Have you abandoned the hope of everlasting life?
by Fisherman indo you still believe or nurture in your heart "living forever in a paradise earth" and even never having to die in "this old system"?
or do you now belive in life after death as a spirit being in heaven?
or have you abandoned the hope of everlasting life?

During my 'awakening' from the JW induced coma - I became deeply depressed when I realized I was actually going to die after all and there was nothing I could do about it.
There's a faint glimmer of hope that scientists will be able to extend life significantly but as for living forever, I truly have no realistic hope.
Even now it wrenches my guts out when I think about it. I so desperately don't want to die but I might bloody well have to.

When we had the book study at my house, about five years ago, the elder used to bring an old tobbaco tin with a typed 'contributions' taped to the top, which he left on the shelf until he went home. One elderly sister always put £1 in every week but I think she was the only one.
I don't think the WBTS will drop any meetings - they are all needed for control, especially the book-study. That's where you are missed more if you don't go and they can check up on you.
I was thinking when I read the title of this thread it meant - which meeting do you miss first when you are fading away. I think it would be the Service meetings midweek, as the Watchtower study...(sorry, 'Bible study with the aid of the Watchtower') has more of an air of importance to it as the primary channel through which the faithful are force-fed. The book-study is harder to skip because your absence will be noted more readily.

I think Arthur C Clarke wrote a story that included ideas about this - I believe called The Lion of Comarre
And of course there was the Matrix. Some people prefered the created world of the Matrix rather than grim reality.
I think if I could escape into a world like the Matrix, indistinguishable from reality, and have a measure of control then I would certainly consider it.
Ideally I'd like to be able to go into such a world for short periods, like a holiday, to experience something I couldn't do in real life. I like the idea of the Holodeck in Star Trek for that.

Did leaving the borg ruin your marriage
Yes.
Married for 20 years, quite happy for the first 18. As soon as I said I didn't believe the Jehovah's Witnesse religion anymore our relationship changed. To her, I was a dead man walking, she fell for the 'sleeping with a corpse' Society line and treated me accordingly. For the sake of our marriage I tried to keep the peace, not trying to pursuade her. There was a culture of silence (but this isn't healthy, a man and wife should be able to discuss anything).
The thing that finally broke the stalemate was the children. One by one they left the borg too. And my wife blamed me. So now she viewed me as a child-murderer too.
At that point she started to subject me to sustained and intense psychological abuse. Even though I had NEVER been unfaithful she would no longer allow me in the marital bed. For the last two years of our marriage I slept on an air-bed downstairs.
In the end I realised I was becoming extremely ill with depression and stress - so I left before I would become a basket case and got a place on my own. I got the divorce papers from my ex's solicitor in less than a week! We've been divorced over two years now, but the sad thing is I never stopped loving her, and our wedding anniversary on December the 3rd made me feel quite down for the day. Of course, to her I'm the seed of Satan! Unfortunately, a Jehovah's Witness's love is often conditional, and you'll never know which it is until you test it.
The good thing is, my kids saw what was happening and my ex's bad attitude and example proved to them what a harmful religion this was. So even though I was out of the house they would never again be snared. They are now immune from the org's brainwashing. And I see them nearly every day!

Revelation Climax, page 52, Kindly Respond
by compound complex indear readers of revelation,.
i have been reminded that a simple question is more effective than an elaborate presentation.
i have become very careful about what i say and how much i say to most people.

I don't subscribe to the subliminal theories myself. I see faces of various descriptions in wallpaper, curtains, carpets and such all the time - it's just human nature (or I'm weird!)
But what I did notice was that all the 'kings' standing with Jesus are white males.

A SIMPLE EXPLANATION of why TIME TRAVEL doesn't work
by Terry inenergy and matter are neither created nor destroyed.. consequently, the building blocks of existence are actually finite parts.. to create things in "tomorrow" which are new, something has to be dismantled to leave spare parts for the new thing.. the old thing deteriorates, (dies) and the parts become the new thing.. time travel requires going to a place where all of today's parts are completely dismanteled and are being used (or not) to maintain yesterday/tomorrow.. ever see the film primer?.
said slightly differently...... you go into a room.
on the table is a box of dominoes.

At no time can the dinosaur exist along with the house or the car.
Ok. But what if you can choose which day you go into the room? Say, I want to go into the room when it was a dinosaur? I know that day was last Thursday, so I set my time machine accordingly - nothing is being changed or created, the dinosaur properly existed at that moment in time. Only I move - perhaps 'dismantled' in this time and 'reassembled' in another.
Now my head hurts.

CHANGE IN RESURRECTION DOCTRINE?
by Mary inok, this is from the january 1, 2007 craptower.
page 25 is the study article called "the first resurrection---now under way".
it's too boring to type all the stupidity written, but here's a brief synopsis of where they come up with the brainiac idea that the first resurrection occurred in 1918 onwards:.

Will all the anointed receive their heavenly reward before the war of Armaggedon? We do not know...."
NOW JUST A COTTON PICKING MINUTE!
Did they really say that? If so it is a major shift- this smells fishy! Like Vitty and Mary pointed out, and what stuck out in my mind too, was that this was always used as a sign that we were close to the end. The Watchtower in 15th Jan 2000 had an article, which presented 'evidences' that the end was close. Number six was:
18. Sixth, the number of genuine anointed disciples of Christ is dwindling, though some will evidently still be on earth when the great tribulation begins. Most of the remnant are quite elderly, and over the years the number of those who are truly anointed has been getting smaller. Yet, referring to the great tribulation, Jesus stated: "Unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short." (Matthew 24:21,22) Evidently, then, some of Christ's "chosen ones" will still be on earth when the great tribulation begins.
VERY INTERESTING!!!
