have any of you ever been called a dangerous apostate?
i have, and so has trev.
my friend marion just called me, and her sister angela, who is a nominal jw, and attends occasional meetings, went last sunday because her friends' son was giving the public talk.

okay, well my mother called this evening and was all emotional about her one day assembly.
i was shocked she brought it up, as we just do not mention the religion anymore, but lately little things keep getting said at her conventions and assemblies that seem to be making this line something she wants to cross more these days.
what she brought up, was something i had not heard mentioned on here and i wanted some insight from people who actually heard it or knew more about it.
A cousin of mine told me her parents are completely fired up and her 72 year old mom will be pioneering in October. Her mom said they are expecting major persecution after the tract is out and this will finally be it.
Hmmm, I can see that's what they might expect because they actually believe people are interested in what they have to say.
On the other hand, the tract might upset militant Muslims because they are included in the 'False Religion' bracket - that might cause a few local problems. It's possible JWs will try to deliberately provoke a reaction that instigates 'persecution' which further reinforces the complex.
As for it being the end of the preaching work - No Chance! I believe your mother totally misinterpreted something.
"visitors from outer space reveal themselves, and make contact".
now, i realize this is something seen on those supermarket tabloids all the times.
what i am saying, is what if it was true and the networks had it on, cnn, foxnews, msnbc, etc.
Yes, I would be frightened, because I don't think the human race as a whole is ready for it. If it happened, once the die-hard sceptics were convinced it was actually happening, I believe there would be mass hysteria and riots. Led mainly by the un-intelligent and the fanatically religious. Earth would quickly descend into chaos and the aliens would, rightly, exterminate us as a threat.
But the other alternative - that we are alone in the universe, is just as frightening. Just imagine the vast emptiness out there and we are the ONLY intelligent beings in the universe!
And we could blow it and the universe would again be completely empty of rational thought.
Now that's a scary thought.
i thought it was time i posted here, having been lurking for over 4 years (on and off).
well my wife is now out.
we never really discussed the issues i had with the troof, although she of course new what some of them were.
4 years!!!! That's gotta be a record!
where are you in flordia?.
are you boarding up.
or are you packing up?
Message from a friend in Fort Lauderdale, about an hour ago:
<<I think the storm should be upon us by late tonight/early morning. Mainly rain.>>
She doesn't sound too worried!
But I think the main part is gonna hit much further south than Ft Lauderdale.
well folks, read it and weep.
they've made it tough for you and me, they really have.
"my very elegant mother just sat upon nine...." nine what, you jerkpiece astronomers??
I learned it by this saying at school:
My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Naming Planets.
I think astronomers will get pissed off after a few years trying to explain to the Great Unwashed what happened to Pluto and wish they'd never bothered.
I also heard that astronomers were fed up of the toilet humour associated with Uranus (youranus) and are thinking of renaming it Buumeholey (Bumhole)
i had a bit of a shock last month when, in a routine check-up, my doc told me i had high blood pressure.. i can't remember what the reading was the first time but the next few days it was averaging 150/100.
not wanting to go on drugs for the rest of my life i decided to look at alternatives.
there are some chinese clinics in the town where i live so i tried one of those.. they recommended a course of herbal medicine and acupuncture.
Thanks folks,
I'm already taking coenzyme Q10 for the past two weeks. I'll look at the other stuff too, especially the magnesium and garlic. Celery has cropped up a few times too in recomendations - I wonder what's in it?
Looks like a life-style change is in order if I'm to lower my blood pressure naturally. I started taking rose-hip extract for my joint problems which has worked very well, so I'm a bit of a natural remedy convert after years of scepticism!

They recommended a course of herbal medicine and acupuncture. I've had a few sessions and my blood pressure has dropped a bit - average 144/95 but I'm not happy with that. They tried something with glass bowls - acu-suction?
My back now looks like I lost a fight with a very angry octopus!
