Perhaps because it makes those who stood by and did nothing feel better about themselves?

Why is the Victim Always Wrong?
by Warlock ini lurked here for about 6 or 7 months, before i started posting.. i have read experience after experience in which the victim of gossip, slander, abuse in the congregation is the one who is made to feel like they are the ones who need to apologize, when they are the ones that need the apology from the perpetrators of the injustice.. .
one theme that continues to repeat itself in the congregation is this: the victim is always wrong and the victimizer is always right.

Boycotting Israel
by Crumpet ini see that quite a few are following the dreadful attacks in lebanon.
today i went swimming to cool off with mr c and we were discussing what ways we could make our disapproval and anger at israels actions felt, besides being human shields.
(mr c reckons i'm big enough to stop one missile, but would be pretty useless after that.

The wisdom of Edward
by Justin ini've been reading edward gibbon's the history of the decline and fall of the roman empire, and his assessment of the prophet mohammed makes me wonder about some of the religious personages with whom we have to deal.
it possess the question whether or not a religious leader or founder must be categorized as either good or evil, or if there is a gray area on which we cannot be quite precise.
without saying too much, gibbon found it necessary to address the founding of islam because this led to the fall of constantinople and the eastern empire long after the western empire had collapsed.

Socrates claimed to have a daimonion, a small daemon, that warned him against mistakes but never told him what to do or coerced him into following it. He claimed that his daimon exhibited greater accuracy than any of the forms of divination practised at the time.

I have to add a story -- a guy my husband works with bought a Hummer off EBay. He has not been able to get the title, so he has a very expensive lawn ornament...

Panic Disorder/Agoraphobia?
by caligirl inanyone out there have any personal experience with this?
just looking for input and suggestions.

I've had a panic disorder for years (with depression). I also have the agoraphobia, but my symptoms have waxed and waned over the years. I've been on more medications than I can begin to list (or remember) - some worked for a while, some not at all. Right now I take prozac and have ativan for "emergencies."
You might want to work with a doctor to find the right combination for you, but try not to let yourself get stuck in the house. Once you do, it gets harder and harder to get out without serious intervention.

Pope,
You have to pick the most unpleasant definition of mull?
No. It's a small village in Aberdeenshire (Scotlan) where my ancestors live. I'm not sure why I started using it for nicknames/email, besides that I hate adding numbers to my nickname.

Does anyone remember the Myth series by Robert Aspirin? (Mythadventures, Hit or Myth, etc). I loved those.

Hi serendipity -- and thanks.
I have trouble getting back to where I've posted (is there a trick?).
I'm doing bible studies with a JW and have been researching them to find out more. My religious background is just about as confused as it gets. I was born technically Christian (never baptised), my mom married a Jewish man so I went to Sabbath school, decided I didn't believe in god so refused to be Bat Mitzvahed. I converted to Catholocism (that spelling looks very wrong) about 11 years ago, drifted away from that and have been doing nothing until a JW came to my door a few weeks ago.
