Well if she does get DF, I would refuse to talk to her to show that you don't approve of her behavior. Give her a taste of her own medicine

Hang in there, it will take time to rebuild your life and heal from the emotion abuse you have faced. You are ahead of the game in that you understand the impact your childhood abuse and the the abuse by the org has had on you. Keep telling yourself that you weren't a failure because you weren't a good JW. It's pretty much impossible to be a good JW unless you are a mindless robot IMHO. As many have stated you need counseling. It's very hard to work through these issues on your own. It takes time to make friends. Take classes in things you are interested in and be open to meeting new people. Hang out at the local coffee shop, the library, wherever people meet. Volunteering is a great way to meet other people, plus it makes you feel better about yourself. I also find meditation to be a good way to work through difficult feelings. You can get a book at the library and try it.

Did being raised as a witness make you smarter?
by Paralipomenon ina topic that came up on gabbly the other day.
i've seen a few "post your iq" or other test topics on the forums here.
if people are even close to truthful with their score i would guess the average iq would be ~125, quite possibly higher.

I saw something a while back that JW's in Australia had a higher percentage of gifted children that the average population. I didn't become a JW until age 13, but my daughter was raised as one and was in the gifted children's program in school. You had to be in the top 2 percent to get into the program. Not sure if that was influenced at all by early meetings and bible study or if that's just the way she would have been. Possibly it stimulated her mind somewhat. She could name all the bible characters (including Nebuchanezzar) at 18 month. She never got baptized, so I guess she was smart in figuring out that it was all BS too! Much smarter than me anyway.

Are we being watched by the Watchtower?
by lfcviking ini've heard a few posts on this forum suggesting the wt society has its own 'secret' team of people who lurk on this site for information purposes but also to identify individuals who have left the org and become 'apostate' and are actively working/campaigning against the wt society.
can anybody here verify this?
is this actually happening?

You know that kinda gay guy in your old hall?
by changeling inyou know him, every hall has one.. he really knows fashion.
he hangs out with all the middle aged women at the hall.
his gait, voice and gestures are feminine.. if he were a "wordly" man he'd be a "flamer".. well, here's my question: is he or isn't he?

I've known a few in my time. There was one very well known brother who had been to Bethel. Never married. Even back in the 70's I knew he was a gay man, just didn't act on it (as far as I knew anyway). I also dated a guy in high school, that was very effeminate. He married and as far as I know the marriage lasted. Who know, maybe he wasn't gay, but I know a few people that assumed he was a gay man who converted to the 'truth'. He was actually raised a JW. Both men were extremely creative and talented individuals. I wonder what they would have been like if they hadn't been forced to be something they weren't?

This is cheap but works for me - Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. They had a plasticc card at Wal-Mart that had all the colors. You just moved the different colors over your hand until you find one that matches. It's kind of fluffy and blends right in. Best one I've ever had.

my mother sent this to me-
by Younglove1999 inso my mom sends me this to me and i hate these jw forward things- .
i want to have a good response when she asks if i got it- because i feel like it has nothing to do with jw's, just a coincidence.
i feel like she thinks i hate god, but it has nothing to do with him- it's the religion itself.

I'm sure this must me true! I've heard the same story, it was a friend of a friend's second cousin twice removed. Only the child was Chinese, and a little girl and 5 not 7. But it must be true because my friend told me so. Love those urband legend's, especially when people are dumb enough to believe them. File under JW MUL's, along with the Smurf thing.

I Watched A Documentary On Jim Jones &The People's Temple & Thought of JWs
by minimus ini saw an unbelievable commentary on pbs last night about the reverend jim jones and his church.
the comparison to the witnesses that i was seeing reinforced that jws are truly a cult!
they are no different than the cultist in guyana.

I saw the documentary also. It creeped me out because I did see a some similarities to the JW's. It's funny because at the time of the Jim Jones mass suicide I was thinking I was glad I was a JW and not in some crazy cult. Now I see I was also in a cult. I don't think the JW's are as extreme and isolated as the Peoples Temple, and I don't think most JW's would drink the Kool-aid. But some of the thinking is very similar. Once you buy into the thought that the "Faithfull and discrete slave" knows what's best for you and is the only instrument of salvation, then you suspend your own logical thinking skills to a certain extent. Eventually you don't question anything and come to belive things you wouldn't have accepted before. It's a slippery slope. The difference is the Jim Jone's slope was steeper and more slippery.

Were You Treated Unfairly In The Congregation?
by minimus inthere is clearly a caste system in the organization.
there is a pecking order.
certain classes of people did not associate with those not of the same ilk.

I was in California and didn't see any racial divisions, I think it was a bit more liberal out there. But there was a pecking order as far as the other things mentioned, family ties, pioneers, elders. I had a Disfellowshiped mate, my children would'nt go to meetings (they were much smarter than me!) , and I had a professional job, and was irregular in meeting and service ( I had health problems). I might as well have been inivisible. A few sisters would talk to me, but that was about it. I might as well have been disfellowshiped. No social life whatsover. It was pretty lonely, as my marriage was bad too.
