That is true, Crumpet. I also thought of that, but since that is a book about the Bible, I'm assuming they are talking about divine things. Why not use another word?

Hello all,
The definition of Providentially: prov·i·den·tial adj.
1. Of or resulting from divine providence. 2. Happening as if through divine intervention; opportune.
OK. This IS it. On Revelation book, page 105, on top of the page on a little box, it says:
"Providentially, those Bible Students had not realized that there is no zero year between "B.C." 606 to 607 B.C.E, when research made it necessary to adjust B.C. 606 to 607 B.C.E., the zero year was also eliminated, so that the prediction held good at "A.D. 1914".
Now, according to the definition and the WT comment, God made the Bible Students (Russell) to be wrong on a date. Yes, God was sending bad flashes of light! GIMME A BREAK. And how did they fix that mistake that God sent them? Keep reading:
"when research made it neccesary to abjust", that means that they had to fix what God screwed by making research themselves. I think this is blasphemy. Gosh! These people at the GB are crazy!!
Give some opinions please. Pix.

Why Some Stay In The Organization
by Outaservice indon't you think a lot of brother's stay with the watchtower because in the real world they would never be anybody so-to-speak.
they would never even attain their '15 minutes of fame' that many have.. but, at the hall, they get to get up in front of an audience, and people listen to them as if they really have something to say!
and they're given a 'title' such as elder, ministerial servant, microphone handler (wow) etc.

Some stay in the Borg because don't want to lose their family -Like me. But I may lose them anyway if they don't wake up soon (Which I think they won't). Really sad.

JWs: Saying One Thing But Doing Another
by minimus injws say to do research in society publications and the bible but when you do research and see something that doesn't make sense that is being taught, and you question it----you are told not to research and leave things in jehovah's hands so that he can help you to understand things according to his will.
if you research or even read an older publication printed by "the slave", and you express that there is a different thought or viewpoint or even a "flip-flop" in understanding, you will be counseled to keep such observations to yourself.. have you seen examples of jws telling you to do one thing but in reality doing just the opposite?.

I can't comprehend, and never will, how are we suppose to "test" the things that they (the WT) teach us if we are supposed to read only their books and other wordly book that they feel comfortable with.

EXPOSED: THE WT tweaks verses to fit their own agenda.
by pixel inok, here's something i noticed when i was in the book study this week, related to the "seven time" prophecy, the verses are daniel 4:19-32.
related to the interpretation of nebuchadnezzar's dream, daniel wish the dream to apply to those who hate nebuchadnezzar and the interpretation, to his adversaries.
verse 22 says explicitly that the big tree is him, nebuchadnezzar.

Ok, here's something I noticed when I was in the book study this week, related to the "seven time" prophecy, the verses are Daniel 4:19-32
Related to the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream, Daniel wish the dream to apply to those who hate Nebuchadnezzar and the interpretation, to his adversaries. Verse 22 says explicitly that the big tree is him, Nebuchadnezzar. Now, the WT applies this verses to Jehovah and Jesus, when in the Revelation book, page 22, paragraph 3, says: "Daniel described a chopping down of rulership in the line of king David; after "seven time" it would be known "that the Most High is Ruler in the kingdom of mankind, and that to the one whom he wants to he gives it."
I don't know from where in the world the WT got that the "chopping down of the tree" represents David's line of kings. For me, this comes just out of the blue. Then it goes on to explain that the first fulfillment of this prophecy came on 607 B.C.E., with the kingdom of Judah and yada yada yada until 1914.
In the book of Pay Attention to Daniel's Prophecy, page 87, paragraph 10, chapter 6, it says that the big tree represents Jehovah's sovereignty on the earth, even thou Daniel himself says that the tree represents Nebuchadnezzar and because he got proud of himself, he was about to suffer a humiliation, chopping down the tree (his rulership). In other words, what was a curse to Nebuchadnezzar turned to be a cursed to David's line of king, and the WT explicitly does what Daniel said: applied the interpretation of the dream to Nebuchadnezzar's adversaries, in this case, Jehovah and jesus. (??!!)
Now, this seems pretty straightforward for me, the big tree is Nebuchadnezzar, and the dream ONLY had a fulfillment when the king was eating like the animals outside of the palace. But this is not true for the average R&F. In the study this week, nobody commented about this, they just read it and that's it. Somebody even commented how this verses applied to Nebuchadnezzar, and not to Jesus' linage as the WT does.
Am I missing something, or is this thing of the "seven times" as easy as I see it?

by pixel inthere's a topic going on about the wt teaching of the 144.000 revealing "thuths" to the gb nowdays.
here's what i found, and as somebody pointed already out, this comment comes from rutherford's thinking of russell directing the harvest from heaven/grave.
and it still continues....

Thanks. No, sorry. I was just surfing the internet and saw that. I don't know who can have those books/mags from 1934.

Hello all,
There's a topic going on about the WT teaching of the 144.000 revealing "thuths" to the GB nowdays. Here's what I found, and as somebody pointed already out, this comment comes from Rutherford's thinking of Russell directing the harvest from heaven/grave. He first said that, and then flip/flop it. and it still continues...
In a page that I found http://www.premier1.net/~raines/necromancy.html, Rutherford said: "All at the temple will realize that their spiritual food comes to them from their Teachers, Jehovah and Christ Jesus, and not from any man. No one will be so foolish as to conclude that some brother (or brethren) at one time amongst them, and who has died and gone to heaven, is now instructing the saints on earth and directing them as to their work."
Sources: The Watchtower , May 1, 1934 p. 131; J. F. Rutherford, Jehovah , (Brooklyn, New York: Watchtower, Bible & Tract Society) 1934 p. 191.
I guess the GB in Brooklyn are way too foolish believing that somebody from the 144.000 is still communicating "thuths" (On the new Watchtower and Revelation book). Perhaps it's Rutherford himself, since he is dead now and "part of the 144.000" - Yeah right.

When is it 'going too far'?
by nekone041 ini'm new to the forum (in fact, i just joined about 10 minutes before starting this post), and am a new jw (i began learning and attending meetings since about november of '06).
i have a question involving my girlfriend and i, and i'm hoping to find a moral answer.
my girlfriend and i fell in love two summers ago, and we're still pretty young (we're turning 17 this year).

I don't think he is a JW. I mean, he just got into it last year. I guess he is a student. Now, if the lady is a JW, I guess she IS in trouble...

by pixel ini was talking this morning while i was preaching with this sister, and she asked me: do you know that the preaching work will be done soon?
i asked her: what do you mean?
she responded back: a sister (and i know her also) told me that her brother heard that the preaching is gonna be over because there are only two countries that jw can't go because it's too dangerous and yada yada yada.

Research question on "true religion"--for exWitnesses
by IsaacJS2 ini am nearly done with my writing project about why i went from a jw to an atheist.
whether you are an atheist or not, i was just wondering what you thought about the biblical signs that the society points to as proof that it is the "true religion.
" the essay is basically a breakdown of why i reject the society's claim to being the "true religion" and i was looking for specific arguments that i hadn't already thought of.. i'm tempted to post this essay somewhere once it's complete, but i don't know where i would since it's looking to be between 40-50 pages long.

I can tell you this: you can upload your research as a PDF and them the people here, including me, could download it and read.
