  POLL : Your reaction IF all religion was suddenly banned worldwide

  im interested in hearing what your personal reaction would be if (i say if because probably 99.9% here believe this will never happen) all the religions of the world were to be suddenly banned/shut down/decommissioned/liquidated/dismembered/etc.. by the political powers of the world.

  what would your first post here say?

  would it change your view of jehovah...of the "org"?

  As my Granddad used to say - 'if things don't change they'll stay as they are'. Basically I think religion will go it's merry way polluting humankind for centuries yet.

  However, hypothetically...

  What if Islamic exremists get hold of nuclear weapons, and use them against Christian extremists (mainly in the U.S.)? The resulting scenario, of millions of deaths and the potential for the extinction of the human race, would mean the survivors would almost certainly ban overt religious practices as a matter of fear of it happening again.

  So, I think it won't just 'happen' like the JWs think but it could happen following an extremely violent and bleak moment in human history.

  In which case most of us won't be here to say anything to Jehovah's Witnesses anyway.

  Whats your worst household chore.........?

  ......................mine has got to be the weekly grocery shop....................oh how i dread and hate it.

  i used to think it was the ironing but id rather do a ton of ironing if i didnt have to shop.. its so boring, same food week in week out.................loading it onto the conveyer belt, packing it putting it in the car.........taking it out of the car...........putting it into cupboards then saying " what shall i cook for dinner?

  " but by then i just can face the food.. so whats yours?, mowing the lawn and cleaning the car are included .

  I absolutely HATE ironing - people are such weird shapes, so so are their clothes. Ironing trousers is the worst! I've never been able to get the press line in the same place twice!

  I once paid to have it sent out but they don't actually iron the clothes, they steam out the creases. I can't really afford to have someone come in and do it for me but I would if I could. As it is I only iron what I need on the day - I CANNOT do ironing for more than ten minutes - it drives me insane.

  I believe if men had done the ironing years ago we'd have a machine for it now. Also, I have to ask, what is it in the human condition that makes us obsess about creases in our clothing? I mean, ironing serves no practical purpose - just think of all those painful hours doing something of no value whatsoever!

  As for shopping - I don't mind that. To make it interesting why don't you vary your diet? Try some new recipes? Then mealtimes would be less of a chore too.

  Will the wts face a Muslim backlash over the new tract?

  they do, after all, classify all religions apart from theirs as false, and we've seen in the last few days that it doesn't take much to inflame the more militant factions of islam.

  there's a large muslim community around here, and i can't see some of them taking kindly to being labelled a false religion.. this may not be the best time for the wts to be distributing such "information", but i expect they will go ahead, oblivious as to the sort of reaction it may provoke.

  i hope that nothing much comes of this campaign, but in the sensitive times in which we all live, i can't help wondering....

  Anyone here any good at fixing TVs?

  sorry for the completely non-jw related topic, but.... my sony trinitron tv had a number of thin blue horizontal lines appear towards the top of the screen.

  i did some research and these appear to be "fly back lines" caused by the retrace showing as the gun moves back up the screen.. rather than call an engineer, i decided to buy another tv on ebay.

  get it home, plug it in and this one has exactly the same problem except red lines instead of blue.. i'm just wondering what are the chances of this happening???

  Same fault on both TVs? Did you use the same scart lead?

  I had no end of probs with poor TV image once that went away when I bought a good quality scart lead.

  What movie disappointed you the most, what one impressed you the most?

  there have been occasion in my life, that movies have come out that i looked so forward to seeing.

  then i see them, and i am so disappointed in the finish product.

  then there are movies i go to see thinking, why am i wasting my time with this junk, and then i end up finding this movie to be something enjoyable and in some cases fantastic.

  Strangely enough, the movie that comes to my mind as being a big disappointment to me was 'A fish called Wanda' which got big hype and was was supposed to be hilarious but I only smiled once.

  I loved the Alien movies (1&2), Matrix and the Terminator trilogy...and I agree, Crash was a suprise gem.
