this photo and neither of us thought the pyramid shape of his tomb was anything strange! We just thought it was for aesthetic purposes!!!!!!!
